TerraField: Ranger Comms & SOS
Offline LoRa Mesh Messaging
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
TerraField keeps rangers, anti-poaching units and reserve teams connected where there is no cell signal. Pair your phone with a TerraSense LoRa radio and your messages, positions, SOS alerts and field reports travel over a long-range radio mesh, then sync to the cloud the moment a connection returns.
Built in South Africa for game reserves and conservation teams.
WORKS WITH NO SIGNAL
• Messages, positions and SOS alerts hop radio to radio across the reserve, with no cell towers involved
• Anything that needs the internet, such as photos, waits safely on the phone and syncs automatically later
• TerraSense Nomad gateways link the mesh to the cloud, so base sees the team live
EMERGENCY SOS
• One tap raises an SOS on its own top-priority lane
• Say what's wrong and it's transcribed on the phone
• SOS is never silenced by mutes, and it goes out over radio when there's no signal
LIVE TEAM MAP
• See your team, radios and vehicles on one map
• Geofences, patrol trails, wildlife sightings and offline map packs
• Compass and AR guidance to any person, place or sighting
MESSAGING
• Direct messages, groups and team channels
• Sent over the internet when there's signal and over the radio mesh when there isn't, with delivery receipts either way
OBSERVATIONS, REPORTS AND TASKS
• Log sightings and incidents by voice, text or photo, with GPS
• Voice notes are transcribed on the phone itself
• Tasks with start and finish times, distance and a GPS trail
• Scan fuel slips to track vehicle costs
HEY TERRA
• Ask questions about your reserve by voice or text, answered only from your own team's data
PRIVACY YOU CONTROL
• Choose whether your location is shared, how precisely, when and with whom
• Lock the app with Face ID or your fingerprint
FOR MANAGERS
Reserve managers see the live map, people, reports, observations, tasks, attendance and vehicle activity in the TerraSense web portal.
WHAT YOU NEED
• iPhone with iOS 15.1 or later
• A TerraSense LoRa radio (Meshtastic-compatible) for off-grid use. Without a radio, TerraField works over mobile data or Wi-Fi.
Available in English, Afrikaans, Zulu, Swahili, Portuguese, French and Spanish.
