Silhouette - Clean Cutouts
On-device background remover
Free · In‑App Purchases
New on iPhone and iPad: cut out a whole shoot on the device you took it with. One Pro purchase covers your iPhone, iPad and Mac, with no subscription.
Silhouette removes backgrounds on your iPhone and iPad, for sellers, photographers and designers who need clean cutouts of a whole shoot, not one photo at a time, and never want to upload a single pixel to do it. Pick photos from your library or a folder in Files, choose a model, tune the edge, and save transparent PNGs (or JPEG/HEIC on a solid background) to Photos, to Files, or anywhere the share sheet reaches.
FREE TO DOWNLOAD
Download Silhouette free and cut out single images with Apple Vision: no account, no trial timer, no quota. The three high-detail models below are free to try on your own photos; exporting their results needs Pro.
Unlock Pro for the high-detail models, whole collections exported in one go, and every marketplace check below. Pay once, no subscription. One purchase unlocks Pro on your iPhone, iPad and Mac, and it is shareable with your family.
KEY FEATURES
• Four On-Device Models — Apple Vision for instant matting, free forever. IS-Net DIS for general-purpose segmentation, MODNet for portraits and hair, and BiRefNet for the finest edges on detailed and translucent subjects, on devices with the memory for it. Silhouette tells you if yours does not. (Pro, free to try)
• Marketplace Presets — Export straight to Shopify, Amazon, Etsy, eBay, or Google Shopping dimensions. Silhouette trims the subject out of its frame, fits and pads it to each canvas, and adds the marketplace to each file name. (Pro)
• Grounding Shadows — Drop a contact, soft drop, or floor-fade shadow under the subject so a product reads as standing on the page instead of floating. Composited on the device, never generated, and kept clear of the readiness background check so a shadowed white export still scores clean. (Pro)
• Readiness Reports — Score every export against the marketplace's rules before you upload: dimensions, minimum resolution, background, margins, and crop risk. Review pass or fail in the app, or write a report beside the images in a Files folder, then work the failures: each one carries the fix that clears it. (Pro)
• Product Fidelity Checks — Confirm the cutout did not damage the product itself. Silhouette re-reads the finished export and flags a logo the matte sliced through, label text that stopped reading, a barcode that no longer scans, and color that drifted from the source. (Pro)
• Collections & Batch Processing — Organize photos into Collections, configure settings once, and process the whole set. Silhouette tracks which images are done, pending, or outdated, so you can change a setting without reprocessing everything. (Pro)
• Real Edge Control — Tune the mask with the dials that matter: threshold, edge refinement, matte gamma, and Flip TTA for cleaner hair and fur. With Apple Vision, tap a subject to drop it or bring it back, and keep just the one you want in a busy scene.
• Flexible Export — PNG, JPEG, or HEIC. Keep transparency or composite on white, black, or any custom hex background. Save to Photos, to a folder in Files, or share the finished set.
• Model Manager — Download the large models (BiRefNet is around 440 MB) with verified checksums and pinned licenses, and remove them in a tap. Only Vision ships in the app, so you fetch only what you need.
On iPad, drag photos from another app straight onto a collection. Each device keeps its own collections.
PRIVACY BY DESIGN
Every model runs on your device. No uploads, no accounts, no cloud quotas, no telemetry. Silhouette never reads your photo library: you pick photos in the system picker, and it only asks to add the cutouts you save. The readiness and fidelity checks run on the device too, and Silhouette collects zero analytics.
Requires iOS 26 or iPadOS 26.
