KeptWell: Medical Binder
Health records for caregivers
Only for iPhone
Free · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
KeptWell is a private medical hub for families navigating serious illness or caring for an aging parent. Upload the documents and recordings you're collecting. KeptWell reads them, organizes them into plain English, and keeps the people who care in sync.
When someone you love is going through a serious illness, you end up with a binder. Or a folder. Or a string of texts and screenshots. Lab results you don't fully understand. Visit notes you forgot to take. Three medications that keep getting changed. KeptWell takes that pile and turns it into something you can actually use.
What KeptWell does
- Upload anything. PDFs, photos of paperwork, scans, audio recordings of appointments. KeptWell reads them.
- Plain-English summaries. Every document gets a title, a one-paragraph summary, and the findings that actually matter — written like a nurse explaining things, not like a hospital portal.
- Health hub. Labs, medications, allergies, diagnoses, procedures, and vitals are pulled out of your documents automatically. Every entry links back to its source so you can see exactly where a number came from.
- Chat with full context. Ask "What changed with Mom's blood pressure meds last month?" or "Were there any concerning labs in the August panel?" KeptWell answers in clear language with citations back to your records and trusted medical references.
- Voice recordings. Capture a visit. Get a searchable transcript and a summary you can scan in thirty seconds.
- Care circles. Each patient sits at the center of a circle. Family members join, see what's happening, and stay aligned. Switch between circles if you're helping more than one person.
- Journal and calendar. Quick notes between visits. Appointment prep with the questions you wanted to ask.
- Sharing. Post updates to your circle, react and comment, keep the family informed without a forty-message group text.
Privacy
Your medical information stays inside your circle. We never sell data. We never train AI on your records. KeptWell uses HIPAA-grade infrastructure — encrypted in transit and at rest, with signed business associate agreements covering the AI providers we use.
Who it's for
- Adult children helping aging parents stay on top of their care
- Families navigating a cancer diagnosis, dementia, or chronic illness
- Anyone tired of digging through five different patient portals to find one lab value

more - KeptWell now opens with no signal and shows what you last saw on this phone, like a visit's notes and questions. A bar at the top tells you when you're looking at a saved copy, and when it was saved.
- In a visit with no signal, you can still add notes and check off or edit questions. They're kept on your phone and sent once you're back online. Notes show up at the time you wrote them.
1.26.0 2d ago
- Appointments, visit preps, and visits are now one flow. Add your questions on the appointment, then tap Start visit when you get there.
- Visits has List and Calendar views in one place. The list shows Today, Coming up, and Past.
- When a note in a visit answers one of your questions, the question is checked off and links to that note.
- Your existing visit preps moved into their visits, questions included.
1.25.0 2d ago
- From a calendar event, add a scan, photo, file, pasted text, or recording, and it's added to that event. A recording still gets added even if the app closes before the upload finishes.
- After you add a calendar event, it opens right away so you can add its paperwork.
- When you start a visit prep, you can turn off "Suggest questions from records" and write your own questions instead.
- Fixed visit preps in Calendar not opening when you tapped them on iPhone.
- Fixed a circle invite link showing "invalid or expired" when you'd already joined. It now opens the circle.
1.24.0 3d ago
- Paste a YouTube link in chat and KeptWell reads what's said in the video, so you can ask about it. If a video has no captions, it tells you.
- Visits you track now show on the calendar, in their own Visits section for the day. Tap one to open it.
- In circle settings, the patient section is now called "Patient's KeptWell account" and explains you can leave it unset if the patient doesn't use KeptWell.
1.23.0 5d ago
- A new welcome screen explains what KeptWell does before it asks for your email. Choose "Get started" for a new account or "I already have an account" to sign in with the email you used before.
- Fixed a problem where tapping the sign-in link in your email could show "This sign-in link is invalid or expired" when the link was fine.
- When you set up your first circle, the screen shows which email you're signed in with, so you can tell if you used a different address than usual.
- Send feedback from Settings. Your note goes straight to the KeptWell team.
- Fixed dates that could show a day off in some time zones, like a date of birth or a document filter. The journal calendar now starts the week on the day your phone uses.
- Tapping a notification about a shared post now opens the post. Switching to another visit prep saves your edits first, and tells you if a save fails.
1.22.0 Sep 30
- Home has a new "Needs your attention" section. When a new document shows something worth knowing, like a lab that moved out of range or a new diagnosis, it appears here with a short explanation. Urgent ones also send a notification.
- Filter your documents by body system, specialty, or stage of care.
- In a document, anything we pulled out that the document itself doesn't support is marked "Not in the document", with a Fix button to correct it.
- The first Apple Health import is much faster, and it shows its progress while it runs.
- Recordings of a doctor's visit now list the next steps from the conversation, and you can check them off as you go.
- Link a document to a calendar event, from either the event or the document.
- The journal calendar shows how symptoms changed over the month and flags possible medication side effects.
- In a visit, updates that answer a "To ask" question check it off for you.
- A shared post that asks the circle something shows "Awaiting a reply" until someone answers.
- Lab and vital trend arrows are bolder when the latest change is worth a look.
- Add documents to a visit, either by uploading a new one or choosing one you already have. You can also edit a visit's title, provider, and location.
- If you sign up with an email link or Apple, you can now set a password in Settings. Then you can also sign in on keptwell.org with your email and password.
- On iPad, Visits now have their own place in the sidebar, and tapping a "visit started" notification opens the visit.
- You can add an update to a visit after it ends, without restarting it.
- On iPad, picking a different calendar event or health item now always shows the one you picked.
- A document filter no longer resets when you open a document and come back.
1.21.0 Sep 25
- Apple Health now brings in the readings you take at home. Blood pressure, weight, blood glucose, oxygen level, temperature, and resting heart rate from your iPhone or Apple Watch show up next to the readings from your records, and you can ask about them in chat.
- Home readings keep syncing in the background, usually within the hour, even when the app is closed. Delete a reading in the Health app and it disappears from KeptWell too.
- Apple Health now connects in every country. Where Apple doesn't offer clinical health records (outside the US, UK, and Canada), it syncs your home readings only.
- The Apple Health option now shows for every circle. If you made a circle about yourself but haven't said so, the app asks "Is this circle about you?" and connects from there. Only the patient can connect Apple Health, from their own phone.
- Circle settings has a new "Who this circle is about" section for setting or changing the patient.
- Sign-in links work again no matter where they came from — another device, the website, or an email sent before you updated the app.
1.20.0 Sep 11
- The "Connect a health record" option on the Health tab now shows for everyone. Import records from a hospital portal or from Apple Health.
- Magic-link sign-in is more secure. The app now only accepts a sign-in link it asked for itself.
- Links inside chat replies and shared conversations now only open ordinary web pages.
- If an invitation was sent to a different email address, the app now says so even when it can't show the address.
1.19.0 Sep 8
- You can now pick up to 10 photos at once from your library. Each photo becomes its own record.
- Every image or PDF now has a "View original" button, even while KeptWell is still reading it. Images open in a zoomable viewer.
- Password-protected PDFs upload more reliably. The password prompt shows up after the upload sheet closes, and if KeptWell can't unlock the file on its end, your file stays put so you can try again. Only wrong passwords count toward the attempt limit.
- The "Connect a health record" option now shows up right after you sign in with a magic link. Before, it could stay hidden until you fully closed and reopened the app.
- In chat, when you correct something KeptWell noted and then correct it again, the older note now reads "Replaced by a later note" instead of looking current.
1.18.1 Sep 6
- Password-protected PDFs now upload. KeptWell asks for the password, unlocks the file, and keeps only the unlocked copy. The password is never saved.
- The Photo option in the add sheet now opens your photo library. Scan is still the way to use the camera.
1.17.0 Sep 3
- If KeptWell got something wrong in a document or a recording, you can now tell it. Open the document, tap "Suggest a correction," and say what's wrong in plain words. KeptWell rewrites the summary and the details it pulled out, and everyone in your circle sees the corrected version. Your original file and transcript stay untouched.
- The health page is easier to scan. Each section has its own color, and the parts you haven't filled in yet stay quiet instead of showing zeros.
1.16.0 Sep 1
- You can now send a photo in chat — take one with your camera or pick one from your library. KeptWell looks at it while it answers, and keeps it with the conversation. Photos you send are yours alone: no one else in your circle can see them, and they stay out of the documents list. If you share a conversation, the photos come along.
- KeptWell now knows what time it is when you ask, so "this morning" or "last night" lands where you mean it.
- Chat no longer pulls you to the bottom while an answer is still coming in. You can scroll back and read while it writes.
- Cards asking you to confirm something KeptWell noted no longer reappear after you've answered them. What you dismissed stays dismissed, and what you removed shows as removed.
- You can turn off getting-started and check-in emails under notification settings.
1.15.0 Aug 26
- Mark a medication as no longer taken, right from its page. It moves out of the current list and stays in the history.
- Notifications now clear when you open what they point to, so the badge matches what you've actually read.
- Profile photos load again for everyone in your circle.
- When KeptWell looks something up online, it now says "Checking trusted medical sources" so you can tell it apart from reading your own records.
- Fixed the document page sliding sideways when you scrolled it.
1.13.0 Aug 23
- A circle can now be for you. When you set one up, choose "Myself" instead of "Someone I care for" — KeptWell then speaks to you directly throughout: "Your health" on Home, "Add to your record", and lab explanations written for you rather than about you.
- Add a date of birth and sex assigned at birth when you create a circle, and KeptWell will tell you when routine screenings come due — flu shots, bloodwork, mammograms, colonoscopies.
- Journal prompts now match who the circle is for — "How are you feeling today?" in your own circle, "How is Mom feeling today?" when you're caring for someone.
- Fixed the "This is the patient" option disappearing from an invite before anyone had actually claimed the patient seat.
1.12.0 Aug 20
- You can now start another care circle from inside the app — tap the patient's name on Home to switch between circles or add a new one, or use the + on your circles list.
1.11.0 Jul 29
- Tell KeptWell something once and it sticks — correct a name we misheard, say who's treating you now, or mention how your appointments usually work. It carries into later conversations and into how new documents get read.
- Anything about a medication or a diagnosis waits for you to confirm it before it takes effect, and you choose whether the rest of your circle sees it.
- "What I've noted" on the chat screen shows everything KeptWell has taken down, who said it, and when — edit or remove any of it.
1.10.0 Jul 26
- Recording now keeps going when your phone locks, so you won't lose an appointment recording because the screen went to sleep.
- Long recordings upload reliably now — the size limit is up to 1 GB — and the app reminds you if a recording is still running so you don't forget to stop it.
1.9.0 Jul 23
- Ask KeptWell about clinical trials right in chat — it can now look up trials and search trusted medical sources to answer your questions.
- Copy an entry from the live-visit log — press and hold a log entry, then tap Copy.
- The keyboard now dismisses with a swipe or tap in the live-visit log and the "questions to ask" composer.
- Fixed the Add sheet clipping the "Paste or type text" row.
- You'll now get a notification when anyone in your circle finishes uploading a document, not just your own uploads.
- The AI is more careful with your records — it no longer fills in specifics that weren't in your documents (like turning a general "stone" into a "kidney stone").
1.8.0 Jul 13
- You can now add a visit log entry for an earlier day, not just the current moment — handy for catching up after the fact.
- Your live visit and Home dashboard refresh on their own now, so you see the latest without closing and reopening the app.
- Fixed date and time stamps wrapping awkwardly in the visit log, and removed a couple of buttons that weren't doing anything yet.
1.7.1 Jun 30
- Track a hospital stay, ER visit, or appointment as it happens — keep a running log of what's going on and a list of questions to ask, from arrival through discharge.
- Clearer recording screen: Start is now a full-size button, and a live row of bars shows it's picking up your voice as you talk.
1.7.0 Jun 29
- Creating a calendar event from a specific day now fills in that date for you automatically.
- Fixed a freeze in chat, and you can now swipe down or tap to dismiss the keyboard while chatting.
- Chat can now reference your other conversations, so follow-up questions stay connected across chats.
- Transcripts from recordings are more accurate — fewer medications get flagged when they weren't actually discussed.
1.6.0 Jun 27
- Upload a big batch at once and KeptWell now paces how many process at a time, so nothing bogs down. The rest wait in a "Paused" state — tap to resume whenever you're ready, and nothing is ever lost.
- Choose how often KeptWell emails you about your circle's activity — as it happens, a weekly summary, or a monthly summary — right in Settings.
- When several uploads finish around the same time, you'll get one combined notification instead of a ping per document. Tap it to go straight to your documents.
1.5.0 Jun 25
- The "+" button now opens a single capture sheet to add a document, recording, or quick note straight to the record. Starting a chat, sharing an update, or writing a journal entry now lives right inside its own tab.
- Open a calendar event and tap "Prepare for this visit" to have KeptWell draft questions worth asking, based on recent labs and meds — then find the prep sheet attached to that visit.
- Fixed being unexpectedly signed out — sometimes several times a day. Your session now survives the app refreshing in the background or relaunching while your phone is locked.
- Push notifications and "Share to KeptWell" now reliably recognize your sign-in on your device, so notifications can show real details and sharing no longer asks you to sign in again.
- Added a "Lock with Face ID" setting under Settings → Privacy, so you can turn the app lock off if you don't want it on every launch.
- The Home Screen "Start Recording" quick action now confirms which circle to record into when you're in more than one, so a visit never lands in the wrong record.
- Cleaned up transcripts that occasionally showed stray audio-format tags.
1.4.0 Jun 16
- Fixed a phantom recording row that could linger in the list after an upload finished.
1.3.1 Jun 14
- Share documents straight into KeptWell from any app. Tap the share button in Mail, Files, Photos, or anywhere else, choose KeptWell, pick a circle, and your PDF or photo uploads and starts processing — no need to open the app first.
- Start a recording straight from the Home Screen. Long-press the KeptWell icon and tap "Start Recording" to jump right into capturing a visit.
- Fixed a duplicate row that could briefly appear after an audio recording finished uploading.
1.3.0 Jun 14
- KeptWell now opens with no signal and shows what you last saw on this phone, like a visit's notes and questions. A bar at the top tells you when you're looking at a saved copy, and when it was saved.
- In a visit with no signal, you can still add notes and check off or edit questions. They're kept on your phone and sent once you're back online. Notes show up at the time you wrote them.
