School term dates for more families: Ireland’s standardised school year, Singapore’s MOE calendar, the UAE’s unified calendar and every Australian state and territory can now be added in a tap - pick the school, answer one question where the calendar needs it, and the dates land on your family calendar. Also in this update: The School page shows the term you’re in, and the next break, wherever your school year starts. Invites: a tapped invite link joins the household straight away, and whoever you invite gets a reminder if they haven’t joined. The free plan shows how many AI uses are left, and where Housemait+ picks up. Fixes for an empty photo stalling Quick Add, and onboarding step numbers.

Health, a calmer Home, and lists you can keep to yourself. • Health: keep each person's allergies, medications, vaccinations and who to call in one place, and share them with a babysitter or grandparent as a message. • Your day: a short line at the top of Home on what's left today. • Lists now come in three kinds: Shopping, To-do or a simple checklist. Shopping lists and checklists can be private to you. • Fill my week plans the week's dinners from your Recipe Box. • Rewards has a new look, and grown-ups can earn and spend stars too. • Birthday reminders a week and a day before. • Documents can carry an expiry date, with a reminder before a passport or policy runs out. • Press and hold on Tasks, Lists and the Calendar for quick actions. • Choose whether your week starts on Sunday or Monday. • A tidier My Family page and More menu, smoother popups, and lots of small fixes.

A heads-up the night before As well as your morning brief, Housemait can now send you a look at tomorrow around 8pm, so the day doesn't start with a surprise. Opt in whenever you like - just reply to the bot. School has its own home Term dates, holidays and inset days now live in their own section, and Housemait can pull a whole year's dates straight from your school's website, a PDF or a photo of the letter. Party invites that don't need an app Share a link for any event and guests can RSVP without downloading anything or making an account. You'll see who's coming as replies land. Finish setting up, without the nagging A quiet prompt on your home screen for the bits you skipped — invite the family, connect WhatsApp, add your calendars, turn on reminders. Tap the × on anything you don't want and it stays gone. Fixes and polish One-off chores now appear on the right day and stay put until they're done. Pets are no longer given chores or star charts. The app stays in portrait. Plus a long list of smaller fixes across tasks, calendars and reminders.

New in 1.9.0 • Kids' Notes — in Kids Mode your children can draw or write you one note a day. You'll get a notification, can react with an emoji they'll see back, browse every note in the new Kids' Notes gallery, and even print one for the fridge. • Deleting one day of a repeating event now asks whether you mean just that day or the whole series — no more accidental "delete every week". • The app now grows with your family: kid features appear once you add a child. • A tidier menu, plus polish across Kids Mode and Settings.

A big update, with some of the most-requested features yet. Here is what is new since you last updated: Tasks, reimagined. Set chores and routines, have them repeat daily or weekly, and share them across the family. Children earn stars for the things they finish. Rewards. Turn those stars into real-life rewards you choose, like a film night or a later bedtime. Redeem in a tap and keep track of what has been claimed. Lists for everything. To-dos, the weekly shop and any custom list now live together in one place, shared with the whole household in real time. Family avatars. Give everyone a photo or a friendly illustrated character. Each person gets their own colour, so you can tell at a glance who an event, task or list item belongs to. Child Mode. A simple, kid-safe view of the app, locked behind a household PIN. Scan your receipts. Snap a grocery receipt to tick items off your shopping list and keep an eye on what you are spending. A calmer home screen. Local weather, what is coming up next and the after-school run, all in one glance. Your AI family assistant. Ask it to add an event, jot a list or answer a quick question, in the app or over WhatsApp. Bring your calendars with you. Connect the calendars you already use and see those events beside your family calendar. Housemait only ever reads them, it never changes anything. Plus a smoother sign-up, UK school term dates, and a long list of design polish and fixes throughout. We would love to hear what you think.

Weather that follows you, a morning brief that pings you, and events that finally repeat. • Local weather on your dashboard — now uses your location (with permission), with your home address as backup. • Morning brief as a notification — a warm, fresh-each-day summary, not just on WhatsApp. • Repeating events that repeat — weekly, monthly or yearly, on every date. • Attach files to events — booking confirmations, school letters, tickets. • After-school activities, term by term — start and end times, tied to school terms so they roll over automatically. • Cleaner Tasks — opens to everything, with All / Overdue / Today / Upcoming chips. • A sharper assistant that reads a photo's instruction into your calendar and points you to the right screen when needed. Plus more reliable notifications and polish throughout.

A calmer, more glanceable home screen. Weather, right on your dashboard. Tap to expand a 24-hour forecast, with a smart one-liner that ties the day's weather to what's actually on ("Dry through Mason's tennis at 15:30"). "Up Next" card. Your soonest event with a live countdown, who it's for, and a little progress bar as it approaches. "After School" card. See each child's clubs by weekday at a glance — the activity, who's going, and who's on pickup. Tap a day to switch. WhatsApp got a lot more capable. - Send the bot a school PDF or Word doc and it reads the dates straight into your calendar. - Paste a fixture list or schedule and it pulls out the events for you. - Send a calendar link (Google, Apple or Outlook) and it connects that calendar automatically. - Faster setup: connect WhatsApp with a one-time code instead of the old copy-and-send dance. Smarter activities. Weekly activities are now editable after you add them, and you can set who's responsible for pickup on each one. More reliable mornings. The 7am WhatsApp brief now lands consistently, in a cleaner format. Plus typography, spacing and layout polish across the dashboard, Family and Settings.

Onboarding overhaul. Calendar setup now part of the welcome flow - both directions (Housemait → your phone, your other calendars → Housemait) get their own steps instead of being buried in Settings. New "Join an existing household" option on the setup screen for family members who didn't click an emailed invite link, so they don't accidentally start a duplicate household. Settings redesigned. On iOS, sections open as native-style popup sheets when tapped. On the web, sections sit as standalone cards instead of a stack of accordions. Renamed a few sections so it's clearer what they actually do. Sharper notifications. The WhatsApp ping when someone adds, updates, or completes a task or event now tells you who it's for and what changed — not just that something happened. Event notifications now also include the date and time. Smarter AI bot. Better at understanding messages like "tell James to bring milk" (creates a task for James, not a weather check on the word "cold"). Recipe edits now actually edit the recipe instead of claiming to. Bot ends add/create replies with a useful follow-up question more consistently. Calendar polish. Subscribed third-party calendars now have their own colours so they read distinct from your household's events. Family page now shows your household join code so you can share it with new family members signing up - even if they didn't get an emailed invite. More reliable behind the scenes. Morning brief keeps the weather line when the underlying weather service has a wobble. Weekly roundup no longer double-sends during deploys. Plus typography and layout polish across every page.

A bigger update with some real family-life upgrades: • Assign tasks or events to multiple family members at once - one tap completes them for everyone. • Import school term dates, half terms, and INSET days automatically from your school's website or PDF. • Smarter WhatsApp morning digests - weather, today's dinner, and what's due today or tomorrow, all in one message. • Custom reminder times (10, 20, 45 mins...) now work properly across the calendar and tasks. • Send PDF attachments in chat - school newsletters, party invites - and the AI pulls out the events. • Plus: better recurring tasks, multi-school families, and dozens of small fixes.

Connecting WhatsApp is now one tap — we'll open WhatsApp with the message ready, you just press send. Settings has been streamlined into a single tidy list, with new options to fine-tune which WhatsApp messages you receive. Plus a refreshed sign-in screen, better handling of phone numbers worldwide, and lots of small polish.

• Offline mode — your calendar, tasks, shopping list and meal plan are now available even when you have no signal. The app shows your last saved data instantly and refreshes when you're back online. • Today's meals on Home — your dashboard now shows breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for today. Tap any empty slot to add a meal in one step. • South Africa school dates — schools and term dates for South African households, alongside the existing UK support. • Simpler email forwarding — receipts and bills can now be sent to a memorable address you choose, with an allowlist so only family senders get through. • Calendar polish — the day and week views no longer hide behind the bottom tab bar on devices with a home indicator. • Plus dozens of small layout and typography refinements across the app. Thanks for using Housemait.
