Orua - Wealth & expenses
Net worth, investments & FX
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Orua is your private net-worth ledger.
We believe your financial data should never become ad-targeting material. Orua keeps everything on your phone — no account sign-up, no third-party tracking; cloud backup goes through your own iCloud. Only you can see how your assets are distributed.
[Absolute Privacy]
Positions, purchase history and tags are all stored locally on your device. The app only goes online to fetch quotes, and the backend keeps no personal data.
iCloud sync across iPhone and iPad (CloudKit): your data lives only in your own iCloud and merges automatically between devices, with JSON or CSV export anytime.
[Multi-Market Support]
Taiwan, US, Japan, Hong Kong and Vietnam stocks, crypto, forex, precious metals, plus onshore & offshore funds with daily NAV — all in one app.
Lot-based positions track the cost and timing of every buy-in; selling automatically records realized P&L.
[Statistics & Analysis]
Allocation donut, balance sheet, investment P&L (today vs. total, expandable per market down to each holding), annualized return (XIRR), and realized P&L.
Export the full net-worth report as a PDF for reconciliation or record-keeping.
[Growth Visualization]
Switch between 1D / 30D / 6M / 1Y / YTD / custom ranges on the home screen, with per-category change rates.
The asset range chart marks every purchase point.
[Handy Tools]
- Memos: jot down investment notes and to-dos
- Recurring plans: installment payments and scheduled deposits with reminders
- Receivables & liabilities: principal, repayment progress and adjustment history at a glance
- Asset groups: drag to combine holdings into custom subtotals
[Tags & Lock]
Two-level tagging — tag a whole position or a single lot. "Lock" positions you don't want counted: off the books, but never deleted.
[Privacy Mode]
Don't want amounts glanced at in public? One tap masks totals and subtotals while individual items stay browsable.
[Friendly Interface]
- Two UI modes: Minimal / Classic (bottom tab bar)
- Dual-currency display, 4-step font scaling, automatic light/dark mode
- 7 languages: Traditional & Simplified Chinese, English, Japanese, French, Vietnamese, Cantonese
— Why "Orua" —
Orua comes from the root of "Aurora".
The reason I built it is simple: to save up for a trip to take my girlfriend to see the northern lights.
May it help you save toward your own faraway place, too.
— Our Promise —
No ads, no third-party tracking, no data monetization. Your data belongs to you alone.

Pull to refresh, now in Orua’s own style
Pull down on Home and watch the lines light up one by one.
■ A new pull-to-refresh animation
- Pull down on Home and Orua’s four diagonal lines light up one by one; a gentle buzz at the end and the refresh starts.
- No more “Updating quotes & FX…” bar at the top while it refreshes — the lines tell you. You’ll still see when it’s done.
iOS support
Starting with this version, Orua requires iOS 18 or later.
Going forward, Orua will follow Apple’s own maintenance schedule and gradually drop iOS versions Apple no longer maintains.

Coming next
The next version will support Apple Intelligence! Ask about your own records, or simply ask how an Orua feature works — managing your money gets a little easier.
It needs an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence, running iOS 27 or later. Answers are handled by Apple’s Private Cloud Compute and never pass through Orua’s servers.

A second way to track debts and receivables
Credit cards, shared expenses and other amounts that keep changing can now be tracked by their current balance.
■ Fixed or floating amount — pick when adding
- Mortgages, installments and loans with a set total: choose “Fixed amount” and record each payment as before, with progress shown.
- Credit cards, bills and shared expenses that keep changing: choose “Floating amount” and record increases, decreases or adjustments. You can also repay from an account, or move money you receive straight into one.
■ Clearer numbers, no overpaying
- Receivable and liability details no longer show minus signs; labels like “Owed increased / decreased” tell the direction.
- Repayments and collections can’t exceed what’s left — tap “Pay off all” to fill in the exact amount.
■ Fixes
- Repaying an older liability by transfer from an account could leave the remaining balance wrong; that’s fixed. If something looks off, use “Adjust” in its details.
- After un-settling you can “Mark as settled” again, and editing a name no longer overwrites records that just synced in.
Once you start using “Floating amount”, your other iPhones, iPads and Macs not yet on 5.5 will pause until they’re updated — just update them to the latest version. Your data isn’t affected. Not sure which to pick? See Settings › User Guide › Receivables and liabilities. If anything feels off, write to me from Settings › About — I read every email.

Redesigned sharing, faster quotes
Share cards are rebuilt from scratch, and quotes load faster.
■ Share cards, rebuilt
- The right size for posts, Stories and stickers, in four looks: White, Black, Palette and Aurora.
- Amounts stay hidden by default, only percentages show; it even suggests a caption you can edit.
■ Empty pages show you how to start
- When Locked, Tags or Memos are still empty, they show a live example.
- Empty categories on Home tell you what belongs there, with a tap to see how to add it.
■ Faster, more accurate quotes
- Pull to refresh now fetches every market at once, so the wait is much shorter; Taiwan stocks lag less during trading.
- Funds now show a "Last checked" time, so you know whether the NAV is current.
An apology to Mac users: in 5.3, tapping a holding or opening Appearance on Mac made the app quit. That's fixed. When you make the window very wide, investments and the other categories now sit side by side in two columns instead of leaving big empty margins. If anything still feels clunky, write to me from Settings › About. I read every message.

Wider, and more fun
Two-column layouts on iPad and Mac, an aurora night scene on Home, and a new User Guide.
■ An aurora on Home
- Swipe the net worth card left for a snowy night scene; tap the polar bear or the cabin to see that category.
- The aurora glows brighter when investments rise, clouds drift in when you have debts, and a shooting star marks a new net-worth high.
■ iPad and Mac get their own layout
- On a wide screen, Home splits into two columns: net worth and trend on the left, the five categories on the right; it follows rotation and resizing.
- The Mac window can now be resized freely; with a keyboard, Esc closes a page and ⌘R refreshes quotes.
■ A new User Guide
- At the bottom of Settings, “User Guide” walks through the five categories and everyday tasks, page by page.
- Search it for “sell” or “transfer”; the Quick tour replays from there too.
Most of the work in this version went into bigger screens: making the same ledger feel right on iPhone, iPad and Mac took many rounds of tweaking.
The aurora night scene is a more playful experiment, a way to look at your money that isn't only numbers. Whether you like it, which characters you'd like to see, or anything that still feels clunky, write to me from Settings › About. I read every message.

Rounder, lighter to the touch
Glass, a chart magnifier, and pages that open from your fingertip.
■ Menus now pop out
- Currency, icon, account and custom-range pickers pop out right where you tap, then tuck back in.
- Currencies show just a flag and code; the icon now sits next to the name.
■ Native iOS glass
- Buttons, menus and alerts are now glass, with a gentle bounce when pressed.
- Home categories open edge to edge; detail summary cards carry a soft glow.
■ Easier-to-read home groups
- Each group, like TW or US stocks, gets its own rounded card with total, today's change and share at a glance.
- Tap the card header to collapse it; Orua remembers next time.
■ Clearer trend charts
- Tap or press and hold a chart to see that day's amount and change in a magnifier.
- Asset range now switches straight to history points, no scrolling to the bottom.
■ Creating tags, simplified
- The preview now sits at the top, and the selected color stands out.
- Adding a tag inside an item opens a small floating window, no page switch.
■ Smoother open and close
- Pages grow out of whatever you tap and shrink back when closed.
- Swipe down, tap the grabber, or scroll to the bottom and keep pulling up.
In this release I went back over nearly every button and every open and close, so Orua feels more like an app built into the iPhone.

■ Other languages no longer break the layout
- In English, French, Japanese and Vietnamese, the settings menu and calculators no longer cut titles off with “…”; long titles wrap instead, and pills like Monthly / Weekly no longer split mid-word.
■ Layout for large text
- With Large or Extra Large text on narrower phones, the calculator parameter rows stack into two lines so numbers and labels stay intact; the two milestone cells now match in height.
- On small screens with Extra Large text, home category titles are no longer squeezed down to “Inv…”; the amount steps down in size to make room.
A small fix release that tidies up the other languages and the larger text sizes.

■ Bigger daily change calendar
- The calendar in Stats › Overview drops its card frame and gets bigger; ‹ › now sit together on the right, with a Today button whenever you leave the current month.
- Tap a day to see how many entries it has and jump straight to that day's history.
■ A rounder, glassier interface
- Cards, fields, buttons and pills now use continuous corners; corner buttons and period pickers use iOS 26 Liquid Glass.
- Expanded home categories become rounded cards; the save bar at the bottom of forms gets a frosted backdrop so content blurs behind it.
- All five palettes, light and dark, were tuned together.
■ Drag to switch periods and tabs
- The period, stats tab and investment sub-category pickers now work like the bottom tab bar: tap to glide, or press and drag the glass lens to switch.
■ Smoother scrolling and swiping
- Diagonal scrolling over an expanded investment list no longer sticks; swipe left to edit/delete and right to lock work as before.
- Sheets like Memos now dismiss when you pull down on the list, and pages can no longer be dragged sideways.
This version rounds off the whole app and retunes how scrolling and swiping feel.

■ New “Tools” in the main menu
- Tap the logo to open the main menu; “Tools” is now at the bottom, starting with a DCA calculator and a lump sum calculator.
- More calculators will follow. Tell me which tools you'd like under Settings › About.
■ Morandi palettes
- Settings › Appearance now has “Palette”: Morandi Grey, Blue, Pink and Green, each in light and dark.
- If you never touched appearance, everything looks exactly as before.
■ Large and Extra Large text, tidied up
- With text set to Large or Extra Large, layouts no longer break and numbers are no longer cut off.
- Small screens such as the iPhone SE are adjusted too.
This version opens the Tools entry and lets the app wear Morandi colours.

4.7 Sep 14
■ Record a payment with one button
- The bottom of receivable and liability details is now a clear “Record a collection / Record a repayment” button that opens a half-height form: amount, date and note in one go.
- Entering more than the remaining balance still asks first, then settles automatically — same as before.
■ Swipe actions, just like Notes
- Every row's left and right swipes now show round capsule buttons that grow with your finger.
- Pull all the way and release to run the action, with haptic feedback; delete still asks for confirmation.
■ Exchange rates without the long tail
- Rates in transfers, purchase deductions, sale deposits and Settings now show 5 significant digits, e.g. 32.153 or 0.031101.
- “Apply market rate” and lot-editing prefill are just as tidy; rates you've already saved are left untouched.
■ Date pickers now have a Done button
- Every date field opens a calendar sheet — pick a day and tap Done at the bottom right, no more guessing how to close it.
- Fields with a time (cash account records) adjust the time right under the calendar.
■ A leaner add-holding form
- The cost currency moved next to the purchase price, so the form is one section shorter.
- Buying in the market's own currency (US stocks in USD, TW stocks in TWD) no longer shows a “today's rate” line — just a live preview in your base currency, and no rate is stored for you.
■ Fixes & polish
- Home rows drop the index number and give amounts room from the card edge; with large share counts or prices, the share/price line is no longer shrunk.
- The keyboard-dismiss handle no longer floats mid-air on the half-height payment form.
- The recurring setup sheet opens at 80% height instead of leaving a big empty area below.
This version smooths out the two things you do most: recording money is easy to find, and a swipe is all it takes to delete.

Sales are now editable
- Tap any sale in the position sheet's sale history, or in Stats → Realized detail, to change its price, sale expenses, purchase cost, date or note.
- Sold without a cost? Fill it in and the sale counts toward realized P&L.
- Only that record changes — deducted shares and cash already deposited stay as they are.
Fees and tax on purchases too
- When adding a holding or a lot, the expense section now matches sales: separate fee and tax fields, with tax as a percentage if you like.
- If you deduct from a cash account, expenses are deducted together — no extra switch.
- Expenses roll into cost and are allocated proportionally when you sell.
Realized P&L, nothing hidden
- When "By Symbol" has more than 10 holdings, the "N more not shown" line now expands the full list — tap again to collapse.
Fixes & polish
- Cash account history: adjustments can only change date and note (the amount was derived at the time); system records like sale deposits and opening balance can no longer have their type changed by mistake; negative adjustments no longer flip positive after editing.
- Transfer repayments on liabilities now match cash accounts and can't be edited from one side.
- Removed "Recompute from History" from the cash account menu; the history tab still prompts to recompute when the balance drifts.
4.5 Sep 8
Ask AI about a holding
- A new AI button in the position sheet sends this holding's cost, lots and P&L — prompt included — straight to ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity or Gemini.
- You see the full text before sending; only this one holding's data goes, never your total assets.
- Edit the prompt freely, or save it as your own template.
Realized P&L is now searchable
- A search bar at the bottom of Stats → Realized: type a name, symbol or note and all three cards focus on that one holding.
- Curious how one stock did month by month? Just search it.
Every sale, one tap away
- Tap any row in "By asset" to see each sale — date, shares, price and P&L.
- Swipe left to delete a record you got wrong.
Fixes & polish
- Fixed lot-row P&L display for precious metals (gram / tael records used to inflate the numbers).
- The app now stays in portrait — no more accidental rotation.
4.4 Sep 3
What's new:
■ iCloud sync, rebuilt
- Record on iPhone, open iPad — everything merges on its own. No more export / import
- Every holding, history point, tag and memo syncs individually; if both devices edit the same one, the later change wins
- Your data lives only in your own iCloud — no account, nothing kept on any server
■ The first time you open 4.3
- Your data moves to the new format automatically, usually in ten-odd seconds, right after a full local backup
- You'll see progress; if iCloud isn't reachable you can continue for now and it picks up later
- Using several devices? Update all of them — older versions can't see newly synced data
■ New phone or reinstall? No sweat
- Turn on sync on a new device and everything comes back within seconds, quotes included
- No more waiting for iCloud at launch — shown instantly; you'll be told clearly if iCloud storage is full
Hi everyone, it's been a while! I took a proper break and went to see the Nagaoka Fireworks in Japan (truly worth seeing in person). Next up: the features you've been suggesting, one by one — tell me anytime if something's off.

4.3 Aug 31
What's new:
■ Reorder however you like
- Long-press any item to reorder: drop on a row's edge to insert, or on its center to group
- Long-press a group card to move the whole group — groups and items mix freely
- Requires the "Default" sort in Settings → List & Sort; your ordering is backed up and synced
■ Repay debts in one transfer
- Transfers can now target liabilities: pay your credit card or loan straight from a bank account
- A "Pay off" shortcut fills in the remaining balance; paying in full settles it automatically
■ Wrong entry? Just delete it
- Swipe left in History to delete individual deposit, adjustment, repayment or transfer records
- The net-worth chart now lists its history points — remove spikes left by mistyped amounts
- Deleting clears only the record — account balances stay unchanged
■ Balance out of sync? One tap fixes it
- After editing or deleting history, an alignment card appears whenever the balance no longer matches the history total
- It shows the current balance, history total and difference — recompute and align in one tap
- The account Edit form no longer changes the balance directly: use "Adjust" so every change leaves a record
■ Smoother home scrolling
- Reworked how home rows are drawn — scrolling stays smooth with many holdings
4.2 Jul 25
Daily change at a glance
- New heat calendar in the Stats overview: every day's move, with the amount right in the cell
- Toggle between calendar and trend line on the same card; calendar is shown by default
- Net worth is now recorded more frequently in both the foreground and background, reducing gaps in the trend
P&L, in full detail
- Expandable P&L breakdown with Today and Total shown side by side; today's P&L remains visible when collapsed
- Expand to see each holding's daily and total P&L, then tap to jump directly to its position details
- Fixed today's P&L calculation for precious metals recorded in grams or taels
Onboarding tour, rebuilt
- Reduced to 6 steps: the three signature features, then you're in
- Side menus now slide out in a live demo, with highlights pointing to the exact areas on screen
Polish, all around
- Rebuilt drag-to-reorder for faster pickup and smoother movement
- Smarter compact number formatting: K starts at 1,000 (1.6K), with cleaner values like 3.4M
- Updated the light mode gain/loss green to a calmer forest green
- Fixed sold-out holdings still appearing in the missing-cost list
4.1 Jul 20
What's new:
■ More reliable selling
- Very small holdings (like 0.00008 of a coin) can now be fully sold — rounding no longer blocks the sale
- "Use market price" no longer zeroes out low-priced coins; editing amounts and rates won't silently round them
- Sale proceeds now default to "no deposit" — pick an account only when you want the cash recorded
■ Funds, one less step
- Cost currency now follows the fund's own currency automatically — locked, no manual picking, no mistakes
■ Smarter compact display
- In compact mode, values from 1,000 up are abbreviated (4,770 → 4.8K) across Home and Stats; under 1,000 stays as is
4.0.3 Jul 18
What's new:
■ Smarter tag totals
- Buying in batches with different tags? Each tag now counts only its own lots — no more whole-position mixing
- New "Holding tags" in position details: file the entire holding under a tag in one tap, change anytime
- Fixed unit conversion for precious-metal lots in Tags and Locked
■ Cleaner numbers
- Shares, prices and FX rates drop trailing zeros: 0.1 shows as 0.1, not 0.1000
- Fund names on Home now match the text size of other rows
4.0.2 Jul 17
What's new:
■ Clearer fund display
- Full fund names now wrap instead of truncating — share classes (Acc/Dist, currency) are easy to tell apart
- The fund picker shows the name first with the code below; applied across Home, lists, Tags and Locked
- Tag details also show the number of units held

4.0.1 Jul 15
What's new:
• Funds are here — search onshore & offshore funds in one place, with daily NAV updates; foreign-currency funds auto-convert to your base currency
• Smoother search — history and symbol search bars moved to the bottom, easier one-handed
• Amount adjustments — editing a liability/receivable principal now keeps an "old → new" audit trail
• Recurring plans upgraded — stepped amounts, total installment caps; liquid assets support recurring deposits/withdrawals
• Fix — net worth now updates immediately after editing liability/receivable amounts
• Multi-device data protection — data from a newer app version becomes read-only, never overwritten
4 Jul 14
• All-new main menu: it's now a full page — your home screen slides right to reveal it, tab bar and all. Swipe right from the left edge to pull it out; swipe left or tap the right side to close. Tags, Locked, Statistics, History and Memos, all at a glance.
• Battle cards: two new share cards — a bold day/total-return card for a single ticker, or your whole book on one image. Three faces (Obsidian, Ticket, Soft) follow light/dark mode, with all-new numeric typography and charts. Toggle day/total and sort order, stablecoins are skipped, and quantities and amounts stay masked by default.
• Statistics, redesigned: reorganized into four tabs — Overview, Allocation, P/L and Realized — your whole financial picture at a glance. The balance sheet shows amounts, share of total and 30-day change for all five categories, with liabilities and net worth. Press and hold on trend, monthly and allocation charts to read exact dates and values.
• Net worth report + PDF export: expand the balance sheet into a full net worth report — line-by-line detail, subtotals by market, locked items clearly tagged — and export to PDF in one tap.
• Annualized return (XIRR): a money-weighted annualized return in P/L. +22% over two months means something very different from two years, and XIRR shows your true pace.
• Interface polish: corner buttons are unified across the app, sheets gain a drag indicator, and pickers use native glass. Home no longer auto-expands Investments on launch.
• More realistic interest: daily accrual (actual/365) everywhere, and the confusing compound/simple switch is gone — compounding happens naturally as payouts land.
3.11 Jul 11
• Group your assets — long-press and drag one asset onto another to create a group; drop onto a group to join it, drag onto the zone below to remove, and long-press the header to rename or disband. Works across all five categories, investments can even mix markets (e.g. 0050 + VOO), with a subtotal per group.
• Memos are here: feels just like Apple Notes — swipe right to pin, left to delete, add tags, all synced with iCloud and backups. Find them in the main menu.
• Sort your tags: tap "Sort" on the Tags page and drag rows to reorder — the new order follows everywhere.
• Fixed the side menu not updating after switching languages, and not closing by swipe.
3.10 Jul 7
• Pay for investment buys straight from a liquid account — record the purchase and cash flow in one step, with a live preview of balance and position changes.
• Vietnamese Dong & stocks added: keep books in VND and track Vietnamese listed stocks (VNM, FPT, VIC…).
• Fixed the side menu not closing by swipe after returning from another app, plus stability improvements.
