- 5 new enemies: beam lancers, mine-laying bombers, pulsars and splitting hunters.
- New boss: the Crimson Queen. Stages 7 and 8 make normal mode longer and tougher. Bosses now show a health bar.
- New sectors: space changes as you advance, through violet, ember and crimson nebulae.
- New music and a redesigned main menu.
