Color Grading - Photo Editor
Shadows warm, highlights cool
Only for Mac
$4.99
Mac
Shadows one hue, highlights another, with both halves of the frame visible at once behind a divider you drag. Exports WebP and AVIF, which Photos will not.
Tint the shadows one color and the highlights another, on one photo, and drag a divider across the frame to see exactly what you changed.
Six presets to start from — Default, Vivid, Warm, Cool, Dramatic, Black & White — with Auto Enhance if you want macOS to take a first pass. Then thirteen sliders if you want to go further: Exposure, Gamma, Contrast, Vibrance, Temperature, Hue, Highlights, Shadows, Sharpness, Noise Reduction, Vignette, and the two tints. Every slider has its own reset arrow, and Reset All puts everything back.
THE SPLIT
Shadows take one hue, highlights take another, set independently. That split is why film stocks look like film stocks, and it is the difference between a photo that has been brightened and one that has been graded.
BOTH HALVES AT ONCE
A divider you drag to wherever you want it, BEFORE on one side and AFTER on the other, so you judge the change on the part of the picture you actually care about — not by flipping the whole image back and forth.
EXPORT THE WEB FORMATS
JPEG, PNG, HEIF, TIFF, WebP and AVIF. The lossy three get a quality slider. WebP and AVIF are the two that macOS Photos and Preview will not write at all.
YOUR ORIGINAL IS NEVER TOUCHED
Export renders to a new file and asks you where to put it, suggesting a name ending in -enhanced. The file you opened stays exactly as it was. It also works on files wherever they already live, without importing them into a photo library first.
ABOUT PHOTOS, HONESTLY
Photos is free and already on your Mac, and for most work it is the better tool. This app has no library, no syncing, no undo, no cropping and no retouching — Photos gives you every one of those for nothing. If what you need is a correction rather than a look, use Photos and keep your money. What it will not do is tint your shadows and highlights to different hues, show you both halves at once behind a divider you place, or export WebP or AVIF.
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
One image at a time. There is no batch, no folder mode, no queue. If you have a shoot or a feed's worth of photos to make consistent, this is the wrong tool and it will waste your money — better said before you buy than after.
It does not develop RAW. It will open a RAW file, but it treats it as an already-developed picture; there are no RAW controls. It does not load LUTs or .cube files. You cannot save your own preset. There is no cropping, no layers, no masks, no local adjustments, no undo history, and no histogram.
One-time purchase. No account, no subscription. Works with the network off. Requires macOS 14 or later.
