NEW — Retirement Checklist A T-minus timeline of what has to happen and when: TAP, service records, SkillBridge, the BDD claim window, DD Form 2656, scheduling your final move with the TMO, using your final-move entitlement before that clock runs out, TRICARE enrollment, the DD-214 review, and verifying your first retired paycheck against the app's own statement. Every item cites its statute or agency page, and shows the days remaining in its window. Check something off and it collapses to a single line, so what's still ahead of you stays in view. NEW — The military income statement Your retirement income itemized like a pay stub: gross retired pay, minus the SBP premium, minus federal and state tax, plus VA compensation, every line auditable to its source. It projects before your retirement date and becomes your current statement after it. CORRECTED — The BRS lump-sum election The lump-sum figure has been rebuilt against DoD's published methodology and verified against DoD's own calculator. It now uses your date of birth for the reduced-pay window instead of assuming an age at enlistment, compounds monthly at the correct effective-annual rate, applies DoD's published 2026 discount rate, and derives your Social Security full retirement age from your birth year. Earlier versions could be off by several percent. If you are a chapter 61 (disability) retiree, the app now tells you the election isn't available to you instead of showing a number you can't act on. FIXED — Crash when removing a VA rating Deleting a disability rating could crash the app. Thanks to those who reported it. Also in this release: VA combined-rating math shown step by step, and the 50-state treatment of military retired pay. REMOVED I removed the long-horizon modeling — if you were using that--sorry. But I feel that level of modeling and visualization is better served in a web app with spreadsheets. I'm focusing this app more on the check list and the income prediction.

Data correction: the bundled 2026 military basic pay table now matches the official DoD/DFAS table (Executive Order 14368, effective January 1, 2026), including the 2025 junior-enlisted pay raise. Previous versions understated basic pay -- and therefore retirement pay estimates -- for most grades. New automated integrity checks pin the table to official published rates so this stays correct.

v2.0 turns MilitaryRetire into a live retirement workbench.
