Your family photos deserve a second life. Repair Damaged Photos brings faded, creased, and degraded family photographs back to vivid clarity — whether they're decades-old prints, damaged slides, or low-quality digital scans.
The Old Photo restoration workflow is purpose-built for aging photographs. It recovers fading, removes scratches and dust spots from the surface, normalizes uneven tones, and preserves the subtle grain that gives vintage photos their character. Hit auto-restore for balanced one-click results, or fine-tune each control to match your original's unique look.
Beyond restoration, nine specialized workflows let you repair whatever your images need:
Enhance applies noise reduction and color correction (grain, saturation, hue, contrast, brightness, or pure black-and-white conversion). Denoise handles dedicated noise reduction without the full color pipeline. Document cleans up scanned archives and text images with background normalization and speckle removal. Repair uses a brush to fix scratches, dust, and creases. Deblur recovers motion and focus blur. Super-Resolution upscales 2× or 4× with detail synthesis. Inpainting fills large missing or damaged regions with content-aware fill. Portrait sharpens faces and restores skin detail using Apple Vision face detection.
Every workflow offers live preview (for Enhance, Denoise, Document, Deblur, Super-Resolution) or explicit apply when the operation is heavier (Repair, Inpainting, Old Photo, Portrait). Built-in presets jump-start your work — Light Grain, Event Night, and Heavy Noise for Enhance/Denoise; Readable Scan, Archival B&W, and Paper Cleanup for Document — and you can save custom presets for future use.
Transparent-hole auto-detection routes PNG files with transparent regions straight to inpainting.
All processing happens locally on your Mac, with no account and no internet connection required. The app is fully sandboxed with user-selected file access only.
Formats: Import JPEG, PNG, TIFF, HEIC, and most camera RAW. Export to PNG, JPEG (adjustable 70–100%), TIFF, or HEIC. EXIF metadata (ISO, exposure time, camera model) displays from your photos.
