Smoother, with no stutters. What we fixed: • Moving the chart feels lighter: the crosshair works out its reference without slowing the drag. • With many AIS vessels around, the chart is no longer redrawn in full with every message. • Coastline points are no longer repainted on every map movement. • Ports, rocks and beaches are no longer re-filtered every time you move the chart. • The coastline loads at startup without slowing the screen. • The cloud and rain forecast is prepared in the background without taking smoothness from the chart. • Auto-routing is calculated without blocking the screen. • Less work on every GPS fix, including while navigating. • Less battery: the «More» diagnostics only run while you are on that tab.

NEW BOTTOM BAR: CHART · FAVOURITES · PLAN · WEATHER · MORE • Along the edge, with five tabs. The one you are on is marked with a capsule and everything reads well in the sun; with night vision, the bar turns dark and red. • Plan is for your Routes. Weather gathers the TODAY card, the forecast, tides and fishing, which used to be tucked away inside «More». • While you follow a route, the bar folds into a «⌃ Menu» strip to give you more chart: tap it and it comes back. GO OUT TODAY? • At the top of the forecast and on the TODAY card, GeoSea tells you in words whether it is a good day for a small boat, until what time or from when, looking at the daylight left. • Fine up to 15 knots and 1.25 m waves; don't go out above 21 knots or 2 m waves. In green, amber or red, readable in the sun. • The line on the TODAY card is free. And with no wind forecast it doesn't gamble: it says so. NAVIGATE A ROUTE • Tap «Navigate this route» and the chart guides you point by point: which point you are heading for, distance, course, arrival time and how far you have drifted to port or starboard. • On reaching a point it moves on to the next one by itself and tells you out loud. It also shows with the panel folded away, and the route stays active even if you close the app. • Route points can have names («Puerto de Mogán»): they appear in the legs, on the maps, in the guide, in the voice and in the GPX you export. • On the route's page you pick the departure day and time, and each leg tells you when you arrive, what wind and waves you will meet and whether they are behind you, on the beam or on the nose. A CLEANER CHART • With the top panel folded away, a large instrument bar: speed, course, depth and wind. Long-press a box to swap it for another (tide, distance to shore, AIS vessels…). • With no sounder or wind instrument connected, it shows the chart depth and the forecast wind, marked «≈» so you know they are estimates. • Every layer on one sheet: base map, weather on the chart, nautical information, what you want to see and night vision. • New «Tools» button: every map button in one tray; pin the ones you want always at hand. SAFETY • The Man Overboard button is always at hand, also with the left panel hidden and before any zone is downloaded. • If your licence limit can't be checked because the zone is missing, the warning now has a «Download this zone» button. ON APPLE WATCH • The fishing headline is in the watch's language and counts down live. • The Premium badge no longer covers the last line of the cards or the − and + buttons. • The red dragging ring goes away once you silence it and weigh anchor. FIXES • The base map you choose is remembered when you close the app. • The top panel starts at the edge of the screen, with alarms drawn over it. • The estimated depth under the cross can no longer come from somewhere else. • If the port lookup for a zone fails, it says so and retries by itself. • Numbers and distances in your language's format, and more text translated. • On iPad, the route guide, the instrument bar and the next 7 fishing days use the full width.

REAL TIDES • Outside the Canaries, high and low water times now come from real tide gauges, more than 2,200 around the world. Before, they could be several hours out. The Canaries keep their calibrated ports. • Where spring tides stay under 50 cm, as in most of the Mediterranean, you will see «Negligible tide» with the day's range; and with no tide gauge nearby, «No tide data here»: better that than making it up. • The Tide table tells what has already happened in the past tense and what is still to come in the future, and shows whether the water is rising or falling right now, how long until the next high or low water and how much daylight you have left. • Looking at another day, it no longer talks about «today»: water and swell say which day and time the data is from, and a day with no swell forecast says so. • The Tide table, Solunar, Fishing spots and the Marine forecast, which partly came out in Spanish, are now in English. DOWNLOADS THAT FINISH THEMSELVES • If a zone download is cut off because you lose signal or close the app, GeoSea finishes it by itself, in the background too, and only fetches what is missing. • The stale-zone warning names the zone and says what bringing it up to date will cost («approx. 15 KB and 3 s») before you tap. • The «Download the area» button on the cross now opens the download box right where the cross is. CLEARER ALARMS • The limit alarm for your boating qualification only says you are outside the limit when your downloaded data proves it; otherwise you will see «Limit not verified» and what you still need to download. • The reason for each alarm appears in a box, with what to do underneath in bold. • «ACTIVATE ALARM» lifts the general mute and really sounds. • During an alarm or a man overboard, no Premium bubble, subscription screen or full-screen ad appears. • The man overboard alert is never covered any more: notices step aside while it lasts. • Notices that only inform can be dismissed with one tap; real alarms cannot. ON THE WATCH • Your wrist always shows the most serious alarm, with the full reason and what to do. • Muting on the watch silences only the alarm that is sounding, and no longer leaves the whole red screen: it folds into a ribbon at the top that opens with one tap. • When «zone needs refreshing» comes up, the watch has the same button as the iPhone to bring it up to date. • In standalone mode, its GPS only switches on when the iPhone stops responding: better battery life. CHART AND MAP • In US waters the official chart is now NOAA's, with soundings, buoys and lights. • The «Dark» map works again, and satellite and hybrid are now Apple's. • The cross labels have no background so you can see the chart (you can change it in Settings). • The side button panels hide when you swipe them towards their edge. • AIS across the Mediterranean: Balearics, Sardinia, Sicily, the Adriatic and the Aegean. MORE COMFORTABLE • The Marine forecast calls the place by its name («3.2 nm from Agaete»), and you choose whether it follows the cross or a fixed point. • The forecast's sea state follows the official Douglas scale: it used to read one step low. • If the forecast doesn't respond, water and swell still show, and missing data shows «—» instead of a made-up 0. • New «Text size» in Settings, to read GeoSea in full sun. • A GPS jump no longer reads millions of knots or adds fake miles to your passages. • With the chart still, the app uses less battery.

EVERYTHING THAT WARNS YOU, IN ONE PANEL • Dragging, depth, a hazard nearby, a vessel on a crossing course, losing GPS or going past your licence limit: it all now appears in the same big panel at the top. Before, each one warned in its own way and you had to learn where each one looked. • And every warning says WHAT TO DO, not just what is happening: with no GPS, go on deck and check the precise location permission; outside the limit, head back towards the coast; with vessels crossing, confirm it visually, because AIS only sees those who carry it switched on. • Silencing stops the sound, but the warning stays on screen with a button to give it its voice back. Anything that isn't urgent comes in as a thin ribbon that doesn't cover the chart. AN ANCHOR WATCH YOU CAN TRUST • It throws out fixes with more than 50 metres of error: with poor reception they wandered and the alarm went off without the boat having moved. If it is left blind, it tells you instead of going quiet. • It obeys «Alarm type»: if you chose vibration only, it doesn't sound; if you chose sound only, it doesn't vibrate. • Weighing anchor asks for confirmation, and the dragging radius can be changed with the anchor already down: pay out more chain, raise the number and the circle grows at once. AIS THAT TELLS THE TRUTH • Stored vessels are no longer shown as if they were current: each one carries the age of its data and, if the connection drops, the app says so. • «AIS radius» really filters, and turning AIS off turns it off completely: before it stayed connected in the background, spending battery and data. SETTINGS THAT MAKE SENSE • Simple mode out of the box: fifteen cards with what gets used, and the rest one tap away in Advanced. There were fifty and you had to dig. • Your licence is the first thing you see. READABLE IN FULL SUN • Texts and warnings reviewed by measuring real contrast, not by eye: the ones that fell short have been raised until they read with glare on them. • And numbers are written in your language, not the phone's. Coordinates always use a dot, deliberately: with a comma there is no reading them out over the radio. MARKING A SPOT, MADE EASY • A new «Point of interest» pill, on any of the four sides of the cross: it opens a panel with everything you can drop there —favourite, note, rock, shoal, wreck, obstruction— and the exact coordinate in plain sight. • And the chart's points now introduce themselves when you tap them: harbours, beaches, rocks, fishing spots. Before, nothing happened. YOUR ZONE, UP TO DATE • If a zone's data has gone stale, the app warns you and the button that fixes it is INSIDE the warning: it completes the bathymetry and fetches the new forecast without going to Settings. • A large download no longer takes the session down with it, and if it is left unfinished it says so. ALERT WHEN A VESSEL COMES CLOSE • You choose how many kilometres away it should trigger. It isn't the collision alert, which looks at whether you will cross and stays quiet if you are stopped: this one warns even if you are both still, which is exactly what you want at anchor at night. And it reaches the watch too. THE WATCH • When you mark a spot from your wrist you can name it right there, typed or dictated. • Night vision, settings rebuilt and the chart telling you how to move around. AND MORE FIXES • Landscape: panels no longer overflow or eat the data strip. • Prices in your currency, read from the store. • Finer tides for the Canaries and the monthly table fixed. COAST AND HARBORS, BEYOND SPAIN • Harbors and the coastline now come from GeoSea's own server for sixteen more countries, from France and Italy to Morocco, Egypt and South Africa: they arrive sooner and are still there when the public map service goes down. • Fixed the harbors missing where two countries meet: Vigo showed 5 of the 1549 it has.

GEOSEA ON YOUR WATCH • Speed, heading, depth and tide at a glance on your wrist, without pulling out your phone. Four screens you swipe through: navigation, tide, anchor and fishing. • The watch chart mirrors the phone's: your downloaded area, favourites, route, track and fishing spots, with the same icons. • From the watch itself: mark Man Overboard, save a waypoint and feel it on your wrist if the boat starts dragging. • And you now choose WHAT its chart shows: ships (AIS), favourites, hazards, route and fishing spots, each with its own switch. • Settings rebuilt: language and reference point are picked from a full-screen list with large rows. The place name is now the same on all four pages. WITHOUT THE PHONE NEARBY (optional) • If you leave the phone behind or it runs out of battery, the watch turns on ITS OWN GPS and keeps giving you position, speed and heading. • It keeps watching your anchorage and warns you of dragging, working it out on your wrist. • It ships off and tells you what it costs: battery goes from days to a few hours. • And the refresh button really refreshes: if the watch has a SIM and the phone is not around, it fetches the wave height, the water temperature and the AIS ships over its own connection. Only when you press it, to save battery; the tide it works out on its own, with no network. ALARMS YOU CAN UNDERSTAND • If something sounds, a panel appears saying what is happening and what to do, with mute one tap away. It minimises, but does not close while the warning stands. • What you mute on the watch is muted on the phone, and the other way round. • AIS collision risk is no longer just a voice: it shows in the panel and on the watch, with how many ships and how close the nearest one passes. • New alert when an AIS vessel comes closer than the distance you choose: it sounds on the watch and on the phone, and you set it from the watch for both. It is not the collision one: this warns even if you are both stopped, which is what you want anchored at night. FINER TIDES • On spring tides the model fell short in the Canary ports without their own gauge. In Agaete the error drops from 22 to 6 centimetres. • The monthly table drew heights two and a half metres too low, so high waters came out negative. Fixed. • A dial with a needle shows at a glance whether the tide is rising or falling, on the watch, in the widgets and inside the app. EASIER TO USE • The «i» button on the panels was the worst touch target in the app; it is now a wide tab with an arrow showing where the information goes. • Landscape fixed: the panels spilled over the top and the upper curtain left its handle off screen. • The three shortcut fans start with different shortcuts, none repeated. • Prices are read from the store, so you see them in your own currency wherever you are. SIX LANGUAGES, AND NO LICENCE NEEDED • GeoSea now speaks Spanish, English, French, German, Italian and Portuguese, fully translated, including both watch apps. • You can choose «No licence»: no circle around your position and no limit alarm. The licences are still there for whoever wants them. FIXED • In the route creator the SAVE button was covered by the map and there was no way to save a route. • The Premium bubble stole taps far from where it appears. • Permissions were asked in English to people whose phone was in Spanish. • A self-detected anchorage is no longer lost, and if the phone loses GPS the watch says so instead of showing a stale position.

Home screen widgets GeoSea now works outside the app. Four new widgets: - Tide: current sea height with its trend, today's high and low tides, and the tidal range. - Best fishing day: today's solunar score, best time window and best day of the week. - Marine weather: wind and gusts, wave height and water temperature. - Today's solunar: moon phase, sunrise and sunset, moonrise and moonset. Each one shows in a corner the spot its data comes from: the nearest fishing spot, or one you pin yourself. Make them yours - Choose what each widget shows by ticking the data you care about. - Change the colour: quick swatches plus hue and brightness controls for any colour you want. Text adjusts its own contrast, light backgrounds included. - Resize them. The bigger the widget, the bigger the type. New More > Widgets section Set everything up there and preview how each widget will look before placing it. AIS collision alarm You can now fine-tune the warning distance and time with sliders.
