Aquarium Zen: Retro comes to the Mac. This release brings the calm of your hand-drawn aquarium to a whole new place: your Mac. The app now runs natively on macOS, so you can keep a quiet, living aquarium on your desktop while you work, read, or take a breath between tasks. Alarm sounds are mapped for the Mac, and in screensaver mode the window title bar steps out of the way for a clean, full-view aquarium. A fresh look A new hand-drawn angelfish app icon, in keeping with the hand-drawn style of every fish in the tank. Fits your screen Fish and the focus timer now scale to the size of your display, so the aquarium looks right whether it's on a phone, a tablet, or a large Mac screen. Prefer a different size? There's a Settings override to set your own scale. Background elements scale along with everything else for a balanced, uncluttered scene. Smoother and lighter Performance is improved across the board. The aquarium stays smooth even with lots of fish, startup stutter is gone, and the app is easier on memory and battery. When the aquarium isn't on screen, the render loop pauses to save energy. Better accessibility Accessibility is improved throughout, with clearer labels and hints so more people can enjoy a calm moment with the fish. Every fish in the aquarium is now hand-drawn. NEW ARTWORK All ten species (clownfish, neon tetra, zebra danio, guppy, betta, angelfish, swordtail, harlequin rasbora, molly and platy) have been redrawn by hand. LIVELIER FEEDING Fish now open their mouths as they strike, with dedicated artwork for the moment they feed. Feeding is more predictable too: size decides who eats whom, and the tank keeps its own population in balance. A MORE VARIED TANK Fish now vary in size, so no two aquariums look quite alike. SMOOTHER ANIMATION The animation engine has been rebuilt and every fish image optimized. Noticeably smoother on older devices, with a large reduction in memory use. FIXES Fish no longer spawn at the very edge of the screen in landscape mode.
