Open any folder — browse photos and video, rate, keyword, filter, organize, export. Metadata lives in XMP sidecars. No import, no catalog, no subscription.
This is for those of us for whose photos and video are already organized in folders. Photo Archive Lite works with that — no import step, no proprietary catalog, no waiting.
Open a folder and you're browsing. Rate with number keys, flag picks, add keywords, play clips in place. Everything writes to standard XMP sidecar files that any XMP-aware tool can read.
FAST BROWSING
Thumbnails load progressively — photos and video side by side, each clip with a poster frame and its duration. A persistent cache means revisiting a folder is nearly instant. RAW and JPEG versions of the same photo are grouped.
VIDEO IN THE SAME PLACE
Browse MOV, MP4, and M4V clips alongside your stills — rate, flag, keyword, and filter them exactly like photos. Play them right in the loupe with native controls: play, pause, scrub, and skip back and forward — no hand-off to another app.
KEYBOARD-FIRST WORKFLOW
1-5 for ratings, P/U/X for pick/unflag/reject. Arrow keys navigate, Space opens the loupe (and plays a video). Every action works on multi-select. Designed for photographers with a folder-based archive.
ORGANIZE IN PLACE
Move, copy, and delete photos and clips — and create, rename, and reorganize folders — without leaving the app. The whole shot travels together: a RAW, its JPEG, and its XMP sidecar move as one. Everything is undoable, and deletes go to the Trash.
POWERFUL FILTERING
Filter by rating, pick status, file type, keywords, date range, and copyright status. A second filter row lets you narrow by camera, lens, focal length, aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Quick presets get you to "All Picks" or "Unrated" in one click.
EXPORT
Export selections as JPEG with quality presets (Web/Print/Archive), resize options, and filename patterns. Ratings, keywords, and rights travel with the file as embedded XMP. Three delivery modes: full metadata, rights-only for client delivery, or none for anonymous web sharing.
XMP SIDECARS — YOUR METADATA, YOUR FILES
No database. No lock-in. Ratings, keywords, and copyright live in standard .xmp files next to your photos. Delete the app and your metadata stays. Move folders between drives and everything follows.
One-time purchase. No subscription, no account, no cloud.
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
FIXED
- Export names that include a sequence number (Date-Sequence, Camera-Date-Sequence) now number the photos in the order you see them in the grid. Before, the numbering could come out in a different order each time.
- The Export sheet could appear with its left and right edges cut off. The Filename Pattern is now a pop-up menu.
- A date filter now reads as what it covers. A three-day range shows its dates, not just the year.
NEW
- Export… is in the right-click menu of a photo, and exports the whole selection when the photo is part of one.
IMPROVED
- A saved view with unsaved changes now shows a dot beside its name in the sidebar. Leaving it tells you once that the changes weren't saved, and hovering gives the way back: click the view to restore what you saved.
