Watchtower: TV & Movie Tracker
Track every show and movie
Free
Watchtower keeps your whole TV and movie world organized — and shared with the people you watch it with.
Whether you're juggling a dozen shows, working through a top-50 list, or deciding what's next, Watchtower keeps track of what you're watching, what's coming, and what your friends think of it.
MAKE YOUR OWN LISTS
Group titles your way — a top 50 to work through, classics you mean to get to, a genre you love. Numbered lists show your place and what's next, and fill in as you watch. Add to a list from any show, or while you search.
BRING YOUR LIBRARY — AND YOUR LISTS
Coming from TV Time, Trakt, or IMDb? Import your library, ratings, and lists, and pick up right where you left off. Found a "best of" article or a Letterboxd list? Paste the link, check the matches, and save it as a list.
YOUR LIBRARY, YOUR WAY
Add any TV show or movie and track exactly where you stand: Watching, On Hold, Wish List, Watched, or Abandoned — change it anytime with a tap. Record when you finished something, keep private notes, and hide any title from friends.
TRACK YOUR PROGRESS
Log your season and episode for every show. See your Up Next episode with its title, synopsis, and air date, and step forward as you go.
NEVER MISS AN EPISODE
See what's airing tonight on your home screen and what's coming in the next 30 days. Get a reminder the morning a show airs, or when a favorite returns after a long break.
PLAN YOUR WEEK
The built-in calendar shows your upcoming episodes by date, with a weekly schedule so you always know what's on.
FRIENDS & ACTIVITY
Add friends and see what they're watching, rating, and finishing. React, comment, and add anything they're watching to your own library in a tap.
PICKS MADE FOR YOU
Discover suggests shows and movies based on your library — with the reason behind every pick.
EXPLORE THE CAST
Tap any actor to see their bio and everything they've been in. Films in a franchise link to the rest of the series.
WHERE TO WATCH
See streaming services and networks for every title, so you always know where to tune in.
YOURS TO KEEP
Sign in with Apple, Google, or email. Your library syncs across your devices, and you can export it anytime.
Track. Schedule. Watch.

See what your friends are into.
Open any show and, if friends have it, a count appears next to the rating — tap it to see who's watching, who finished, and who gave up.
On the Friends tab you can now add a show straight from a card, without opening it first.
Friend requests send a notification now, so you know when somebody asks and when they accept.
Also: tap an actor's photo to see it full size.

Watched out of order?
Open any show and find Seasons, under My Progress. Tick a whole season, or open one and tick single episodes — so marking series five without series one finally says exactly that. Up Next offers you the earliest episode you haven't seen.
Also fixed: the episode counter now counts what has actually aired, so a season still going out reads "E3 / 3" rather than "E3 / 4" with a button that wouldn't move.
2.9.0 Oct 11
Watchtower now has home screen widgets. "Up Next" shows the shows you've started and the episode you're up to, with a checkmark on each row of the large widget to mark it watched without opening the app. "Tonight" lists what's airing today and where to watch it.
Up Next now counts across a whole series rather than one season — "11 of 49" rather than "11 of 11" — so you can see how much is still ahead of you. Prefer the old way? Tap the setting icon in any header, then Up Next.
2.8.8 Sep 29
Fixes for Up Next
• "See all" now updates when you come back to it after changing a show's progress.
• Dates are right in the evening: shows no longer count as aired a day early after 8pm, and the calendar shows the correct day wherever you are.
2.7.2 Sep 17
Fixes for Up Next
• Episodes now appear only once they've actually aired, rather than on the morning of broadcast.
• The progress bar now shows how much of a season has aired, so a three-episode season with one episode out reads "1 of 3 out so far".
2.7.1 Sep 16
Up Next
• Shows you've started now sit right at the top of your Library — the exact episode you're up to, with its artwork, and how far through the season you are.
• Tap the checkmark to mark an episode watched without opening anything.
• Whatever you watched last stays at the top, so picking up where you left off is the first thing you see.
• Watching more than a handful? Tap "See all" for every show you're part way through.
Air dates that match your service
• Watching a series that reaches your service later than the original broadcaster — a BBC show arriving on BritBox, say? Open it and tap "Air dates wrong for your service?" to enter the real schedule.
• Pick the first episode's date, choose weekly, and the season fills in. Adjust any single episode from there.
• Your reminders, Coming Soon and Up Next all follow your dates.
Lists
• Open any list and tap "To watch" to see only the titles you haven't seen yet — useful for working through a top 50.
• Numbering stays put, so #37 is still #37.
Fixes
• A show whose next season has been announced but not scheduled no longer appears as something to watch.
• The day-of-week badge in your Library now only appears while a show is actually airing, instead of on series that finished years ago.
2.7 Sep 15
Make your own lists
• Group titles your way — a top 50 to work through, classics you mean to get to, a genre you love. Tap the list icon at the top right of your Library.
• Numbered lists show your place and what's next, and fill in as you mark titles watched.
• Add to a list from a show's page, by long-pressing in your Library, or while adding from search — your pick stays chosen as you keep adding.
Bring lists with you
• Import from a website: paste a link to a "best of" article or a Letterboxd list, check the matches, and save it as a list.
• Trakt and IMDb imports now bring your lists across too, in order.
Also new
• Actor pages show a birthday, birthplace and short biography.
• A clear button in the search field.
• A brand-new show you've just heard about now comes first when an older one shares its name.
Fixes
• Shows you add from a friend's activity now appear in your own activity for friends to see.
• Activity you had already read no longer shows up as new again.
• Removing a title from your library now takes it off your lists too.
2.6 Sep 14
Recommendations worth reading
• Discover mixes television and film again, instead of filling up with films.
• A toggle to see only shows, or only films.
• Reasons that mean something. A recommendation only names titles it is
genuinely connected to — by a shared actor, director or subject. When all
it has in common is a genre, it says that instead of overstating it.
• Mood tags no longer drown out subject matter. A cartoon tagged "cheerful"
and "bold" could be recommended off an adult thriller on the strength of
those words alone. Not any more.
Fixes
• "Airs today" reminders arrive more reliably.
• A season finale is no longer called a series finale.
• "Up Next" puts films in release order rather than alphabetical, so a 2006
title no longer sits between two new ones.
2.5.2 Sep 10
Bring your library with you
• Import from IMDb, Trakt, or TV Time. Just pick the file you
exported — Watchtower works out which service it came from.
• Your ratings come across, and from Trakt so does how far
you've watched each series.
Explore the cast
• Search for an actor or director by name, or tap any face on a
show, to see everything they've been in.
• Add anything you find without leaving the page.
Films in a series
• A film that's part of a franchise now links to the rest, with
the ones already in your library marked.
Watch dates
• Record when you actually finished something, not just when you
tapped the button. Jump straight to any year to fill in shows
you finished long ago.
Also in this release
• Report a user or a comment.
• See which shows you've marked private at a glance.
• Filters start out of the way, with a count when any are active.
• Shows made outside English now say what language they're in.
• A cleaner show page: privacy moved to the header, rating and
finish date together, trailer where you'd expect it.
Fixes
• The Friends menu could freeze the screen. Fixed.
• A show between seasons no longer claims it still airs weekly.
• Switching to Movies with a season filter set no longer empties
your library.
• "Airs today" reminders now name the network, so a UK show
doesn't look like it's on your streaming service tonight.

Discover, rebuilt
Recommendations now actually reflect what you watch, not just a shared genre.
Anything already in your library is filtered out, and you can swipe away a
suggestion you are not interested in — it will not come back.
Add from anywhere
Long-press any show, anywhere in the app, to add it or change its status
without opening it. That works on Discover, on a friend's feed, and in a
friend's library. Tap a friend's show to open it, and add it from there.
Explore the cast
Tap an actor on any show to see everything they have been in, then open or add
any of it from the same screen.
A library that leads with what is next
Your library now opens with what you can actually watch — a new episode
waiting, then shows you are partway through — and sinks the ones you have
finished. Choose a different order any time, and your filters and sort are
remembered between visits.
Tracking that matches reality
When you mark a series as Watching, you are asked where you are up to instead
of being assumed to have seen the finale. Progress will not run past the
episodes that have aired.
Friends, close at hand
Your friends list is now a tap away from anywhere on the Friends tab, sorted by
name and searchable. You can report a user or a comment, alongside the existing
options to block or unfriend.
Also in this release
• Export now includes your ratings, progress, notes and watch dates
• Import from TV Time restored
• Each streaming service appears once, under one name
• Track which service you are watching a show on, shown in your library and calendar
• Up Next follows your own progress, rolling into the next season when you finish one
• Coming back from a show opens the screen you came from
2.4 Sep 2
Faster adding
Tap + on any search result to add a show without opening it — pick a status
and you are done, right from the results. Adding a batch? Press and hold any
result to select several and add them all at once.
Know before you add
Every search result now shows where a series stands: currently airing,
between seasons, a new season coming, or ended.
Up Next, in step with you
Up Next now follows the season and episode you have actually reached, rolling
into the next season premiere when you finish one. Progress tracking stops at
the episodes that exist, so you cannot run past the end of a season.
Where you watch
Streaming services show up once each, under one name. When a show is in more
than one place, tap the service you use to track it — your library and
calendar will show that one.

See and control what's happening on your shows.
BADGE ON THE FRIENDS TAB
When a friend reacts to or comments on your activity, the Friends tab shows a count — so you'll notice from your Library, the Calendar, anywhere. Opening Activity clears it.
YOUR ACTIVITY
A single place collecting every reaction and comment friends have left on your shows, newest first.
REMOVE COMMENTS ON YOUR OWN ACTIVITY
You can now delete any comment left on something you posted, not just your own replies.
NOTIFICATION CONTROL
Profile has a new "Friend activity" switch. Turn off social notifications without losing the episode reminders you installed the app for.
FIXES
Friends' profile photos now load correctly instead of falling back to "?".
