A smoother start. Setting up with Apple Health is simpler, signing in with Apple or Google before you have an account now guides you to set up your plan, and notification prompts wait until after your account is created.

Ingredient edits now keep your updated portions when you save meals entered with Describe meal, instead of reverting to the original description.

A clearer view of your day. • Fasting brings your timer, progress, insights and history onto one page. Once you pass your goal, the timer counts up instead of showing a negative time. • Today and Your foods stay within reach while you scroll through Meals. • Activity brings your daily totals and timeline together, with workout types in a row you can swipe. • Edit your profile or open Settings directly from the top of Profile.

Write to the Founder. A new row in Settings sends a message straight to the person who built the app, with a reply within 24 hours. The app may also ask once in a while, never more than once a week. Settings is now a page with an area for each topic: account, backup, health sources, morning check-in, reminders, data export, analytics and about. The morning check-in on Insights is a one-line banner with your last forty mornings drawn as a hairline. Fixed a crash a few seconds after opening the app while meal photos were being tidied up in the background.

We have refreshed our App Store description and screenshots to make it easier to explore fasting, food logging, sleep and activity tracking. This update does not change how the app works.

Version 1.1 makes the numbers you see more honest, especially around workouts and recovery. OVERNIGHT VITALS • Resting heart rate now comes from your own sleeping heart rate. It is ready when you wake instead of arriving hours later, and it no longer changes during the day. • Day Strain starts building from the moment you wake. LIVE WORKOUTS • Distance keeps tracking with your phone in your pocket. It used to stop when the screen locked, so a long walk could finish showing a few metres. • Calories and heart rate zones now use the weight, age and sex you entered at setup, instead of assuming a 70 kg, 30 year old man. • Heart rate zones use your own resting heart rate even before Apple Health has published one. • The "GPS is weak" note is no longer hidden behind the heart rate tip. • Workouts you start in the app are labelled as yours, not "Apple Health". WORKOUTS AND INSIGHTS • A walk recorded by both Apple Health and Google Health now appears once, not twice. • Session insights no longer contradict themselves. An easy pace with a high heart rate is named as the one thing it means. • Kai's note on a workout screen now talks about the workout, and his cards refresh when his coaching is updated. FITNESS AGE • Twelve weeks of your Fitness Age as a line, with your actual age marked. • Every driver shows what it is and what it should be, in your own numbers. • Clearer advice on which heart rate to train at, and a fix to the "reaching your cardio target" estimate, which was several years too optimistic. SCORING • Eating far below your calorie target is no longer rated as a good day. Your target already includes the deficit. • Day Load decides which hours were exercise from how much you moved, not heart rate alone, so a stressful morning or a fever no longer vanishes from the score.
