For vibe coders who want to understand AI-generated code, Lt. Dex and the scout bees analyze your project as an operations map. Discover hidden reactions and Easter eggs.
KaninDex is a code information analysis app for vibe coders who want to understand code generated by AI.
When a project has too many code files and it is hard to know where to begin, KaninDex organizes the project as an operations map. Lt. Dex and the scout bees recon the code battlefield, analyze files, functions, classes, variables, relationships, risk points, and execution flow, then organize the results into a wiki-like operations report.
Select a project folder, then choose a reconnaissance mode. You can use Initial Recon to get a quick view of the overall structure, Area Recon to focus on a specific file or folder, Zone Recon to inspect the full project in depth, Route Recon to trace execution flow, Force Recon to track dependencies and impact scope, and Special Recon to examine hidden structures and high-risk code.
KaninDex also includes small operations-room gimmicks. Lt. Dex is not an assistant who simply repeats the same lines. Depending on the analysis situation, report status, and his mood for the day, he may react a little differently. In the communications room, you may also see Lt. Dex and the scout bees exchanging short bits of operational chatter. Under certain conditions, hidden lines and small Easter eggs may appear. If Lt. Dex is in an exceptionally good mood, you might even encounter a special event that is not usually visible. These reactions and events are presentation elements that add atmosphere to the app. The code analysis results and operations report do not change based on Lt. Dex’s mood or communications-room chatter. Even within the rigid flow of code analysis, KaninDex is designed to make the process of understanding a project feel a little more enjoyable.
KaninDex is designed to help users who are not professional developers understand AI-generated code more easily. It helps answer questions such as:
What does this file do?
Where is this function connected?
Which parts look risky?
What is the execution flow of this feature?
What should I check before asking AI to make the next change?
You can also ask Lt. Dex questions based on the generated operations report. Instead of only giving general development knowledge, he summarizes the key points like an operations officer, using the current project report and code context.
KaninDex supports Korean, English, French, Spanish, German, and Japanese. Users can follow the app flow more comfortably in their own language, and generated operations reports can be translated into the selected language by Sgt. Tori, the interpreter. This helps users in different language environments review the code situation, file structure, function relationships, risk points, and execution flow in a language familiar to them.
KaninDex follows a local-first workflow. When using a local LLM, analysis can be performed on the device as much as possible. When using an external LLM or API, the app is designed to inform users that project context may be sent outside the device and request consent.
KaninDex does not replace professional code review. Instead, it provides a command operation that helps vibe coders understand the code situation, grasp the structure, and check risk points before giving AI the next instruction.
If you experience any inconvenience or have ideas for improvement, please let me know anytime. I will review them carefully and reflect them as quickly as possible.

KaninDex 2.0
We've improved analysis, report browsing, and the Mac experience to help you better understand the code your AI creates.
• Improved Apple Intelligence integration
Project questions make better use of context and reference material, with improvements to prevent duplicated response text.
• Get started without AI setup
Explore the sample project or start with basic analysis of your own project. Connect AI when you need it.
• Reports first, AI explanations next
Read basic reports while AI explanations are added. Stopping explanation generation keeps your basic results, and you can retry only the explanations that failed.
• Focus on reading
The new Reading focus mode hides characters and decorative effects. Your reading position stays in place when new messages arrive while you're browsing earlier conversations.
• Clearer analysis information
See which files were fully or partially read, which could not be read, and which were excluded. Risk markers and inferred code relationships are also explained more clearly.
• Familiar Mac windows and shortcuts
Settings, question, and information windows now use standard macOS traffic-light controls. We've also added keyboard shortcuts for key features.
• More efficient processing
We've reduced duplicate work in search, file analysis, report generation, and conversation handling.
Requires macOS 27.0 or later and a Mac with Apple silicon.
Starting with version 2.0, Intel-based Macs are no longer supported.
