AeroSnap turns your iPhone camera into an aircraft identification tool. See a plane overhead, snap a photo, and instantly learn what it is, who built it, and what makes it special.
WHAT IT DOES
Point your camera at any aircraft — commercial airliners, military jets, vintage warbirds, helicopters, business jets, or general aviation. AeroSnap uses advanced AI to identify the aircraft and surface key details: manufacturer, role, first flight year, wingspan, engines, and a fun fact about that specific model.
For real-world verification, type the aircraft's tail number to cross-check against the FAA registry — see who owns it and confirm the AI's identification.

Downloaded this after getting curious about a plane flying over my neighborhood, figuring it probably wouldn't be very accurate. I was wrong! It identified it correctly in seconds, and I've since used it a handful of times at the airport with the same result. What I appreciate most is that it doesn't try to push a subscription on you right out of the gate. You get 5 free scans a day, which is plenty unless you're really into it, and if you want more there's a reasonable one-time option instead of a recurring charge.Simple, does exactly what it says, and it's made me notice planes a lot more than I used to. Recommend it even if you're only mildly curious about aviation.
App does exactly what it says

Was skeptical an app could actually identify planes accurately from a random phone photo, but AeroSnap nails it more often than not. Scanned a dozen aircraft at the airport last week and it got every single one right, including a couple I genuinely couldn’t tell apart myself.Appreciate that it’s not trying to trap you into a subscription — 5 free scans a day covers casual use easily, and the option to buy credits if you want more is fair. The badge system is a nice touch too, makes you want to keep spotting.Would recommend to anyone who’s ever been curious about a plane flying overhead.
My go-to for aircraft spotting
Rolex8012
I fly a lot for work and started using AeroSnap during layovers just to kill time — now it’s genuinely one of my favorite apps on my phone. Point it at a plane, get an answer in seconds, and it’s accurate even on aircraft that look nearly identical from certain angles.Five free scans a day is more than enough for casual use, and I like that there’s no subscription hanging over it. The collection feature turns every flight into a little scavenger hunt. Solid app, does exactly what it promises.
Great app for plane spotters

AeroSnap identifies aircraft instantly from a photo — fast and surprisingly accurate, even on regional jets that look similar. You get 5 free scans every day, and I love that I can look up the actual tail number for US and Canadian aircraft to confirm the ID.The collection and badge system is what keeps me coming back — it’s genuinely fun watching your hangar fill up as you spot more planes. Clean interface, no clutter. Highly recommend for anyone into aviation.
