New: scan a whole stack of papers right inside iGrade. Pages go straight in, in order.
iGrade is an AI grading assistant — built by a teacher, for teachers.
Photograph your answer key. Photograph your students' papers. iGrade tells you what's right, what's wrong, and what it's not sure about. You stay in charge of every grade and all feedback.
iGrade doesn't replace your judgment. It replaces the stack of papers on your kitchen table.
WHAT iGRADE DOES
Reads handwritten answers from photos of paper tests
Grades multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, short answer, and free response
Flags answers it isn't sure about — so you can review before a grade is final
Warns you when a student's answers look shifted by a line, so one skipped line doesn't mark the rest of the test wrong
Summarizes class performance to help you decide what to reteach
Exports per-student results as CSV you can bring into most gradebooks
WHAT iGRADE DOESN'T DO
Mark your papers (nothing is ever written on the physical page)
Write feedback for students (that stays with you)
Store student paper images (they are deleted after grading)
Sell, share for advertising, or train on your students' personal data — ever
PRIVACY IS THE DEFAULT, NOT A FEATURE
iGrade is designed to be restrictive about how much student identifying information ever travels digitally in association with a paper. Before a student page leaves your phone, iGrade looks for the student's name and covers it. We also strip names and IDs from extracted text, and we don't keep them. Student paper images are processed for grading only, are not used to build profiles, and are deleted after grading.
Answer keys are kept so you can reuse them. If you photograph a student's paper to use as your key, that image is stored with your saved keys until you delete it.
There are no student accounts — students never touch iGrade. No automated system catches everything, so cropping identifying information before uploading is recommended best practice.
HOW IT WORKS
Snap a photo of your answer key
Snap photos of your students' papers (one or many)
Review anything iGrade flagged for your attention
Adjust anything you disagree with, and export results if you wish
BUILT BY A TEACHER
I have taught in NY at the middle and high school level for 26 years. I built iGrade because I wanted a grading assistant that would dramatically speed up the manual labor of grading but stay honest about its uncertainty. I wanted it to stand out as unique because it doesn't seek student data and keeps it private by default. It wasn't worth building to me if it wasn't going to make my own daily life as a teacher better.

Think about the best parts and most challenging parts of teaching. The best moments are when a student’s face gains that AH HAH moment as a concept is finally absorbed, while the grading of papers can really bog down the proverbial machine as it is so time consuming. I always imagined winning the lottery and hiring someone to complete the grading portion of my day. Well now, iGrade makes it possible without the fallacy of the lottery dream. While I have only used it a half dozen times, I can tell you that the APP is as billed. I was skeptical of reliability and accuracy. I had ZERO issues with either of them ( I have started small with 20 words Spelling Assessments that also utilize 4 Bonus words). The APP is fast, convenient and has become a part of my grading life. Give it a try for yourself and you will feel so inclined to get a colleague on board.
Impressive

The app is simple and accurate and does what it says. What more can you ask for. Game changing time savings. It’s not meant to completely replace your input or oversight - but it truly can transform the way you work focusing more on the high value task of proving feedback of why an answer is wrong vs the low value of simply plowing through and grading. I am nearing retirement and wish I had this 20 years ago. Great work to the developer ! Keep it up!
So Great!!!

This app is a game changer. I have tried many apps to help me with the time consuming NGSS biology standards and I ended up cancelling after the trial period. This app however has a seamless interface, is easy to use, and saves me a ton of time. Highly recommend…this is coming from a veteran teacher of 28 years.
Awesome Grading App!

I am a middle school science teacher with over 100 students to grade. I find iGrade easy to use and that it saves me an incredible amount of time grading! It accurately can grade an entire batch of students’ papers at once, even accurately interpreting students’ handwriting!
Scan a whole stack inside iGrade. Tap Add Pages → Scan Multiple Pages to photograph page after page with your iPhone's built-in document scanner; pages go straight into iGrade in the order you scan them.
Also new in this version:
- A simpler Add Pages menu: Take Photo, Scan Multiple Pages, Photo Library (numbered in the order you tap), or Choose File (PDF).
- Photos from your library show progress right away, and your screen stays on while pages upload.
- If a page fails to upload, iGrade retries it and holds its place, so no student ends up with another student's page.
- If your connection drops while a paper is grading, iGrade picks up the finished result instead of marking the paper failed.
- Each student's AI summary always matches that student, including after Try Again.
- A new card shows how iGrade understood your grading instructions.
- Essays you choose to hold are marked "Held — not scored" and kept out of the class average.
