Rounds are the method: reread one book until every word sticks. Words and examples are read in a natural voice that ships inside the app — no internet needed.
Nine90 is a vocabulary app for people aiming at a perfect 990 on the TOEIC® test. In Korean, 990 is read "gugugong" (구구공), which is the app's Korean name.
A word you see once fades. A word you see ten times stays. Nine90 focuses on one method: rounds that keep bringing back the words you missed.
■ Learn in rounds
10 words make a chapter, 10 chapters make a volume. Finish every volume and a round is complete. The next round can cover everything or only the words you marked as unknown. A word counts as mastered only after "I know it" in two rounds in a row, so half-known words cannot slip through.
■ Unknown words stay until you know them
Words you mark as unknown never disappear until you get them right. Review them between chapters or from the home screen, as cards or in the 3-second quiz.
■ 3-second quiz
If you cannot pick the meaning within 3 seconds, you do not know the word. Answer while the gauge shrinks, and repeat until the answer comes instantly. Get it right and the word leaves the unknown list on the spot.
■ Start from your level
A 12-question placement test recommends one of four levels: Beginner, Intermediate, Upper-intermediate and Advanced. Harder words answered correctly push the result higher. You can switch levels any time, and progress is kept per level.
■ Progress as a bookshelf
Each level has its own color, and a red bookmark marks the volume you are reading. See how far you have come at a glance.
■ Everything on one card
Phonetic transcription, etymology and memory hints, a business example sentence with translation. One tap reads the word and the example aloud in a native voice, with a repeat-three-times option.
■ Auto study mode
One car button for the commute. Starting with your unknown words, each card is read English, meaning, English, and then moves on by itself. It keeps going with the screen off, and your earphone buttons control play, pause and next.
■ Study record
See how many words you tried each day, how many you missed, and how your estimated score changes over time.
■ No login, records kept for good
No sign-up, no login. Progress, round counts and mastery are saved automatically to your own iCloud and come back after a reinstall. No ads, tracking or analytics.
■ The first volume is free
The whole first volume of your level (10 chapters, 100 words) is free, with every feature included. From volume 2 you need a pass: a yearly subscription, a monthly subscription, or a one-time lifetime pass. Any of them opens all 4 levels and 4,000 words. Subscriptions can be cancelled any time and are restored through your Apple account on a new device.

Every word and example sentence is read in a natural, human-sounding voice, and the meanings are read in a calm newsreader tone. All of the audio ships inside the app, so it plays instantly on the subway or on a plane — no internet needed. The speaker button, the three-times repeat and auto-study all use it. (The audio is pre-rendered with AI voice models.)
