Really impressed with GreyForge so far. Being able to photograph an unpainted miniature, choose a few basic ideas like race or skin color, and then see a finished painting concept is incredibly useful for planning a model before putting paint on it.What surprised me most is how well it recognizes the actual sculpt and preserves the details instead of simply generating a generic character. The painting guides are also genuinely useful, with specific Vallejo paint suggestions, washes, highlights, weathering techniques, and alternative paint matching.I especially like being able to generate the visual concept first and only create the painting guide once I know I like the scheme. There is still room for improvement—the generated guide can occasionally include details that weren’t on the original miniature—but the developer seems actively involved, and the core idea already works remarkably well.I liked it enough after testing several miniatures that I bought the 50-generation pack. For miniature painters who sometimes stare at a grey model wondering, “Okay… what colors am I going to use on this thing?” GreyForge is a very clever solution.★★★★★
Great tool

This is a great tool for someone that struggles to visualize how they want their finished mini to look. Even better if you have a limited pallet. Just tell the app which paints you have and it does the heavy lifting. If you’re used to using the Citadel Color app, it is like a more user friendly version and you get to tell it what paint to use. I also appreciate how involved Nathaniel is. 3 days after a suggestion for adding The Army Painter Historical line, boom, it’s added in an update.
Fantastic!

This app is amazing. I think it’s going to help my painting a lot. Thanks!
Great Ai app poor business model
POWER PRIME
I will say I do like what the app does. Giving color to grey models where you don’t know where the paint should go is a great tool. I also love the Ai critique. The Problem The app only gives you 6 free uses. Once all 6 are used up. You don’t get anymore free ones. You have the pay $10+ to use the app again. Most apps have you log in daily and get a free one. This one just locks you behind a paywall.Stick to other free ai tools. Even though very good it’s not worth $10+ to use something for a day and then use once in a while.
Developer Response
Hi, I completely understand your frustration, and let me explain why: right now, the service is barely profitable because I always insist on using the best models. I could have offered more free usage, but to do that, I would have had to make compromises I strongly disagree with, like running ads and selling user data. I know most platforms do this, and some people are fine with that trade-off, but it goes against my values. That’s why I simply can't offer more free uses at this time...
User interface improvements.
