1.13 — a few moments with kevin. settings has been rebuilt. warm cream background, plum text, a small post-it tucked into the sidebar, handwritten notes scattered through. reads like a quieter room now. onboarding grew from 4 screens to 8. you'll hear more from kevin (his first day above ground, his thermos, the slideshow), get a heads-up on what he can't see and pick how chatty you want him before he starts. hovering over the share and review buttons makes kevin peek up from behind them. same little bit as the website. small fixes: the weekly favourite app stat no longer shows "loginwindow". "show welcome again" actually restarts from the beginning. the welcome flow now reads as kevin himself the whole way through.

kevin learns when not to interrupt. he stays quiet during fullscreen video and games now. no more popping up over your movie. a new feedback tab in settings lets you send a feature request straight from the app. share and review buttons live there too. settings got a redesign — general is grouped into sections, about is compact, app version is visible. side-dock users: kevin slides out sideways from behind a left or right dock now, rather than rising from below. small fixes: • weekly favourite app no longer shows "loginwindow" • can't accidentally drag kevin off the end of the dock (Kevin is sorry about that) • "off (silent)" properly silences every line he knows

kevin learns to introduce himself. a new "what kevin does" tab in settings lists every little thing he reacts to, so you don't have to guess. the about tab keeps stats now: days you've known each other, sorries said, post-its on your desk, your weekly favourite app. there's a "reset kevin" button too, if you'd like a fresh start. on ultrawide and external monitors, kevin now finds the right spot above the dock instead of drifting off to the corner. he also slows his peeks down on low battery and in low-power mode.

kevin's done a lot of growing up. there are new reactions for plugging in your charger, switching wifi, going dark mode, locking your screen, leaving him alone, hovering over him, opening system settings, and a bunch more. there's a sorry counter in the menu bar now. if you don't see him for 7+ days he'll mumble a welcome-back. sandra exists now. Kevin might tell you about her. (and a multi-day lost-pen arc you'll only see if you wait around for it.)

a few things i've worked on since launch: i'm less shy now. the old settling-in period was four hours, which the team said was "frankly excessive." i say new things. more lines for when you copy, more post-its, more thermos thoughts. less repetition. i sleep when you lock the screen. before, i had to be left alone for a while before i nodded off. now i match the mac. the settings window opens properly. it was blank for some of you, which — i'm sorry, that's embarrassing. you can put me back on the dock. if you drag me off and drop me near the dock, i go home. there's a menu option too. just in case. my onboarding asks more nicely. the buttons are clearer about what's coming. thanks for keeping me on your dock. — k.
