What's New in 1.4 Hurricanes and tropical storms • See active hurricanes and tropical storms right on the radar, with the forecast cone, track and watches and warnings. • Tap the storm button for a list of active storms, and jump to any of them. • Tap a watch or warning line to see what it means. Radar • Tap any warning outline to read the full National Weather Service alert. • New locate button: centers the map on you and zooms in to the most detailed view. • Sharper close-up radar: it switches to the nearest radar's high-detail picture sooner, and that picture opens much faster. • The map appears instantly when you open the radar, and the rain fades in as it loads. • A new, cleaner base map made for weather. • Warning outlines and storm graphics now move smoothly with the map when you pan or zoom. • Canada now animates in step with the US when you zoom out. • Smoother hand-off between close-up and regional radar, with no gray haze at the edge. Faster and more reliable • Your weather shows up faster when you open the app. • Fewer background network requests at launch. • Many smaller fixes and performance improvements.

Temperatures • The “Feels” numbers under High and Low now show the day’s actual warmest and coldest feels-like, not two fixed times of day. • New Show Both Units setting: turn it off to see only °F or only °C. • New installs start in your region’s usual unit. Radar • Storms, warnings, storm reports and lightning stay on the map if your connection drops for a moment. • Warning areas no longer drop out when you zoom in close, and they stay up until they actually end. • Storm reports are labeled by what was actually reported. • Lightning only downloads while its layer is on, which saves data. Fixes • Fixed a crash on the Marine forecast around the night clocks fall back.
