Horizon: Calendar Highlights
Productivity
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Your Apple Calendar, organized by what matters.
Horizon is a companion for Apple Calendar. It reads the events you already have, sorts them into categories like Work, Health, Family and Travel, and brings the important ones forward: on a dashboard, in daily and weekly briefings, on your Lock Screen, in widgets and through Siri.
There's no new calendar to keep up and no account to create. Grant calendar access and Horizon does the rest, on your device.
SMART CATEGORIES
Horizon sorts every event into one of 19 categories using on-device intelligence, and learns from each correction you make. Add your own categories and keywords (Horizon shows which events a keyword will match before you save it), or change any event's category with a tap. Quick Categorize deals out the rest as cards, with your best matches ready as buttons.
A DASHBOARD THAT STARTS WITH TODAY
The Today card shows the date, the weather and what's happening now or next. Browse by category, or switch to the month view, where each day carries a color bar of what's on it. Multi-day trips appear on every day they cover.
DAILY & WEEKLY BRIEFINGS
The daily briefing gives you the shape of your day: how much is on, when it starts, when you're done and where your free time is. The weekly briefing covers your busiest days, highlights, how your time splits across categories, and every scheduling conflict. Life Patterns looks back over months to show where your time really goes.
WATCHLIST
Count down to what you're looking forward to: a trip, a birthday, a concert. A watched event gets a Live Activity on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, milestone notifications a month, a week and a day out, and its own widget. Watch a recurring event and the countdown moves on to the next one by itself.
FIND FREE TIME
Need an hour for the gym or coffee with a friend? Horizon scans your schedule within the hours you choose and suggests the best open slots. Tap one to create the event.
SIRI, SHORTCUTS & FOCUS
Ask "What's on my Horizon today?" or "When am I free this week in Horizon?" Add an event, watch one or change its category by voice. Eight actions are ready in Shortcuts, Controls work in Control Center and on the Action button, and Focus filters show only the categories you choose while a Focus is on.
WIDGETS
Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets for your next event, today's briefing, the week ahead and your Watchlist. They stay current without opening the app.
REMINDERS THAT FIT THE EVENT
Set reminder timing per category: a week ahead for a trip, the morning of for a birthday, 30 minutes before a meeting. Horizon can skip events that already have a Calendar alert, so you're never reminded twice.
DUPLICATES HANDLED
The same meeting on your work and personal calendars shows up once in Horizon.
BUILT ON APPLE CALENDAR
Horizon works with every calendar in Apple Calendar: iCloud, Google, Exchange, Outlook and CalDAV accounts added to your device. Create events in Horizon with live categorization and Suggest a Time, and edit existing ones in Apple's own editor, with calendars, invitees, alerts and repeats.
IPHONE, IPAD & APPLE WATCH
A side-by-side layout on iPad, and your day and your Watchlist on Apple Watch.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Categorization runs entirely on your device. Your events are never sent to a server, and there are no Horizon accounts and no tracking. Your categories and settings sync between your devices through your own iCloud account.

Answer invitations without leaving Horizon.
Accept or Decline
An invitation you haven't answered says so on its details, with who invited you and an Accept or Decline button that opens Calendar's reply screen. After you answer, the button changes to Change Reply. Your daily briefing lists the invitations still waiting for an answer, and you can reply right from the list.
See your replies at a glance
Events you declined say "Declined", and invitations waiting for you say "Invited", on the dashboard, in the week view and on the timeline. The color stripe beside each event shows your answer too: solid when you're going, an outline when you haven't answered, dashes for Maybe and slashes for Declined. Widgets use the same stripes, and Apple Watch shows your answer in its event dots, the event details and the rectangular complication.
Unanswered invitations in free time
Choose how invitations you haven't answered count in Settings › Free Time: let Horizon decide, as before, or always count them as busy or as free.
Clearer settings
Settings explain themselves in plainer words, and a few are renamed: Sync Window is now Date Range, and a calendar's category is Usually or Always.
Fixes
- Invitations that also appear on a calendar shared with you, common with Outlook and Exchange family calendars, now merge into one event, and your copy is the one shown, with Accept or Decline
- Accept, Decline and Edit always open your own copy of an event
- Hiding a calendar no longer brings back another calendar's copy of the same event
- Moving an event to another calendar in Apple Calendar keeps its category, reminders and Watchlist countdown
- Events opened from a briefing offer Edit again
- Reviewing guesses from the weekly briefing no longer shows the dashboard through the cards
- The merged-events badge shows in every section of the dashboard, not only this week and next
- Apple Watch, its complications and the widgets now agree with the phone on what's left today, what's next and what needs a category
- Uncategorized events show the same question mark everywhere, including widgets, Apple Watch and Siri
- Tips appear once and no longer take the tap meant for a button
- Half-height sheets are solid instead of see-through
- Switching categories no longer slides the section headers into place
- Undo stays available after you close an event's details, however long they were open
- The first launch after updating shows its progress instead of a still screen
- VoiceOver no longer reads icon names, and the + button is easier to reach with VoiceOver and Switch Control
- The dashboard uses less battery while it sits open
If Horizon helps you plan your week, a rating on the App Store goes a long way. Thank you!

What's New in 1.7
See your open time, and your week at a glance.
Free time where you plan
Tap the Free chip and Horizon shows the open time between your events, right in the list and the month view. Tap a gap to book it: the new event starts at the beginning of the gap, at the length you choose in Settings. Made for anyone who books appointments for a living.
A week view
Turn your iPhone sideways in the calendar to see the whole week on an hour grid. Choose a category and its events stand out in color while the rest of your week fades to grey, so you see where it fits. Tap an empty hour to add an event there. On iPad, switch between Week and Month in the calendar header.
More room on your side
In landscape the calendar takes the whole screen. New Event, Search, your Watchlist, briefings and Settings sit in the header. The month view now fills the screen too.
Find Free Time, refreshed
Results and search options have a cleaner look and follow your week's first day. On the timeline, the block follows your finger and snaps to the nearest 15 minutes, and the timeline has a side panel in landscape.
Watchlist
Countdowns to all-day events read in whole days. The trail lights up as you travel it, and a running event's card shows a sun crossing the sky. Suggestions favor trips and occasions over birthdays, and a Compact Rows option keeps a long list short.
Smarter categorizing
A calendar you've tagged with a category now counts for more: when an event's title could go either way, Horizon files it under the calendar's category and marks it for review instead of guessing. Apple Intelligence sorts uncategorized events faster and in larger batches, and skips the work in Low Power Mode. Quick Categorize shows one card per title.
Life Patterns counts start times
Beside Events and Hours there's now Times: how many different moments your day starts something. Six events at noon, noon, 1pm, 3pm, 6pm and 6pm make four. Everything on the screen follows the switch.
Life Patterns, by time of day and by title
New cards show when your day happens and what keeps coming back. Time of Day charts your starts by hour, how much of each hour is usually booked, or the minute of the hour you start on, and opens into a weekday grid. Most Often lists the titles you see again and again, with a week-by-week strip and their usual start. Days by Load, Day's Span, Between Starts and Mix round out the picture, and the Overview gains a week-by-week line. Filter by a category and every card follows, so a Meals category reads as a food log.
Little touches
Pull to refresh is centered and looks the same on the dashboard, the briefings and Life Patterns, and a pull on any of them syncs your calendars. While Horizon sorts your events for the first time, calendar facts keep you company.
Fixes
- Quick Categorize can change a whole series from an Outlook or Exchange calendar
- The CarPlay Live Activity shows the event's title again
- Recategorize All counts only events you can see as still uncategorized
- The Watchlist badge no longer counts events that have ended
- The landscape month view no longer stops two thirds of the way down the screen
- Weekday names in Find Free Time follow your language
- Choosing a long free slot opens the timeline on your event instead of above it
- Life Patterns' lists and breakdowns no longer close on their own the first time you open one
- Hide Declined Events now finds invitations you declined, wherever your address is known
- Declined meetings no longer hold up your free time
- On the days clocks change, the timeline puts events at the right hour
- Widgets and the Watch say "Ended" once an event is over, instead of "Now"
- Opening an event in another city no longer changes the weather on your Today card
- Snoozing a reminder works when Horizon wasn't running
- Editing a category's keywords keeps what Apple Intelligence filed
If Horizon helps you plan your week, a rating on the App Store goes a long way. Thank you!

What's New in 1.6.1
A polish update: Undo where you need it, a smarter new-event form, and Life Patterns that measures your time as well as your events.
Undo and clearer feedback
Changing an event's category or unwatching an event now offers Undo, and Undo puts back exactly what was there before. Event details tell you when a change didn't save, and deleting a category asks first and tells you how many events it affects.
Getting around
- A Today pill takes you back to today when you've scrolled far down the list
- Search also matches calendar names
- The month view tells you when a search is filtering it, with a button to clear it
- Once today's events are done, the Today card shows tomorrow's first event
- iPhone: tap the briefing button to reopen the page you last viewed, or press and hold to choose Daily, Weekly or Life Patterns
- iPad: Settings is in the toolbar, where it is on iPhone
New events
New events start on the next hour or half hour, and moving the start keeps the length. The calendar follows the category to the calendar you last used for it. After saving, tap View to open the new event.
Life Patterns
Switch between Events and Hours to see where your time goes. When there's enough history, Life Patterns compares the period with the one before it. A new Busy and Quiet card shows your busiest streak and quietest week, and you can tap them to see the events.

What's New in 1.6.0
Horizon's biggest update yet. It has a look of its own, it reaches you beyond the app, and it fixes a long list of things you told us about.
A new look
Horizon now opens on the sky. The dashboard leads with a Today card: the date, the weather, and what's happening now or next. Rows are calmer, headers stay put as you scroll, and events grow out of the list when tapped. Eight category colors moved apart so they're easier to tell apart. On iOS 26, controls use Liquid Glass.
Siri and Shortcuts
Ask "What's on my Horizon today", "When am I free this week in Horizon" or "Add an event to Horizon". Watch an event or change its category by voice. Eight actions are ready in Shortcuts.
On your Lock Screen and Home Screen
- Live Activity: a watched event counts down on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
- Controls for Control Center, the Lock Screen and the Action button.
- Widgets: a small Briefing widget, an extra-large Event widget for iPad, and a Watchlist widget with a progress bar while an event runs. Widgets stay current without opening the app.
- Spotlight finds your categories and watched-event countdowns.
- Focus filters: choose which categories show during a Focus.
Editing and creating
Editing an event opens Apple's editor, so you can change its calendar, invitees, alerts and repeat. Horizon's new-event form gains alerts, a URL and Save and Invite People. Deleting shows Undo.
More

- A Conflicts list in the briefings showing every overlapping pair
- The daily briefing now tells you the shape of your day, and its free slots start a new event with one tap
- Life Patterns lets you change the period on the spot and opens any event you tap
- A redesigned Quick Categorize with the event as a card and your best matches as buttons
- A redesigned month view: each day shows a color bar of what's on it, and the grid folds to the current week as you scroll
- Multi-day events appear on every day they cover, in the list, the briefings and widgets too
- Change any event's category from its details, with suggestions right in the press-and-hold menu
- Keywords show which events they'll match, and warn when another category already has them
- A refreshed Watchlist: a spotlight card for what's happening now or next, a still "Now" pill, a progress bar instead of blinking dots, and a tap to open the event
- Watch a recurring event every time it comes round, and the Watchlist suggests trips, birthdays and holidays to count down to
- Milestones a month, a week and three days out, the day before and the morning of
- Skip Horizon's reminder for events that already have a Calendar alert, and set reminders for a single event
- Briefing notifications describe the day they arrive on, with your first event and the forecast; the weekly one previews the week ahead
- Swipe between the Daily, Weekly and Patterns briefings
- iPad: events open in a side column instead of a sheet
- Apple Watch: a refreshed look that matches the iPhone app, with the Watchlist on your wrist
- Better VoiceOver, Dynamic Type and Reduce Motion support
Fixes
- Importing your calendar is much faster and no longer freezes the screen

- Watchlist widgets and the Live Activity open the event you tap

What's New in 1.5.6
Life Patterns improvements
Tap any stat card in Life Patterns to drill into a detailed breakdown — see your weekly event history charted over time or explore a full per-category count. A new Events list
lets you browse every event on a selected day directly from the heatmap. The Insights section now surfaces richer analysis of your patterns. A new Life Patterns settings page
(Settings → Life Patterns) lets you control exactly how much history is analyzed and whether upcoming events are included.
Sync window control
A new Sync Window settings page (Settings → Calendars → Sync Window) lets you choose how far back and how far forward Horizon stores events locally — helpful if you want more
history or are managing storage on your device.
Open event locations in Maps
Events with a physical address now include an "Open in Maps" option in the long-press context menu.
Performance & reliability
Widget updates are now batched so bulk changes (like a full sync) trigger a single refresh instead of stacking them — this noticeably reduces background work after large syncs.
Startup and app-foreground transitions are faster: calendar seeding, CloudKit import checks, and tracker maintenance now run off the main thread so the dashboard loads without
waiting on them.
Bug fixes
- Fixed a bug where the animated dot on Journey Progress would cut straight across the trail instead of following the curve during progress updates
- Fixed multi-account calendar display in the event editor — accounts now group correctly when you have more than one calendar provider connected
- Several fixes to the data migration pipeline for reliability on first launch

1.5.5 Apr 14
Bug Fixes:
- 1.5.3 had a sync issue that could leave iCloud data duplicated across devices. 1.5.4 fixes the underlying race and automatically cleans up any duplicates on next launch. If iCloud still seems stuck after updating, open Settings → iCloud & Sync → Re-download from iCloud for a faster recovery.
1.5.4 Apr 13
What's New in v1.5.3
Smarter Notifications
Horizon no longer duplicates your calendar app's reminders. Event notifications are now off by default for new users. You can still enable per-category
reminders anytime in Settings > Notifications.
Countdown Milestones for Watched Events
Track events that matter most and get milestone updates as they approach. Horizon sends countdown notifications at various milestones, and a morning-of reminder. Toggle milestones on or off in Settings or during onboarding.
Refreshed Onboarding
A streamlined setup experience highlights Watched Events, lets you know you can create custom categories, and puts notification controls front and center.

Horizon v1.5.2 Release Notes
Watchlist
- Journey progress trail -- Watched event cards now show a winding path that visualizes how far along you are from when you started watching to the event date, with milestone
markers at 25%, 50%, and 75%. The traveler dot glows with increasing intensity as the event approaches.
- Redesigned empty state -- The Watchlist empty state is cleaner with a decorative animated trail and simplified messaging.
Calendar Hints
- Direct Mapping mode -- Calendar Hints now supports two modes. Hint (the default) influences categorization while still allowing AI to make the final call. Direct bypasses AI
entirely and always assigns the chosen category at full confidence. Both modes are available from a new mode picker in the calendar hint sheet.
- Recategorization on change -- When you change a calendar's hint or mapping, Horizon now asks whether to recategorize existing events from that calendar. Only affected events
are processed, and manually categorized events are always preserved.
General
- Consistent terminology -- "Categorize" and "recurring" are now used consistently throughout the app, replacing the previous mix of "classify" and "repeating."
- Accessibility improvements -- Animations throughout the app now respect the Reduce Motion accessibility setting. Confidence badges and countdown timers include VoiceOver
labels.
- Design consistency -- Spacing, navigation titles, and confirmation dialogs have been standardized across all settings pages.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed frozen countdown badges -- Time-relative badges (e.g., "in 5 hours", "3 days ago") were computed once and never refreshed, so they would display stale values until the
view was fully reloaded. They now update every 60 seconds.
- Fixed locale mismatch in timeline grid -- The midnight hour label was hardcoded as "12 AM" instead of using the system formatter, causing a format mismatch for users in
24-hour locales.
1.5.2 Apr 11
What's New in v1.5.1
Onboarding:
- New reassurance banner on the calendar selection step clarifying that Horizon only reads your calendars and never creates, edits, moves, or deletes events without your direct action.
Calendar selection (onboarding and Settings > Calendars):
- Calendars within each account are now sorted alphabetically.
- Added per-account Select All / Deselect All for quick bulk toggling when you have many calendars in one account.
Event detail - Classification section:
- The "Looks good" confirmation (previously "Looks right") no longer pops up a series scope dialog for recurring events. One tap now dismisses the review row, teaches Horizon that the current category is correct, and leaves the original source label (AI classifier, Apple Intelligence, etc.) intact instead of overwriting it with "You set this".
- Simplified the classification info display so technical identifiers no longer leak into the UI.
- Added mlModelRenormalized to the friendly-label mapping so it renders as "AI classifier" instead of falling back to "Auto-classified".
1.5.1 Apr 10
Whats New:
- Support for iOS 18. This version works the same as the iOS26 version without the foundational model capabilities the iOS 26 introduces.
1.5 Apr 9

What's New in 1.7.1
Answer invitations without leaving Horizon.
Thank you!
