Recordings now survive interruptions. Luminessa saves as you go, so if the app closes or crashes mid-take, everything but the last second or so comes back as a clip the next time you open it. Sharper video with film grain. Recording now uses HEVC at every quality, and 1080p gets more headroom, so grain and fine texture stay crisp instead of turning blocky. Running low on storage? Luminessa now warns you while you record and stops safely, with your clip saved, before space runs out — and tells you up front if there is too little room to start. Luminessa watches your iPhone's temperature. When it gets hot, the live preview eases off first so your recording keeps its full quality, and you are told when it happens. Also: smoother autofocus while recording, photos that keep their full resolution after you flip cameras, and a first recording that starts faster.

The camera now fits larger windows. On a wide or tall display the shutter and tools sit at the edges; when the toolbar is tight, library, studio, and clips fold into Camera Menu instead of falling off the screen. Pick a photo and shoot that look. Open Shoot This Look beside the LUT strip, choose a reference, and Luminessa offers Natural, Balanced, and Expressive interpretations you can apply before you capture — then save in My Looks. Photo mode keeps a sharp viewfinder. Switching from video no longer softens the preview you frame with. Auto-focus keeps working after you change modes or recording quality, including 1080p to 4K.

Your photos keep their details. Captures now hold onto EXIF: lens, exposure, ISO, shot time, and the look you used, plus location when you turn it on. Saved looks now remember your grade, so recalling one brings back the whole picture — colour and all. On iPhone 16 and later, turn the Camera Control to change looks without leaving the viewfinder. New four-frame booth strip in the grid composer, for the photo-strip layout people actually post.

Look Studio: bring any photo or video from your library into your looks. Try every look on your own shot before you decide, adjust it, then save a graded copy — the original is never touched. Colour: Temperature and Tint plus a six-band colour mixer for reds through magentas, in the camera and in Look Studio. Highlights now hold their detail instead of blocking up under a strong look. (Pro) Sound: stereo capture on supported iPhones, 48 kHz at a much higher bitrate, a microphone that turns with the picture so left and right always match, a live level meter while you record, and a warning when a connected mic can only record at call quality. Shooting: pause and resume inside a single clip, press and hold to lock exposure and focus while you recompose, and long takes no longer end when the screen would have dimmed.

Luminessa 2.3 puts real color control in the viewfinder. New Temperature and Tint sliders grade on top of any LUT — live in the preview and in everything you export (Pro). Press and hold the frame to lock exposure and focus while you recompose, and long takes no longer end when the screen would have dimmed.

Luminessa 2.2 adds four new cinematic LUTs: Daybreak, Harbor, Desert Rose, and Moonstone. Looks are easier to discover and revisit, favorites stay up front with their own intensity, and developed-roll notifications now open directly in Darkroom.

Luminessa 2.1 is all about speed: much lower memory use after every capture, a smoother selfie preview, cooler and steadier 4K recording, and a snappier Looks strip.

Luminessa 2.0 adds Film Rolls and Darkroom. Group each shooting session into a roll, review and curate shots in a dedicated darkroom, then share your best frames with the new 3-day Pro trial after first capture.

Luminessa 1.9 closes the capture loop. Your latest photo or clip appears beside the shutter for quick review and sharing, photos get a clearer shutter-flash confirmation, and preview rendering is tuned for closer parity with exports.

Luminessa 1.8 completes the secondary film cues for the newest packs. VHS now adds RGB chroma fringe and a tape-style timecode, while Peel-Apart film gains an uneven chemical-bleed edge. Preview, photo export, and video rendering now share these cues more consistently.

Luminessa 1.7 makes live preview and saved media match more closely. Composition guide crops now carry through preview, photos, and video; face-aware selfie smoothing is preserved in exports; front-camera focus and mirroring are more accurate; and interrupted recordings are handled more safely. This update also tightens self-timer and capture reliability.

Luminessa 1.6 adds new film character controls for Pro creators—grain, vignette, halation, light leaks, dust, and a retro date stamp—that preview live and carry through to exports. A new selfie touchup smooths skin in real time. This update also expands the built-in look library with more cinematic LUTs and continues refining capture performance.

Luminessa 1.5 polishes the everyday shooting experience. The live preview is noticeably smoother while you browse LUTs, the front camera now mirrors naturally for selfies, and saving a clip to Photos shows a clear confirmation. Rounded out with performance and stability refinements throughout.

Luminessa 1.4 brings feature enhancements for smoother creative capture, including improved video rendering performance and a more polished recording workflow. New capture quality controls let you choose 1080p or 4K and 30 or 60 fps where supported, with export settings tuned for the selected mode.
