more After having a disappointing first use, and following a developer response, I gave the app another try. I have to say I was very impressed with the app. The layout is very intuitive, allows for excellent customization and entry of details. The developers, through their response to my concerns, have shown a strong desire to produce an excellent app that is both useful, but also very functional. I used it on an iPhone 11, and had no issues. Sting Tension AI is now my go to app to track the tension of my strings.

String Tension AI 2.37, the best iOS tennis racquet and string-tension tracking app on the market, makes Top Strings For You more useful with clearer match scores, individual string ratings, racquet-pattern guidance, and labels for strings you already use and tour-player usage. With PRO, the full recommendations list adds suggested starting tensions, tension-retention comparisons when supported by your measurements, and a Budget-friendly only filter.
Match scores no longer depend on which other strings are shown. The Strings-tab preview uses your playstyle and string ratings; the full list also considers your measured string history. My Strings, Wishlist, and String Comparison recognize alternate string names more reliably, including their usage and cost history. Calibration handles equipment corrections more consistently, Smart Detection reduces false alerts from noisy readings, and Reset All Data adds safeguards when switching iCloud accounts.
App Store Release Notes:
- Clearer match scores reflect how well a string suits you, without changing just because other strings are shown. Equally suitable strings keep a consistent order.
- Strings you already use are marked "In your bag" or "Used before", and you can see how many tour players use a recommended string.
- Recommendations know more about each string: popular strings now have their own comfort, spin, durability, power, control, and feel ratings, so similar strings are told apart.
- Recommendations now consider your racquet's string pattern: an open pattern favors strings that last, and a dense pattern favors softer, livelier strings.
- PRO: each top string pick now comes with a suggested starting tension for your main racquet.
- PRO: when your measurements show your current string losing tension, recommendations point out strings that hold tension better.
- PRO: recommended strings show a price band, and a "Budget-friendly only" filter keeps the list to budget and mid-range strings, with a reminder when you are close to your string budget. The reminder reflects string-cost changes received through iCloud.
- The Strings-tab PRO preview follows the budget-friendly filter too, with a clear message when no string matches it.
- Correcting a restring's date keeps historical play on the strings recorded in use that day. Gauge corrections are handled more accurately in Smart Detection for older string setups.
- Recommendations and String Comparison stay consistent when string jobs have identical dates.
- A string saved under another of its names (such as Babolat RPM Rough for RPM Blast Rough) is recognized as the same string: it shows "In your bag", and with PRO your ratings and measurements of it count towards its recommendation.
- My Strings and Wishlist also recognize alternate names, including Hyper-G Heaven for Hyper-G. Recording those strings marks an existing wishlist entry as tried without adding a duplicate.
- Wishlist browsing is more responsive, and library labels stay current after iCloud changes or recording new strings.
- My Strings includes usage, costs, gauges, and last-used dates for string jobs saved under alternate names. String Comparison includes those jobs' costs and measured tension retention too.
- Wishlist reminders stay current when another device marks a string as tried.
- Smart Detection reduces false new-string and sudden-loss alerts from noisy readings, and a noisy follow-up no longer dismisses a valid new-string prompt on the Dashboard.
- If deleting a playing session fails, Session Details stays open with your typed notes.
- Correcting a racquet's head size, or string gauge or material before the first saved reading, preserves calibration where possible. An incompatible calibration is cleared for recalibration.
- Added safeguards for Reset All Data when switching iCloud accounts.

String Tension AI 2.36, the iOS tennis racquet and string-tension tracking app, makes Tension Advisor more useful when planning your next restring.
With PRO, try a different string material, gauge or swing speed in What-If, and see how each choice changes the advice. When you open a new string setup from the advisor, the recommendation updates for the strings you enter, with Apply, Undo and an optional hybrid split suggestion.
Your playstyle profile can now describe the climate where you usually play. When needed, Tension Advisor asks whether your current tension was chosen for your game or suggested by the shop, helping it avoid adjusting for the same preferences twice. Advice also balances combined adjustments more carefully and makes better use of playing intensity and measured tension loss. Calibration changes and equipment corrections are handled more consistently, readings keep the time they were taken, and historical play is assigned more accurately. Existing data is preserved during a normal upgrade.
App Store Release Notes
- With PRO, explore different string materials, gauges and swing speeds in What-If, alongside the existing court, weather, arm-comfort and priority choices.
- See the individual effect of each What-If choice and the combined recommended tension.
- When starting a string setup from Tension Advisor, advice updates for the strings you enter. Your manual tension edits are respected, with Apply and Undo controls for the advice.
- Two-material hybrid setups can offer an optional lower-crosses split while keeping the overall tension close to the recommendation.
- Add your usual playing climate to your playstyle profile, so tension advice reflects where you play. Leave it unspecified to use the conditions recorded with your measurements.
- When needed, Tension Advisor asks whether your current tension is already tuned for you or is a shop default. Confidence better reflects how much is known about that starting point.
- More balanced advice accounts for playing intensity and separates early string settling from ongoing tension loss. Light play no longer lowers the advice simply because you play less often.
- Clearer material-switch explanations and improved layouts on smaller screens.
- Calibration now offers I've Restrung Since Then when the recorded strings are out of date, so you can record the new strings before calibrating them.
- Smart Detection better distinguishes calibration and equipment corrections from real changes in your strings. Measurement comparisons avoid treating those corrections as tension loss.
- Readings saved later keep the time they were taken, including their baseline eligibility, and remain eligible for iCloud sync.
- Log past play on retired strings, including Apple Health workouts, while the racquet awaits a restring. Days with no recorded strings are explained, and corrected restring dates keep
playing history aligned.
- More reliable sharing and notification handling, plus clearer string-budget forecasts and alerts.

String Tension AI 2.35 gives clearer feedback in the iOS tennis racquet and string-tension tracking app when exports, saves, Apple Health connections or notifications cannot complete. PRO features explain when your subscription cannot be confirmed, and messages remain visible on the screen you are using.
App Store Release Notes
- Clearer messages when exports, racquet photos, backup deletion or saving changes cannot complete.
- Status and error messages stay visible on the screen you are using, including open sheets and detail screens.
- PRO features tell you when your subscription cannot be confirmed, so you know when to try again.
- Apple Health explains when connecting fails or a Keep or Remove choice cannot be saved.
- Improved Apple Health imports.
2.35 Oct 10
String Tension AI 2.34 makes it easier to keep track of the people who string your racquets. Open My Stringers directly from the Strings hub to manage contacts, favorites and restring history, whether you use Free or PRO. A stringer's Annual Summary, including PDF export, now requires PRO, with clearer access and export progress.
The How to Measure video has refreshed English narration with more even volume between lines. Dashboard figures, racquet health, Compare Racquets and Tension Advisor guidance stay current when the reliability of a saved reading changes. Stringer screens handle records removed through iCloud sync more safely, and clearer delete guidance helps you preserve stringer history. Existing data is preserved during a normal upgrade; optional analytics continue to require consent.
App Store Release Notes
- Open My Stringers directly from the Strings hub. Manage contacts, favorites and restring history with Free or PRO.
- Review a stringer's year with Annual Summary and export it as a PDF with PRO. Export progress helps prevent repeated taps from opening duplicate reports.
- Refreshed English narration, new German, Italian, Spanish, French, Danish, Brazilian Portuguese and Simplified Chinese narration and more consistent voice volume make How to Measure easier to follow.
- Dashboard figures, racquet health, Compare Racquets and Tension Advisor guidance update more reliably when a saved reading's reliability changes.
- Stringer details, editing and annual summaries close safely if iCloud sync removes the stringer.
- Clearer delete guidance explains what happens to past restrings and when to archive a stringer to keep that history.

String Tension AI 2.33 improves smoothness and responsiveness across the #1 iOS tennis racquet and string-tension tracking app, helping Free and PRO players spend less time waiting and more time checking their strings. Dashboard, History, racquet details and string tools are smoother to use with long histories. Measuring, adding notes and sharing results are more responsive, with lighter visual effects on older supported devices and in Low Power Mode.
The catalog adds 100 racquet models from Babolat, Diadem, Dunlop, Head, Prince, ProKennex, Solinco, Tecnifibre, Volkl, Wilson and Yonex, plus 28 strings from Babolat, Diadem, Dunlop, Head, Luxilon, reString, Solinco, Tecnifibre and Yonex, making it easier to find your equipment. Custom brand entry supports strings outside the list. PRO users can reach Cost Analytics directly from Cost Summary, while clearer plan pricing helps players compare purchase options. Forecast, History, widget and iCloud sync fixes make everyday tracking more dependable. Existing data is preserved with no upgrade steps required
2.33 Oct 1
String Tension AI 2.32 gives users of the #1 iOS tennis racquet and string-tension tracking app a narrated How to Measure video with localized captions, more accurate string-job history, and clearer spending by currency. Apple Health import review remains free on supported devices, while automatic import remains a PRO feature. The Tension Advisor now keeps recommendations consistent across restrings; personalized advice continues to require PRO.
Calibration and tension forecasts handle changes in the calibration used for a set of strings, and Apple Health sessions that may duplicate a manual log are easier to review. Exports, reminders, purchase restore, recovery and iCloud sync are more reliable. Existing data is preserved during a normal upgrade; the release includes a lightweight local data migration and already deployed iCloud schema additions. Optional diagnostics continue to respect analytics consent.
App Store Release Notes
- Learn to measure with the narrated How to Measure video, localized captions, playback controls and Skip.
- Past string jobs imported from Apple Health stay in history without replacing current strings; backdated restrings assign playing sessions to the strings used on those days.
- Tension Advisor recommendations no longer drift just because you followed earlier advice and restrung again. Split-tension setups apply the suggested change to both sides.
- Calibration and forecasts use readings from the current calibration; older strings ask you to enter a current reference tension.
- Spending and comparisons keep different currencies separate. Cost per day uses completed string jobs with recorded prices.
- Possible duplicate Apple Health sessions are flagged for review, and automatic import resumes more reliably after PRO is renewed.
- CSV and PDF reports are easier to use, with clearer split tensions, improved racquet QR links and better spreadsheet compatibility.
- Restore Purchases shows progress and a clear result. Reminders, backups and iCloud sync are more reliable, and measuring stays responsive while the microphone starts.
2.32 Sep 27
String Tension AI 2.31 makes measurement and calibration startup more responsive for Free
and PRO users of the iOS tennis racquet and string-tension tracking app. History, racquet lists,
Dashboard statistics, baseline-reminder checks and string-setup editing also do less repeated work,
while synced changes now refresh History, comparisons, Playing Stats and string-health results more
reliably. String-setup identity remains protected if sync changes a setup while its edit form is open.
App Store Release Notes
- Measurement and calibration startup stay responsive while iOS prepares the microphone.
- Leaving the app while a measurement is starting now reliably stops it.
- History and racquet lists do less repeated work, especially for long measurement libraries.
- Dashboard statistics, baseline-reminder checks and string-setup editing are more efficient.
- Synced changes now refresh History, comparisons, Playing Stats and string-health results more
reliably.
- String details remain protected if a synced reading arrives while their edit form is open.
2.31 Sep 20
String Tension AI 2.30 speaks your language. The app's interface, reminders, exported reports and
daily tennis facts are now available in German, French, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese,
Simplified Chinese and Danish, alongside English. The deliberate English-only exceptions are
listed below.
There is nothing to switch on. The app follows the language your iPhone is already set to. If you
would rather read String Tension AI in a different language than the rest of your phone, a new
Language row in Settings takes you straight to the iOS setting that controls it.
Numbers follow your region too. Dates, times, decimal separators and currency now read the way your
country writes them, and a new user in a country that uses the metric system starts on kilograms
instead of pounds. Nothing changes for anyone already using the app: your unit stays exactly as you
set it.
Your reminders keep up as well. If you change the app's language, eligible scheduled reminders are
rewritten in the new language on the next launch — without losing their place. A weekly reminder
still arrives in the same week, a countdown still counts down from where it was, and nothing already
in your Notification Center is removed. Older timer-based reminders move to the new language after
their next delivery, as described in Compatibility Notes.
The Home Screen widgets and the Siri shortcuts are translated too, so the phrase you say and the
status you glance at read the same way the app does.
This update also makes reminders and CloudKit deletion safer. If a reminder is changed or turned
off while its language is being rebuilt, the newest choice wins instead of an older alert returning.
When sync is enabled, deletions are saved for retry before network work begins, and deleting a
racquet also removes its synced readings and string setups rather than leaving orphaned records that
can return on another device.
One thing stays in English on purpose: the String Coach. Its answers are written by an on-device
model whose output this release cannot yet hold to the app's own standards in another language, so
the Coach is offered only while the app is running in English. It returns in a later update.
App Store Release Notes
- String Tension AI is now available in German, French, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese,
Simplified Chinese and Danish.
- The app follows your iPhone's language automatically. A new Language row in Settings takes you to
the iOS setting if you want the app in a different language than the rest of your phone.
- Dates, times, numbers and currency now follow your region.
- New users in metric countries start in kilograms. Your existing unit setting is untouched.
- Reminders, Home Screen widgets and Siri shortcuts are translated as well. Changing the app's
language updates eligible scheduled reminders without losing their timing; older timer-based
reminders update after their next delivery.
- Reminder changes now keep the newest schedule or off-state during a language refresh, and synced
deletions are retained for retry so removed data does not return after an interruption.
- The String Coach remains English-only for now.
2.30 Sep 19
String Tension AI 2.29 is a readability and clarity update. The explanatory text throughout Settings
is set larger, so the lines that tell you what each control actually does are comfortable to read
rather than something to squint at.
Calibration also asks its questions more plainly. When the app cannot tell whether the reference
tension you are calibrating against is still current, it now puts the question to you as two clearly
offered options, with nothing pre-selected on your behalf.
This release also says out loud what the app does with your readings. A supported reading with saved
tap-agreement evidence now carries a Cross-checked mark you can tap to see what stood behind it, a
reading that did not hold up is marked as set aside when you review it in History, and a new How we
measure card in About, an onboarding page, a paywall line and a share-card line tell the same short
story: several taps have to agree before a number is stated, a doubtful reading is kept but never
shapes your trend, and a number you have already seen never changes.
The labels around a reading explain themselves too. Tap its Measurement Quality pill to learn what
that capture's rating means, or tap Est. to revisit how an estimated figure differs from a calibrated
one. If saved capture detail cannot be read, the app now says the rating is unavailable instead
of calling the taps Poor or claiming the reading came from an older format.
Large histories and string libraries are lighter to work with. Preparing history PDF and CSV
exports, grouping long histories, and editing a string's notes no longer keep expensive report or
decay work on the screen's hot path. Repeated PDF shares also use separate temporary files, so one
export cannot overwrite or remove another that is still open.
2.29 Sep 12
String Tension AI 2.28 changes what an estimated tension means. Until now a reading was an
estimate of the tension actually sitting in the stringbed, which is always well below the number
the stringer set on the machine — every bed loses a large slice of its pull tension the moment it
comes off. That is physically correct and practically confusing: players compare the app's number
to the number they asked for, and it always looked low.
From 2.28 the app reports on the basis players actually use. A racquet strung today and measured
today reads at, or very close to, the setting it was strung to, and falls from there as the strings
relax and you play. Every figure that is stated as a share of that setting — the restring
suggestion, tension targets, the health gauge, the decay forecast, Smart Detection's fresh-strings
and abnormal-drop alerts — now means exactly what it says instead of quietly living on an offset.
Existing racquets are not re-interpreted. A string setup keeps the basis it was created under for
its whole life, so nothing in your history moves, no chart jumps and no alert fires because of this
release. The next time you restring, that new setup is created on the new basis and reads against
your stringer's number from its first tap.
The measurement pipeline was tightened in the same release: the app now listens to the part of the
tap where the bed is still ringing clearly, refuses to commit a reading when your taps disagree
with each other rather than averaging two different answers together, decides doubling and halving
errors on evidence, and measures a wider range of string pitches so tightly strung small-head
racquets are no longer out of range.
Settings are easier to navigate too: you can search for a setting and jump straight to its real
control, and the reorganised sections put related controls together. The How to Measure guide now
shows each step with a purpose-built visual scene and animation where it helps. Apple Health import
explains its heart-rate states and suggestions more clearly, and a set of onboarding, accessibility
and photo-loading fixes smooths out everyday use.
App Store Release Notes
Estimated tension is now reported on the same basis as your stringer's setting: a freshly strung
racquet reads at that number and drops from there.
Restring suggestions, tension targets, health and decay figures now mean exactly what they say.
Existing string setups are unchanged — the new basis starts with your next restring.
More reliable readings: the app measures the clearest part of each tap and now covers tightly
strung small-head racquets.
A reading is only committed when your taps agree; the app asks for another tap instead of
averaging two different answers.
Calibration feedback now judges your result against what is typical for that string.
Search Settings and jump directly to the control you need.
Follow the redesigned How to Measure guide with clear visual and animated examples.
2.28 Sep 10
String Tension AI (version 2.27) keeps the Tension Advisor's personalization with your racquet instead of with
one device. The fine-tuning the advisor learns from your stringing outcomes now travels with the
racquet through iCloud Sync and through your backups, so a new iPhone — or a restore — picks up the
recommendations where you left off rather than starting over.
New version 2.27 also makes the rest of the app easier to find. Session logging, importing tennis workouts from
Apple Watch, the String Coach, your Playstyle Profile and the sessions calendar are all things
plenty of players never came across. A short "What's New" list catches you up once, a single
suggestion card on the Dashboard offers one of them at a time when it fits what you are doing, and
NEW badges mark the entry points for a while. Every one of them can be waved away for good, and
nothing is ever suggested twice once you have tried it.
2.27 Sep 8
String Tension AI (2.26) makes it easier to keep your playing log current with a new Apple Health tennis-workout import. Review tennis workouts from Apple Health, choose the racquet and intensity for each one, and add them to your log with confidence. The app highlights likely duplicates so you can avoid adding the same session twice.
After an initial review, PRO players can turn on automatic import for new tennis workouts and choose a default racquet and intensity. You can also optionally let heart rate suggest an intensity for an imported workout, without saving your heart-rate data.
Privacy is built into the feature: String Tension AI only reads the Apple Health data you authorize and never writes to Health. Imported session records stay on your iPhone and are not synced or included in the app's data exports. If a report or share you choose uses aggregate results that include imported sessions, the app makes that clear before you share.
2.26 Sep 4
String Tension AI (version 2.25) puts your racquet status where you can see it at a glance and makes common actions easier to start without hunting through the app. The new String Status widget brings the current condition of your strings, a prompt when it is time to measure again, and a direct route back to the right racquet to the Home Screen and Lock Screen. Choose a specific racquet or let the widget automatically follow the one that needs attention most.
The app now also works more naturally with Siri, Shortcuts, Spotlight, and the Action button. You can start a measurement, check a racquet's string status, log a tennis session, or open a racquet's history from those system surfaces. Your racquet library is searchable in Spotlight, so it is easier to return to the frame you want by its saved name, make, model, or current strings.
This release also strengthens the reliability of widget updates, widget navigation, Spotlight results, and changes to your racquet library, data, subscription, or device state.
2.25 Sep 1
String Tension AI (version 2.24) makes your restring plan more personal and your playing history easier to keep current. With PRO, Restring Analysis can now use a dependable record of both measurements and logged play to present an estimated playing-hours countdown at your current pace, rather than relying on calendar time alone. The same guidance stays aligned across racquet details, Insights, share cards, string-job PDF reports, String AI Coach, and optional reminders.
Session logging is quicker, too: the form remembers the duration and intensity of your most recent session without carrying forward an old date. Backdated sessions are assigned to the string setup that was active when you played, helping playing time, cost, and restring views reflect the right history. Optional PRO reminders can now encourage you to resume logging, set a weekly goal, or recognize an approaching milestone.
String AI Coach is easier to reach from the places where questions arise, including Dashboard, Strings, racquet details, measurement results, and individual reading details. This release also strengthens notification delivery, cloud-sync recovery, privacy handling, and subscription transitions throughout the app.
2.24 Aug 31
String Tension AI 2.23 is a maintenance and performance release of the #1 iOS app that measures tennis racquet string tension from a tap on the stringbed and tracks each racquet and string setup over time. It requires iOS 17 or later. Launching, measuring, browsing history, and viewing charts all feel smoother, especially with larger libraries and on older iPhones. Charts and VoiceOver present your readings more clearly, and the readings behind each chart stay reachable from its supporting list — Free keeps your most recent readings, and PRO unlocks the full history.
Your data and guidance are more dependable, too. My Strings better protects saved entries, custom and two-sided string setups are easier to manage, and dashboard insights, string-health prompts, and reminders stay aligned with your latest information. Improvements to setup and String Coach make the experience more reliable from your first racquet through every reading that follows.
2.23 Aug 26
String Tension AI 2.22 adds two major features to the iOS tennis racquet and string-tension tracking app: redesigned share cards and String Coach. String Coach is an on-device AI chat experience that answers questions about your racquet, strings, tension, playing history, restring timing, and costs using facts from your saved data. It requires iOS 26 or later, a supported locale, and an available Apple on-device language model; some questions require String Tension AI PRO.
The share-card redesign adds a feed-friendly portrait format, consistent personal artwork, clearer charts and status figures, and a new String Job Summary card for eligible retired setups. Version 2.22 also improves share-card accuracy, entitlement checks, accessibility, and layout reliability. String Coach keeps your questions, answers, and racquet data on device, does not log conversation text, and does not retain conversations after you close the Coach.
This update adds redesigned tennis share cards and String Coach, an on-device AI assistant grounded in your saved racquet and string data.
- Create refreshed visual cards in a new feed-friendly shape, with a consistent personal artwork style across your String Health, tension, milestone, streak, and cost highlights.
- Share a new String Job Summary card for retired setups, bringing their key playing, tension, and cost details together in one image when the relevant data is available.
- Ask the new String Coach about your racquet and strings. Its highlighted facts come directly from your data, while its on-device AI provides the supporting explanation.
- Enjoy clearer cards, more reliable sharing, and a milestone detail sheet that no longer crowds its badge under the navigation bar.
Plus, as always, performance improvements and bug fixes.
2.22 Aug 22
Version 2.21 makes recommendations more personal by learning from the strings you have rated (PRO feature) and the trustworthy tension-retention history you have recorded. It also gives longer-term players a clearer view of how strings hold tension across multiple completed jobs, while making calendar, scrolling, action-menu, target-alert, and dashboard interactions more dependable (for ALL users).
Check out the new Session Calendar feature and log your sessions.
Plus, as always, performance improvements and bug fixes.
2.21 Aug 15
Version 2.20 gives your playing history a clearer home with a month-at-a-glance calendar, makes string and restring workflows faster, and adds a convenient way to set a tension target after a measurement (PRO feature). It also improves motion accessibility, search behavior, and the reliability of several live data views.
Plus, as always, performance improvements and bug fixes.
2.20 Aug 10
Version 2.19 makes it easier to share your progress and racquet insights with polished visual cards, and to contact us from Settings when you need help or want to suggest an improvement. You can turn supported String Health, string-job, milestone, and playing-streak details into a shareable image, then preview it in the shape that fits where you want to post it. The measurement tutorial is also more comfortable on compact screens.
