A new Digital Bansuri, a new look, and Basurify in your car. PLAY THE BANSURI Every note a real bansuri can play — all 25 of them, across three octaves, komal and tivra included — recorded note by note from an actual flute. Tap a note to sound it, press and hold to sustain it, or turn on Loop to leave a note ringing hands-free and play along on your own bansuri. The flute on screen shows the fingering for whatever is sounding, and a half-covered hole is now drawn as half covered, so you pick up the fingering while you play. A NEW LOOK Home, Learn, Courses, Library, Community and Profile have all been redesigned, with proper dark mode throughout. CARPLAY Browse your library and pick up where you left off, from the car. BIGGER SCREENS Real iPad and Android tablet layouts, including a notation view that uses the extra space instead of stretching into it. ALSO NEW Video lessons in the Library. Practice tempo and repeat count are remembered, so you're not setting them again on every notation. Free users can now see what Practice Mode does before subscribing. The Tuner, Riyaz metronome, and virtual flute could let your phone's screen lock itself mid-session. Now they keep the screen awake the whole time you're using them, just like notation Practice Mode already did.

Smoother Practice Mode, and a faster start. Looping an alankar, song, or raga in Practice Mode used to have a small gap or stutter every time it repeated, and the highlighted note could jump ahead of the music right as a new loop began. Both are fixed — repeats now play back-to-back with nothing in between, and the highlight stays right where the sound is through the loop. Also faster: new users could see up to 20 seconds of loading screens while signing up (after login, and again after each permission screen). That's now a couple of seconds at most, so you're into the app much quicker.

Riyaz is here — a new daily practice companion. Play along to a tabla loop, follow the matra counter as it marks sam and the vibhags, and set the tempo to match how you're feeling today. Find it right on your Home screen. Fixed a bug where finishing a course lesson could show "Saved locally" and ask you to redo the lesson, even when you were online. Progress now saves reliably the first time.
