Spartans is the all-in-one training platform built for athletes who are serious
about performance. Whether you train solo, work with a coach, or manage a full
roster of athletes, Spartans gives you the tools to plan, track, and analyze
every aspect of your training — with precision.
STRUCTURED TRAINING, YOUR WAY
Build fully customized workout plans split across as many training days as you
need. Log sets, reps, and weights for each exercise, mark rest intervals, and
let Spartans do the analysis. A real-time session timer keeps every second of
your training accounted for. When a session ends, your data is stored
permanently so you can track long-term progression.
PERSONAL RECORDS & ACHIEVEMENT SYSTEM
Spartans automatically detects when you hit a new all-time personal record mid-
session and celebrates it in real time with a gold banner. Unlock over 130
achievements across 22+ exercise categories — from your first 100 kg squat to
elite-level diamond-tier milestones. Six tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum,
Diamond, and Legend.
INTELLIGENT WORKOUT ANALYSIS
The built-in AI coach analyzes your training patterns — consistency score, peak
training days, volume progression velocity, rest day ratios, and more — then
generates personalized diagnoses with actionable adjustments and exercise
suggestions tailored to your specific profile. A dedicated "Your Patterns" grid
surfaces these insights at a glance.
PRECISION NUTRITION TRACKING
Scan product barcodes to instantly log real food with product photos pulled
directly from the database. Browse your saved foods — each displays its actual
product image. Log meals and track calories, protein, carbs, and fat against
your daily targets. Swipe any logged food item to remove it from a meal.
Spartans resets your daily intake at midnight so every day starts clean.
COACH & TEAM MANAGEMENT
Coaches can invite athletes, assign custom workout and diet plans, and monitor
progress across their entire roster. Athletes receive their assigned plans
directly in the app and follow a guided experience optimized for execution, not
distraction.
BODY METRIC TRACKING
Log body weight, body fat percentage, and muscle mass over time. Visualize
progress with interactive charts and trend lines. Every data point is stored and
available for historical review.
Spartans is built for athletes who demand more from their tools.

2.3.1 May 24
Spartans 2.3 brings a smarter diet engine, per-set workout history, and
fully redesigned adaptive widgets!
NEW · Suggested grams when adding foods
When assigning a food to a meal, the app automatically calculates the optimal
gram amount to close your remaining macro gap for the day. The meal picker
displays the suggestion inline.
NEW · Automatic kcal-overflow trimming
If adding a food would push a meal over its kcal budget, the app trims the
new item's grams to fit exactly. A toast notification tells you what was
adjusted.
NEW · Nutrition diary (last 30 days)
Use the date arrows to browse what you ate on any day in the past month.
History is saved automatically each day.
NEW · Quick-add food per meal
Tap the "+" button on any meal card to open the food search directly linked
to that meal — no extra steps required.
NEW · Advanced food editor
Long-press any food in your plan to:
· Adjust its grams
· Move it to a different meal
· Lock it so it's excluded from automatic adjustments
NEW · Food name filter
Manually created food names are validated in real time. Empty, too-short,
too-long, or inappropriate names show a clear error before saving.
IMPROVEMENT · Diet plan builder (AUTO)
When creating or editing your plan:
· New independent fields for carbohydrates and fat
· AUTO button: computes carbs and fat from total kcal + protein,
using goal-based fat percentages
(cut: 28% fat · maintenance: 25% · volume: 22%)
· Live calorie-balance indicator: shows whether your macros add up
to your kcal target
IMPROVEMENT · Per-set workout history
The exercise card now shows all sets from your last session
(e.g. 80×8 85×8 85×8) instead of just the first-set hint.
A "new" badge appears on weight/reps fields you've updated versus last time.
IMPROVEMENT · Adaptive widgets (3 sizes)
Android Nutrition and Workout widgets now scale to whatever size you choose
on your home screen:
· Small: calories consumed + progress bar
· Medium: kcal + main macros + water
· Large: full panel with all macros, water, and progress bars

2.1.4 May 5
Version 2.1.3 introduces body measurement segmentation in the Progress module, adding dedicated muscle circumference tracking, native iOS widgets, and significant diet module improvements. This version also includes dependency updates for Expo SDK 54 compatibility.
1. PROGRESS MODULE — MEASUREMENT SEGMENTATION
Navigation Bar
The Progress screen now features a top-level navigation bar with two distinct sections: Measures and Muscles. This allows users to navigate between body composition tracking and anatomical circumference logging without leaving the screen.
Body Composition (Measures)

— Shoulders
— Forearm
— Thigh
— Calf
— Waist
— Hips
— Neck
Each muscle group is displayed as an individual card showing the most recently logged measurement in centimeters and the date it was recorded. Tapping the add button on any card opens a focused input sheet for that muscle group. Measurements are stored persistently and are available across sessions. All labels and prompts are fully localized in Spanish and English.
2. IOS WIDGETS
Native iOS widgets have been implemented via the expo-widget-bridge module:
WorkoutWidget
Displays the current workout session status, including active exercise and rest timer countdown.
NutritionWidget
Shows daily calorie and macro progress (protein, carbs, fat) at a glance.
Both widgets support 2x2 cell size and update every 30 minutes.

2.1.3 May 3
Version 2.1.2 introduces body measurement segmentation in the Progress module, adding dedicated muscle circumference tracking alongside the existing body composition metrics. The update also includes targeted dependency updates to maintain full compatibility with the Expo 54 SDK.
1. PROGRESS MODULE — MEASUREMENT SEGMENTATION
Navigation Bar
The Progress screen now features a top-level navigation bar with two distinct sections: Measures and Muscles. This replaces the previous single-view layout and allows users to navigate between body composition tracking and anatomical circumference logging without leaving the screen.
Body Composition (Measures)
The existing body composition tracking — weight, body fat percentage, and muscle mass — is preserved without modification under the Measures tab. All previously logged data, evolution charts, and timeline cards remain fully accessible.
Muscle Circumference Tracking (Muscles)
A new Muscles tab allows users to log and track the circumference of nine individual muscle groups:
— Biceps
— Chest
— Shoulders
— Forearm
— Thigh
— Calf
— Waist
— Hips
2. DEPENDENCY UPDATES
The following packages were updated to their SDK 54 compatible versions. No behavioral changes are introduced by these updates.
@shopify/flash-list 2.3.1 → 2.0.2
expo 54.0.33 → 54.0.34
expo-auth-session 55.0.9 → 7.0.11
expo-crypto 15.0.8 → 15.0.9
expo-device 55.0.10 → 8.0.10
expo-file-system 19.0.21 → 19.0.22
expo-image-picker 17.0.10 → 17.0.11
expo-linking 8.0.11 → 8.0.12
expo-notifications 0.32.16 → 0.32.17
expo-splash-screen 55.0.12 → 31.0.13
expo-web-browser 15.0.10 → 15.0.11
Stale npm overrides for expo-auth-session and expo-crypto were removed from package.json. These overrides were applied as temporary compatibility shims in a prior version and are no longer required.
3. LOCALIZATION
Added translation keys for the muscle circumference module in Spanish and English, including section labels, muscle group names, measurement input prompts, and empty-state strings.
4. TECHNICAL NOTES
No new third-party dependencies were introduced. Muscle circumference measurements are stored in the existing BodyMetric table using new metricType values (neck, forearm) alongside the previously supported types. No schema migrations are required for users upgrading from v2.1.1; the new columns are created on demand via ADD COLUMN IF NOT EXISTS on first use.
Permissions in use (unchanged from v2.1.1):
Notifications — training reminders and water reminders (user-granted)
Camera — barcode scanner for food logging (user-granted)
Photo Library — profile avatar selection (user-granted)
Network — database sync, food search, authentication
2.1.2 May 1
Version 2.1.1 introduces a complete redesign of the Diet module, a smarter notification system that adapts to each user's training schedule, and a session persistence fix that prevents users from being signed out after an app update.
1. DIET MODULE
Food Search
Users can now search over 3 million products in real time through the Open Food Facts database. Results include product images, macronutrients (calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat), and serving sizes. Duplicate entries are automatically filtered. Search is fully localized in Spanish and English.
Food Edit Modal
Tapping any logged food item opens an edit modal where users can adjust portion size in grams, milliliters, or serving units, with live macro recalculation before saving. Items can be moved between meals or deleted individually from within the same modal.
Meal Cards and Saved Foods
Visual and performance improvements to meal cards and the saved foods list. Changes made through the edit modal are reflected immediately without requiring a manual refresh.
2. NOTIFICATION SYSTEM
Smart Training Reminder
The previous system scheduled up to 8 fixed hourly notifications per day. This has been replaced by a single smart daily reminder that fires at the hour the user most frequently trains, calculated from their workout history using a recency-weighted algorithm. When no history is available, the reminder defaults to 18:00 local time. The predicted hour is recalculated after each completed session and cached locally. The reminder is scheduled at most once per calendar day regardless of how many times the app is opened.
Water Reminders
Five daily hydration reminders are now scheduled at 09:00, 11:00, 13:00, 16:00, and 19:00 local time. Messages rotate through five unique prompts per language. Notifications are silent and scheduled once per day on the first app launch. All notifications respect the system-level permission granted by the user. Declining notification permission has no impact on core app functionality.
3. SESSION PERSISTENCE
Fixed a bug where users were signed out after updating the app. The Clerk v2 authentication SDK requires a deleteToken method in the token cache implementation. This method was absent, causing the token lifecycle to enter an inconsistent state on relaunch following an update. The fix adds deleteToken to the SecureStore-backed token cache, ensuring sessions are fully preserved across app updates.
4. LOCALIZATION
Added translation keys for the new food search and edit flows in Spanish and English. Water notification messages and smart training reminders are fully localized in both languages.
2.1.1 Apr 28
v2.1.0 is a major feature release spanning workout, nutrition, and UX — built
on top of every improvement introduced since launch.
NUTRITION — FOOD IMAGES
• Logged food items now display the actual product photo instead of a generic
icon — photos are fetched directly from Open Food Facts when you scan a barcode
• Saved foods also show product images; foods saved before this update
automatically retrieve their image from the Open Food Facts CDN using the
stored barcode — no re-scanning required
• If no product photo is available, a colored initial avatar is shown as fallback
• Swipe a food item to the right inside any meal to get a delete confirmation
and remove it instantly — no need to rebuild the meal from scratch
• Keyboard no longer obscures the water intake input on the hydration modal
WORKOUT — PR DETECTION & HISTORY
• Real-time Personal Record banner — a gold animated banner appears mid-session
the moment a set exceeds your all-time best weight on any exercise
• Previous session data shown per-set — each set row now displays the weight you
lifted in your last session for that exact set position, not just the first set
• Session summary screen redesigned with duration, exercise count, volume, and
RPE displayed after finishing a workout
ACHIEVEMENTS — DIAMOND TIER
• New Diamond tier added between Platinum and Legend — the hardest milestones
in the app
• 6 new Diamond-tier achievements: Bench 190 kg, Squat 265 kg, Deadlift 320 kg,
OHP 130 kg, 2 million kg total volume, 300 training days
• Total achievements now exceed 130 across 22+ exercise categories
WORKOUT ANALYSIS — YOUR PATTERNS
• New "Your Patterns" grid in the Analysis section surfaces four key metrics:
Consistency Score, Peak Training Day, Volume Progression Velocity, and
Average Rest Days — all computed automatically from your training history
• Two new smart recommendations: "Consistency Low" (flagged when fewer than
50% of weeks have active training) and "Volume Spike" (flagged when week-
over-week volume jumps more than 20%)
GENERAL
• Performance and stability improvements throughout
