Your camera roll has hundreds of videos you will never open again. Put the next one in muuk instead. By New Year it is one video you will actually sit through.
Filmed all year. Never watched it back.
muuk is where the next clip goes instead of the camera roll. Hold the record button for a second, or let a timelapse run for an hour — every clip lines up in the order you filmed it and exports as one video. There is no editing step, because there is nothing to assemble.
It is a vlog camera for people who have no intention of making a vlog. Point it at the ordinary parts. Those are the ones you will want back.
■ What ends up in muuk
• Kids in motion — the shrug, the wobble, the walk a photo cannot hold
• A regular week: dinner, the drive, the dog taking up the whole couch
• Trips, birthdays, the long weekend you would otherwise only have photos of
• Work, study, a room getting built — hours compressed into one timelapse
■ Main features
(1) Hold the record button to keep just a moment
(2) Timelapse for the long stretches — a blink or an hour, one camera
(3) Quick edits right on the camera screen: captions, playback speed, date stamp
(4) Font and layout controls for captions and the date — fuss over it, or do not
(5) Export your clips as one vlog, in the order you filmed them. Single clips can be shared too
■ What muuk is trying to do
Get rid of two thoughts: "I should film this properly" and "I will have to edit this later."
Some days you will set the type and get it looking right. Most days you will film four seconds and put the phone down. Both count the same.
A perfect video you never finish is worth less than a year of ordinary ones. The payoff comes later, when you look back and the days are actually there.
Your clips stay on your device. No account, no upload, nothing to sign in to.
■ Good to know
• Thoughts, requests, complaints: leave a review, or use the form at the top of the Settings screen. Every message gets read
