Muster Mate: Yacht Crew App
Hours of Rest, Duties & Drills
Only for iPhone
Free
Muster Mate is the crew companion app for The Muster App — the maritime safety platform trusted by superyachts worldwide.
Every crew member needs to know their role in an emergency. Muster Mate puts your muster duties, abandon ship station and safety assignments in your pocket — always accessible, always up to date.
MUSTER DUTIES
View your assigned duties for every emergency scenario configured by your vessel. Fire, man overboard, abandon ship — know exactly what you need to do, where to go, and what equipment to bring.
ABANDON SHIP STATIONS
See your liferaft or lifeboat assignment, station procedures, and who else is assigned with you. Leaders and duties are clearly marked so everyone knows their role.
DELIVERIES
Log deliveries with photos as they arrive on board. The built-in camera with OCR automatically matches delivery labels to crew members and notifies the right person.
PUSH NOTIFICATIONS
Get notified instantly when your duties change, a delivery arrives for you, or your Head of Department needs your attention.
MULTI-YACHT SUPPORT
Work on multiple vessels? Switch between yachts seamlessly. Each yacht's data is completely isolated and secure.
DESIGNED FOR CREW
Built specifically for superyacht crew by people who understand the industry. Clean, fast, and works offline when you need it most.
Muster Mate requires an active vessel account on The Muster App. Ask your captain or safety officer for an access code to get started.
more The Worklist. See the jobs given to you and your department in one place. Add a job with a photo, talk it through in its own thread, and mark it done when it's finished.
Voice notes. Tap the mic to leave a voice note on a job, a safety report or a checklist item, listen back before you send it, or send it straight away.
Also in this update: Stores opens on every department, a smoother menu when you reorder it, the right day letters on your quiz streak, and a number of small fixes.

Meet Hannah. Your daily quiz reminders now come from Hannah, and she's with you on every quiz card, before and after you play.
A new Training screen. See the one course to do next, how many of your courses you've finished, and browse every course by folder.
Learn from the ones you miss. After the quiz, tap the questions you got wrong to see your answer and the right one.
Also in this update: a cleaner streak card and result screen, and a number of small fixes.
1.9.14 Oct 5
Hours of Rest is more reliable. Every save now reaches your vessel, even if your phone has been in the background for a long time. Submit always sends the month you have on screen, and a month can't be sent before it has ended.
Reviewed days are protected. Once your Head of Department has reviewed a day, bulk changes skip it, and if a change can't be saved you'll see which day it is with a one-tap Undo.
Visitors on board by type. On board groups visitors by their type, such as Contractor or Management, with a count for each.
Also in this update: a clearer daily quiz card, a new way to share Muster Mate with crew on other boats, and a number of small fixes.
1.9.13 Oct 2
Fixed a bug stopping the app opening in iOS.27

Guests
• On board groups guests by party. Open a party to see who is with it.
• VIP guests are marked with a gold star and sit at the top of their party.
• VIP alerts: choose to hear when a VIP boards or goes ashore, when a whole party is back on board, and get a reminder at a time you pick if anyone is still ashore. Alerts are your own and pause while you are on leave.
Daily quiz
• Finishing a round shows a result card with one of the crew cheering you on.
Hours of Rest
• A department review waits until the seafarer has added their note to a red day, and the reminder to add it comes every couple of hours.
Safety reports
• Reports open straight away on slow wifi, from the copy already on your phone.
Stores & Spares
• The count is the field: type it and save with one button, or Cancel.
• Sheets lift above the keyboard, and Done closes the sheet at once.
Small fixes throughout.
1.9.11 Sep 25
Pushes land on a card: a completed checklist shows who did it and what passed, with Review into the submission; the daily quiz shows your streak and week; a safety report reply opens the thread. The streak flame changes colour at milestones and celebrates. Safety reports have their own page with a thread and replies. Stores gets one button for Scan, Add item and New folder, several photos per item and full-screen viewing. Drag to reorder the drawer. Small fixes throughout.
1.9.10 Sep 12
-Pre-boarding: check a visitor's name and ID at the gangway from More or the menu. They finish check-in at the iPad with the ID already in place.
-Tap to focus and a clearer capture on the ID scan.
-The host's arrival card says when a visitor signed in with a visitor pass.
1.9.9 Sep 10
Checklists: only Required items need an answer before you submit. Blank items are listed at submit to mark N/A or strike through, with an optional reason. Compact view puts the question on its own line with the person, tags and answer control beneath. The Android back button goes up one level in a checklist. Small fixes throughout.
1.9.8 Sep 8
On board: see who is on the vessel from your phone. Open the menu and tap On board for the souls on board figure, with crew by department, visitors and guests underneath. Switch between Everyone, On board and Ashore, search a name, and tap anyone to see when they came aboard or went ashore, in ship's time.

Hours of Rest updates:
• Your last day can't go missing. Finishing a month used to submit it
before that final day had finished saving.
• If the bridge sends a month back, you're told straight away, with the
reason they gave, and it stays on the day you need to fix.
1.9.5 Sep 1
Hours of rest: a work period ending exactly at midnight now records correctly instead of throwing the next day out. Clearing a day leaves it blank rather than pre-filled. Breaks under an hour are flagged as not counting toward rest, with the MCA rule quoted.
Daily quiz: a clearer results screen, no wait after the last answer, and tap-the-spot questions now work properly with portrait photos.
1.9.4 Aug 31
Your signed Hours of Rest sheets, on your phone (They still come via email as usual)
- Documents now has a Hours of Rest section: every month the Master has signed off, by year, opening on a tap. Nothing is downloaded to your phone
- When someone reviews one of your rest-hour days, you get told - and tapping the notification takes you straight to that day
- Heads of Department and countersigners get a card saying who needs their comment, with a button that goes straight to the sheet
- My devices shows one entry per phone, and signing out removes it
- Switching vessel is now on the Menu, between Signature and My devices
1.9.3 Aug 29
A new icon, and a menu that gets you anywhere on board.
- The app has a new icon: the M from our own name, white on coral
- Tap the vessel name to open the menu. Everything the app can do is in one
place, and switching vessel has moved to Menu > Account > Vessels
- Home keeps your three most-used actions in reach: All Hands, Report and
Training. The centre button holds the rest, and you choose what goes there
- Documents now reads like Checklists: one card per section instead of a wall of tiles
- Your muster role on Home opens the duties that go with it
- Signing a policy survives locking your phone, and works with no signal -
it syncs when you are back in range
- Every icon in the app now shares one shape and weight
1.9.2 Aug 26
Small changes to the backend when applying bulk hours of rest offline.
1.9.1 Aug 26
Your abandon ship station card now shows the whole crew posted with you: each person's duty, who leads, the equipment and the procedures. Watch handover and round notes become shared threads with faces, so the next watch knows who saw what and when. Hours of Rest shows its working: open a card for every period counted, with the regulation text. Day comments are a thread with your HoD. Plus clearer text and fixes.
1.9 Aug 5
Checklists you work through together. Open the same round as your crewmates and watch answers land live, each one wearing the face of who gave it. Notes are now a thread, so nobody's words get overwritten, and you can add photos with the in-app camera straight from the question.
Muster alerts now break through Silent and Do Not Disturb. Drills stay ordinary notifications.
Training reads better and answers fairer. Cards play in short beats, a real Back button lets you re-read without re-answering, results are readable at arm's length, and single-answer quizzes let you change your mind before checking.
A nudge from the bridge: If a recap is waiting on you, you can be sent a notification from and admin. It arrives as a card, and if now's not the time it waits in your bell until it's done.
1.8.8 Aug 3
1.8.7 focuses on All Hands:
Post a message to everyone aboard: add photos, tag a department or a crew member, and set a timer or let it clear at midnight.
- Got it receipts show who has seen a post, with reactions and comments on every post
- Require confirmation: crew are reminded until they confirm a post
- A new full-screen photo viewer with sharing, in All Hands and Deliveries
- Live operation cards on your lock screen start when you view a post
- Clearer answers in training: swipe cards show exactly what to do
1.8.7 Jul 16
- Quicker to open right after an app update. No more long pause on the splash screen.
- Leave a rating without leaving the app.
- Smaller fixes and polish throughout.
1.8.6 Jul 11
Documents now browse like a real file app — folders, colours, and search that shows where things live. Completed forms are grouped with your signed history. All Hands operations can be extended and remind you before they end. Plus fixes and polish.
1.8.5 Jul 9
All Hands: notifications now open the announcement itself — what's happening, who's in charge, time remaining. New look for active operations, and clear confirmation when you broadcast.
Stores Beta: your custom fields on item details, and a filter that's always available — by tag, low stock or expiring.
Plus a new Documents tab, more reliable notifications, calmer haptics, a new app icon and Android polish.
1.8.4 Jul 4
Checklists. Running checklists on your phone is clearer — work through long ones section by section, save your progress and pick up later, and see reference photos right on the item you're checking. Folders open in place, and you can filter by department and type.
Stores & Spares. Finding and adding spares is faster — search and scan from a floating button, see exactly where an item is stored, give locations their own photo, and tag items to group them your way.
All Hands. Give the whole crew a heads up about hot work, diving or tender ops in a couple of steps.
We've also refreshed the home screen and fixed a number of small things across the app.
1.8.3 Jul 1
Forms now have reference images if set by the owner. Making your forms even more comprehensive!
1.8.2 Jun 24
Complete and sign crew forms right on your phone. When your yacht assigns you a form, a crew departure checklist, a joining induction. It now turns up in your Documents tab and in the notification bell. Fill it in, sign with your finger or your saved signature, and a signed copy is filed to your record automatically.
1.8.1 Jun 23
Never lose track of what needs you. A new notification bell in the top bar gathers everything waiting on you in one place — rest hours to log, policies to sign, notices to read — and clears itself as you deal with each item.
Heads of Department also see the rest-hour entries that need their review.
Hours of Rest is calmer to use: your entries now sync quietly in the background with no distracting counter, and once the bridge has reviewed a day it's protected from accidental edits.
Weather now warns you about developing conditions — strong wind, rough seas, poor visibility and incoming rain — instead of just showing today's numbers.
The Code of Safe Working Practices reader gains in-chapter search and a Key points summary, so the guidance you need is faster to find.
1.8 Jun 22
Read and sign your vessel's policies and controlled documents right in the app. If you've saved your signature it's reused automatically — no need to draw it again — and once a document is signed you can reopen it any time just to view.
The Documents tab is easier to live with: search across policies and safety documents, signed items tidied into folders, and collapsible sections so what needs your attention is up top.
A weekly safety refresh surfaces a key Code of Safe Working Practices chapter — a short summary with a tap-through to the full guidance.
Smoother operation broadcasts, more reliable delivery photo uploads, and a cleaner Live Activity on your Lock Screen.
1.7 Jun 19
The Worklist.
