Make it yours: eight color schemes, or build your own. And debates now end with your closing argument, unanswered — the last word is finally yours. The Why is a Christian apologetics and theology training app built for people who want to defend their faith in real conversations — not just know what they believe, but be able to say it under pressure. DEBATE Pick a topic. Pick an opponent. Defend your faith. The AI argues its position — seriously, with the actual arguments people use — while you respond turn by turn. After every debate, you get a full debrief: what you handled well, the arguments you missed, any fallacies used against you, the hardest pressure points, and recommended resources to go deeper. Topics span the full range of conversations Christians actually face: Apologetics — The Cosmological Argument, The Resurrection, The Problem of Evil, The Existence of God, Reliability of Scripture, Exclusive Claims of Christ, The Design Argument, The Moral Argument Theology — Divine Sovereignty and Free Will, The Atonement, Baptism, The Lord's Supper, End Times, Hell and Final Judgment, Women in Ministry, Church and State, Sexual Ethics, Creation and Evolution Catholic-Protestant — Sola Scriptura, Mary's Sinlessness, The Biblical Canon VOICES 30 distinct opponents — each with its own theology, arguments, and pressure style: Hostile Atheist, Analytic Atheist, Respectful Agnostic, Secular Humanist, Deconstructed Christian, Muslim Scholar, Muslim Philosopher, Orthodox Rabbi, Hindu Philosopher, Buddhist Practitioner, Jehovah's Witness, Latter-day Saint, Black Hebrew Israelite, Progressive Christian, Catholic Apologist, Eastern Orthodox Theologian, Reformed Calvinist, Confessional Lutheran, Baptist, Classical Arminian, Provisionist, Amillennialist, Postmillennialist, Historic Premillennialist, Dispensationalist, Egalitarian, Complementarian, Christian Nationalist, Secular Progressive TRAINING Structured, multiple-choice practice on every topic. AI feedback after every turn. Lower pressure than a live debate — better for building a foundation first. DRILLS Five quick drill types for daily practice: • Fallacy Spotter — identify the bad argument • Tactics Dojo — choose the sharpest response to a real objection • Worldview Detection — identify which worldview a statement comes from • 30-Second Answer — give the best brief answer under pressure • Retention Recall — review key arguments from your past debates GOSPEL MODE Practice sharing the gospel one-on-one. Choose a character — skeptic, nominal Christian, university student — and work through a conversation while the AI responds in character. Three frameworks: Romans Road, Two Ways to Live, Three Circles. ANALYZE AN ARGUMENT Paste any argument from a book, article, or conversation and get a full breakdown: claim identified, logical structure mapped, fallacies flagged, strongest counterarguments, and a recommended response strategy. CHALLENGES Send a debate challenge to a friend by email. They get your opening argument and respond in their own time. GROUPS Leaders can create study groups, set debate assignments, and track member engagement. GLOSSARY A searchable reference of theological and philosophical terms, filterable by Theology, Philosophy, Apologetics, History, and Logic. --- The Why is built on the conviction that you don't need to win arguments — you need to be prepared to have them. Free to start. Pro unlocks all drill types, Training, Analyze, Challenges, and PDF debrief exports. Terms of Use (EULA): https://contend-production.up.railway.app/terms

The app can look how you want now. > > Eight color schemes, dark and light: the original Ember, plus Nord, Gruvbox, Everforest, Mocha, Parchment, Latte, and Dawn. Pick one in Settings and the whole app follows. Pro members can go further and set their own accent color, the color behind their own words in a debate, and the color of their opponent's, with a live preview while they choose. Every combination is contrast-checked before it's allowed, so a theme can look how you like without becoming hard to read. > > You get the last word. > > Real conversations are won or lost in how you close them, so a debate no longer ends with the other side talking. When your turns run out you're given one final turn — your closing argument — and the AI does not answer it. Say the thing you want them to walk away with. > > Every debrief now ends with what to do next. > > Not just what you missed, but the specific terms, doctrines, and distinctions to go learn first, with one line on why each one matters, tied to something you actually said. Your placement result does the same. > > We also changed how those results are written. They lead with what you already knew. They credit an honest "I don't know" as the right instinct rather than a miss, because a confident wrong answer is worse than an admitted gap and knowing the difference is most of what this training is for. And a gap is named as the next thing to learn, not as something wrong with you. Honest, not harsh. > > Choose the name your class sees. > > Set a display name in Settings, and that is what appears on the class roster, in the feed, in messages, and on anything you share. Your email address is never shown to anyone. > > Polls in the class feed. > > Ask your class a question with a few answers to choose from. Results appear the moment you vote, and a leader can close a poll once it has run its course. > > Anything your leader assigns is unlocked. > > If you are in a class, the work your leader sets is yours to do — no subscription prompt in the middle of an assignment. Being in the class is the access. > > Asking a question is now the first thing on the Foundation tab. It used to be three taps down inside Training, which is the wrong place for the thing most people arrive with. > > You can also pause a debate without ending it. It sits with the leave option now, and it keeps your turns and your place for when you come back. > > Fixed: the AI could occasionally mention its own turn number mid-debate. It can't anymore. > > Keep contending.
