Open supported Google directions in Apple Maps from Safari.
Search Google in Safari, find a supported business result with a complete U.S. street address, and tap its Directions button. After you enable the MapShift extension, allow website access and choose automatic opening, MapShift can pass that address to Apple Maps without copying, pasting or manually converting the link.
START WITH SAFARI
• Follow the in-app Safari setup and website-permission instructions.
• Turn on Open automatically, or keep MapShift's review step before opening.
• MapShift briefly appears during the handoff. iOS may separately ask permission to open another app.
• Allow other websites individually if you also want to handle supported Google Maps links found there.
KEEP THE DESTINATION
For supported business cards, MapShift checks the selected card's full address against the Directions link. It opens directions to that street address; it does not promise the same business entrance or Google place pin.
Supported full links can also preserve explicit coordinates, origins, ordered driving stops and travel modes where Apple Maps and your iOS version support them. When the source uses current location instead of a fixed origin, Apple Maps chooses its own starting location. Approximate place searches require review. Unsupported route details are not silently discarded.
KNOW THE LIMITS
Only some Google Search business-card formats provide the information needed for this workflow. A name, incomplete address or street range is not enough. Ambiguous landmarks and unsupported Directions links continue in Google. Google can change its pages and links. MapShift does not transfer Google's route alternatives, live traffic or every routing option.
The extension runs in Safari on websites you allow. It does not intercept navigation inside native Google or Google Maps apps, Messages, or other browsers. A Messages link can bypass Safari. Opening a link in Safari by itself does not trigger conversion; the extension handles supported taps on allowed pages. Short links may first need to reveal a full supported URL. New-tab actions keep their normal behavior. Some route features require iOS 18.4 or later.
A MANUAL FALLBACK WHEN NEEDED
Expand Paste or convert a link on Home to paste a full map link or text containing one. Review the result, open Apple Maps or copy the converted link. The Share extension offers review and copy controls. Recent conversions remain available, with confirmation before clearing history.
Conversion happens on your device. No MapShift account is needed. Google searches and links opened in Apple Maps use those services. Privacy information in the app explains local history and the temporary information used for Safari handoffs.
Updated the “Try a Google search” example and Safari setup guidance to use Chickasaw Nation Headquarters in Ada, Oklahoma.
