AVAP
Alabama Victim Assistance
Free
AVAP is a free resource app developed with VOCAL Alabama to help victims of violent crime and other users quickly find victim-support and community assistance services across Alabama. AVAP is not a crime reporting tool and does not collect, process, or submit criminal reports to law enforcement. Its purpose is to help users search by ZIP code, view nearby service providers, and connect directly with support organizations. The app was designed with privacy, safety, accessibility, and ease of use in mind, especially for people in urgent or sensitive situations. Users do not need to create an account to browse resources, and no personal data is required to access resource information. To provide a more integrated and functional iOS experience, AVAP incorporates native device features. When a user selects a service provider’s address, the app uses Apple’s native Maps integration to open the location directly in Apple Maps for directions and navigation. This ensures a seamless transition from the app to real-world assistance using built-in iOS functionality.
