What's New? iOS 1.9.0 New languages and more reliable recording. - Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Hindi. Choose a language in Settings or during initial setup, and Vays will automatically select the multilingual NVIDIA Nemotron speech model, around 650 MB and fully offline. Speaker separation works in these languages too. - Recording in the car is now much more resilient. Following the fix in 1.8.5, Vays can now wait through longer microphone interruptions, such as navigation prompts or longer phone calls, and resume recording automatically. - New speech engine: 28% faster in our benchmark, with no more stray characters in short Polish utterances. - Lighter speaker recognition. The new speaker model is more than 50% smaller and uses much less memory. It will download again the first time you use it. - Settings now tell you what's actually happening. A new "Active Engine" row shows which model is transcribing the selected language, and download buttons show the correct model name. - Notes with no detected speech now say so clearly instead of showing an empty row. The audio is always kept for playback. - After updating, you'll see a short "What's New" screen once, without blocking anything.

An update focused on recording reliability. • Notifications and calls no longer interrupt recordings. Vays now resumes recording automatically, including when using CarPlay. • Apple Watch now clearly tells you if the system cannot access the microphone instead of showing a recording that is not actually capturing audio. • The Activity Log now tracks processing progress and can show which stage was reached before something went wrong. • Fixed the expired Discord support link. If something is not working, send us the Activity Log from Settings. It does not contain your recordings or transcripts, and it now provides much more useful diagnostic information.

A major recording-reliability update. • Recording now resumes automatically after a phone call, Siri, or an alarm. When resuming isn’t possible, everything captured is saved and we tell you clearly. • The timer no longer resets to 0:00 after an interruption and now shows the duration of the entire session. • The live transcript preview no longer freezes after a few seconds. It also tells you when it has been temporarily paused, for example because the device is warm. • Playing memos, using voice chat, and running Shortcuts can no longer disturb an active recording. • Quick Tasks: the 30-second limit now works correctly in the background too. • Better memory management during long recordings means fewer unexpected stops, especially on older iPhones. • The Activity Log now captures the full recording lifecycle, including every interruption and its cause, making it easier to diagnose issues. • Minor bug fixes. As always, everything stays 100% on your device.

What’s new in this version: • Speaker recognition directly on iPhone The new “Find Speakers” action retranscribes a recording using the Parakeet model and identifies who said what. The entire process runs on your phone, as long as the recording is still stored on the device and the Parakeet model has been downloaded. • Send to Mac Send a recording to your paired Mac for full speaker recognition, with no four-speaker limit and support for merging and splitting speaker segments. The result is returned to your iPhone automatically. If your Mac is offline, the task waits in the queue. This feature requires the latest version of Vays for Mac (2.6.2) • Smarter default mode on less powerful iPhones On devices with less memory, the first launch now opens the faster and more stable Transcription mode instead of AI Memo, together with a short explanation. It shows the 3 most recent notes plus a “View all X notes” link, so it launches faster and puts less load on the phone There is also a new “Search memos” shortcut that takes you straight to Notes with the keyboard already open. Tags You can now mark notes with one or more tags. Use the suggested Private, Work, Personal tags or type your own. Filter chips above the list let you show only notes with a selected tag in one tap. Search now understands tags. Type “Work” and you will find every note with that tag, even if the word is not in the note body. Clearer dates Notes now show more natural dates, such as “Today · 14:32”, “Yesterday · 09:14”, “Mon · 14:32” or “20 May 2025”. It is easier to see when a recording was made without opening it. Lighter on the phone • The recording screen now adapts animations to the phone’s thermal state and Reduce Motion setting. When the device gets warmer, Vays lowers FPS and pauses background effects, leaving more power for recording. • Gemma analysis now uses fewer CPU cores, so the interface stays smoother while the model runs. • If the phone reaches a critical temperature, AI is skipped. Vays saves the transcript only, and you can finish the analysis later from the note.
