New in version 4.1 Scenes • Scenes now play playlists, podcasts and audiobooks too – with playback control per scene: Resume, Shuffle, In order or Newest episode. (Unlimited) • When a scene starts on this device, the app signs in the local player itself if needed. Mini player • On devices that can be switched on and off, the bar shows the power toggle while nothing is playing; during playback it shows “Next”. (iPhone) Playback • Large or smart playlists start without “Request timeout”: the app waits while the server is still preparing, tells you so – and play/pause stays usable meanwhile. • Title and artwork appear as soon as audio plays on this device, even if the server sends its update later. • An album is played or queued as a whole; queueing and “Add to playlist” no longer time out. • After a phone call, music on this device picks up exactly where the call came in – in CarPlay too. • Volume normalization and crossfade follow the queue as in Music Assistant 2.10: per player “Server default”, On or Off – and the app shows the actual state. Players • If your own iPhone is missing from the player picker, it now tells you why – with a button to turn it on or reconnect. • Local player also works with servers running under a custom hostname without encryption. • The Live Activity on the Lock Screen stays put instead of vanishing after two seconds. Library • An album opened from the artist view shows all its tracks – including those where single tracks are by other artists.

New in version 4.0 About this app • Mobile MA is an unofficial Music Assistant client – independent and not affiliated with the Music Assistant project or the Open Home Foundation. The app now says so right at launch, at sign-in and under “Info & Help”. Mini player • Swipe the floating speaker button inward and it becomes a mini bar with artwork, title, play/pause and next. Swipe it back or tap the X to fold it away. (iPhone) Sound • Equalizer & DSP: a full sound chain per player – parametric EQ, high- and low-pass, crossfeed, compressor, safety limiter, room correction via impulse response, and presets shared by all players. Found in the player settings. (Unlimited) • “Stream Info” shows the audio pipeline: source quality, volume normalization and which filters are active. Library • Unavailable tracks are greyed out and are no longer played; the app tells you instead of ending in an error – for example on pre-ordered albums where only some tracks are out. • Every music provider gets its own unique badge – including providers the app doesn't know yet. • “Pre-orders” on Home now fills with Music Assistant 2.11 (beta). Local player • Short connection drops, such as switching from Wi-Fi to cellular, are bridged by the buffer: the music keeps playing while the connection is rebuilt.

New in version 3.9 Groups and scenes • “Rooms” are now “Groups”, and your saved groups are kept. In “Play on…”, groups sit as targets next to the players; scenes are no longer a target, since they bring their own source. • A scene can now play anything: an album, an artist, a track, a radio station, a podcast or an audiobook. • Groups reach your Apple TV via iCloud and can be chosen as a playback target there. • “Take over group” in the scene editor pre-fills leader and members. Appearance • Color world and typeface are chosen separately. Three new color worlds: Sunset, Lavender and Slate. Three new typefaces: Plus Jakarta Sans, Figtree and Oswald. Default and System are free, any other choice belongs to Unlimited. • Widgets follow your theme: display font, accent color and a calmer artwork background. Library • Provider filter: a chip bar above artists, albums, playlists, podcasts, audiobooks and radio shows a single music provider, remembered per list and inherited into artist and album pages. (Unlimited) • Podcasts, audiobooks, artists and playlists can be added to the library without favoriting them, and so can a provider's radio stations. • Player lists follow Music Assistant: players hidden there are hidden here too, and you can hide a player from within the app. Local player • New quality tier “Data Saver (Opus)”: music on the go with about a tenth of the data. The chip in Now Playing shows the tier and the actual format. Handling • After choosing a player, Now Playing opens right away. If you prefer to stay, a hint with a jump target appears instead (Settings → Appearance → After playing). • The floating speaker button shows sound waves whenever music is playing anywhere. • Faster start: the app no longer waits for server details before showing Home. • Apple Watch: the song title appears in the Smart Stack, the complication stays current, and the favorite key on the watch can be switched off (Settings → Apple Watch). • Continue Listening resumes at the remembered position even when the server doesn't apply it, in CarPlay too. Music Assistant 2.11 (beta) • “Pre-orders” on Home: albums in your library that are yet to be released, with their release date. Currently with Apple Music. • Thumbs down: the favorite chooser gets “Dislike”, and the heart shows it. • “Search on your services” in the album and track menus lets the server refetch an item or find a substitute. • Connection diagnostics check the stream address your server hands to players. Fixed • The Lock Screen showed a stale state for another player while the app was in the background. • CarPlay: playback errors on iOS 27 no longer quit the app. • Crash reports from iOS are included in the diagnostics recording. • The grid density briefly fell back to the default at launch before the purchase status was confirmed.

New in version 3.8 AI Radio • The Radio tab now has a "Radio | AI Radio" switch: your server's stations, started on a player of your choice, with a stop button while the show is on air. • Hosted segments are marked with a microphone symbol in the queue and in Now Playing. • A host for any queue: in a player's menu you can put an AI Radio host on whatever is currently playing, whether from your library, Spotify or Tidal. They talk between the tracks. • Stations can be part of multi-room scenes, and in CarPlay you'll find them under Library → AI Radio. • Requires the AI Radio plugin on your Music Assistant server (2.10.3 or newer, with a language model and a TTS voice). Library and Home • Albums by album artist: the album list can now be sorted by the album artist from the tags, as a shelf with all of an artist's albums together. The A–Z rail jumps by artist. • Every Home section has a chevron and its own page behind it, which keeps loading where the Home screen stops after ten tiles. • "For You", the AI suggestions, now sits at the top right of the Home screen. You can hide the button in "Customize Home". Local player • Hi-Res tracks can arrive as FLAC over Sendspin on request, lossless up to 24 bit. The quality level shows the expected data rate, and the local player can be renamed. • While CarPlay is connected, the local player stays reachable on the server, even when nothing is playing. Handling • The floating speaker button can be dragged to another corner after a long press when it's in the way. • Ambient sounds have their own motifs, which also appear as artwork while playing. • Running a multi-room scene now gives feedback instead of feeling like the tap was swallowed. • Czech is the tenth language. Fixed • Now Playing showed the last track played through Music Assistant for a player on an external source, such as Sonos radio. It now shows what is really playing. • Artwork flickered in web radio on every track change, especially in CarPlay. • The trial offer on first playback had not appeared since 3.6. • CarPlay crashed when navigation went too deep. • The diagnostics recording is shared as a ZIP and now arrives as an attachment in every mail app.

New in version 3.7.1 This version fixes two bugs. Now Playing on smaller iPhones • On iPhone 13, 14 and SE, Now Playing was cut off at the top and bottom – the icon row and the volume slider were missing. The cover now adapts to the available space, and everything is visible. • On iPhone SE, "Up Next" moves in as an icon next to Shuffle and Repeat, so everything fits on one screen. • For radio stations, "LIVE" now sits next to the provider instead of taking a line of its own. Shortcuts • In the Shortcuts app, "What to play" offered nothing to choose from. It now lists your playlists; typing freely still works. Open the app once after updating so the list fills up.

New in version 3.7 Portuguese, in two versions • Mobile MA now speaks Portuguese – separately for Brazil and for Portugal, each with its own forms of address and vocabulary. That makes nine languages: in the app, on Apple Watch, in the widgets and on Apple TV. Lyrics that really are lyrics • Lyrics now come from LRCLIB first and scroll in sync whenever a synced version exists. If your server's lyrics field holds something else – notes, credits, a description – you no longer get that instead of the song. • Below the text you can see where it came from: LRCLIB or your server's own metadata. Help in your language • The support page, the FAQ and the home page now open in the language you use the app in – no longer always English. When a language is added, you land there without updating the app. Which player is mine? • The player list and the player picker now show "This iPhone", "This iPad" or "This Apple TV" next to your own device. iOS only tells apps the generic model name, so the label helps you find it again. • When several players are playing at once, Siri and "Add to Queue" now always pick the same, predictable player. Improved and fixed • "Redeem code" is now right in the purchase screen – for Unlimited promo codes, on iPhone and Apple TV. • Volume: holding the button keeps counting in single steps instead of jumping. • AI suggestions: Apple Intelligence is no longer offered where it cannot deliver anything under iOS 26. • Bigger tap targets on the selection chips, on "Check again", "Technical details" and the detail buttons. • CarPlay says more clearly what happens when you add a track: it "is in the stack". • "What's New" shows the article for the version you have installed, not the newest one available. • Info & Help now carries our own logo at the top.

New in version 3.6 Playback position, rebuilt • Playback position has been rebuilt: it stops when playback pauses or stalls and keeps the right speed for podcasts and audiobooks – in the app, on the Lock Screen, in CarPlay, on Apple Watch and on Apple TV. Connections that tell you what's wrong • Connection errors now name the cause and the next step. A guided check helps you along, Cancel is always within reach, and switching profiles works even in the middle of a connection attempt. • Remote access no longer cancels its own connection attempt and falls back to your direct connection automatically. Setup now tells you up front when remote access over cellular needs a Home Assistant Cloud subscription, and the error names your alternatives. • Your iPhone shows up as a player again right after connecting, and the app is ready sooner after launch. New • Two new languages: Italian and Polish – in the app, on Apple Watch and in the widgets. • The timed sleep timer now runs on the server (Music Assistant 2.10 or later): it also stops network speakers while your iPhone is locked. 15, 30 and 60 minutes stay free; custom duration, "end of track" and "end of queue" are part of Unlimited from this version on. Both end modes work in the app as before. • Grid density: Comfortable, Standard or Dense for Home, Library and Favorites – on iPhone and iPad. Comfortable and Dense with Unlimited. • Two new themes: Green and Psychedelic (Unlimited). • Artist pages get "Play all" and "Queue all" – on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. • The heart in Now Playing and on player cards asks what you mean: song, album or artist. • "Show in Music Assistant": on a direct connection, jump from an album, artist or playlist straight into your server's web interface. • CarPlay: favorites grouped by type, large artist and album lists with an A–Z entry, podcast episodes newest first with episode number and date. Improved and fixed • The app no longer triggers automatic metadata refreshes on your server – your library entries stay as they are. • Customize Home: hidden sections now reliably stay hidden. If your server account lacks the rights for that, the app tells you as soon as you open the editor. • Podcasts: "Newest first" really shows the newest episode; episode numbers and titles stay as your provider has them. • Radio: title and artist are shown separately in Now Playing. • Sheets have a grabber instead of an X; the player overview no longer refreshes by accident. • iPad: with two windows open, both stay up to date. • Large text sizes: themes and app icons stay readable; artist images line up cleanly. • Support now runs through the support page and GitHub.

Hide or reorder it like any other Home section. Radio bookmarks that turn into real tracks – capture the song airing on a radio station, then resolve it against your library and providers. A resolved song can be played, queued, added to a playlist or favorited straight from the bookmark. Add to Queue everywhere – Play Next and Add to Queue on tracks, albums and playlists, always targeting whatever is playing now. Favorite in CarPlay – heart the current song, album and artist from the car. Per-speaker volume steps – choose how far the volume buttons jump, globally or per speaker. Similar music – find similar tracks, albums and artists. CarPlay Home now mirrors your app Home – same sections, order and visibility, including Continue Listening. More: connection details now survive app updates via iCloud, the edit-connection screen has a clear Cancel, and remote login shows the real server message instead of a generic error. Covers now load reliably across the app and widgets, including on servers that were picky about image routes. Multi-Room scenes you can manage. What's new in 2.6 Discover, redesigned. The Home screen now leads with a Discover grid powered by your Music Assistant server's recommendations: recently played, random picks, trending, continue listening and more. Reorder or hide any section, and jump straight to the layout from the new gear button. Know where your music comes from. Albums, artists, playlists and search results now show small source tags (SPO, AM, LOC, SMB ...) so you can tell at a glance which provider an item is on. Tap a tag to filter a list to that source. The filter even carries over when you open an album from an artist. A smarter Search. Results from different providers for the same item are merged into one row with all its source tags, so no more confusing duplicates. New scope chips let you search only your library or narrow to a single provider. Radio song memory. Heard something good on a radio station? Save it with one tap, on iPhone and in CarPlay, and find it again later. Party mode. A focused, shared-control view for when everyone wants to add to the queue. Favorite playlists now have their own tab in Favorites. Quick bug reporting. A new Report a Bug / Support entry in Settings opens our support pages or a prefilled email. Plus a lot of polish and fixes: reliable widget artwork, cleaner album track rows, correct covers for Apple Music playlists on Home, artist artwork and bios that load on the first try, playlists that no longer scroll on their own, tapping a song now plays from there, and a faster escape to network settings when a connection hangs.

What's new in 2.5 Remote Access via WebRTC – reach your server from anywhere. No port-forwarding, no VPN, no setup beyond your Remote ID and login. Listen to your library and stream local audio through the secure peer-to-peer tunnel. Multi-Room scenes on Home – one-tap section that fires your saved multi-room scenes from the Home screen. "+" tile opens the full management view. Album and artist info catches up automatically. The detail view now polls for descriptions and biography while you're still on the page, with a small loading indicator while it works. CarPlay improvements: alphabet picker on long lists, aligned caption columns, radio stations show artist / title / station name, queue progress stays synced, on-device playback as a CarPlay target. For You picks resolve to the right item in your library. Smarter name + artist matching means "not in your library" only appears when it really isn't. Listening history now includes plays from every client. The local store gets backfilled from your Music Assistant server on every connect. Audiobooks tab in Library and Favorites — chapter list, narrator credits, resume position, skip-by-seconds, playback rate. Widgets open the right item even when the app was on another tab. iPad Now Playing sheet uses the proper full-screen size. UI polish across the app: chip bars, sort menus, splash screen, library alphabet jumps, library covers render at consistent sizes.

No subscription, no recurring charge, Family Sharing included. • Hand the queue to another player: transfer the whole queue — current track, position, what's next — from your phone to the kitchen speaker in one tap. Pick the target from the queue header. • Save the queue as a playlist: built the perfect dinner-party mix on the fly? Save it as a playlist right from the queue header — no need to re-add tracks one by one. • Read up on the artist on Wikipedia: artist pages now link straight to the matching Wikipedia article in your language. German, French, Spanish or English, with sensible fallbacks. • Tap artist, album or queue from Now Playing: every title in Now Playing is now tappable. Artist opens the artist page, album opens the album, queue header opens the up-next list. Compilations skip the generic "Various Artists" credit and land on the real performer.

What's new in 2.3.1: • Podcasts: filter an episode list by Played / Unplayed with one tap. Episode titles drop the redundant "033 -" prefix so the actual title gets the room it deserves. Newest-first sorting stays put. • Widgets pick up the cover. Medium and large Discovery widgets now sit on a blurred version of the album cover instead of flat black, and the artwork rotates once an hour — not on every app switch. • Live radio shows what's actually playing.
