RotorReady
Helicopter Training Aid
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
RotorReady is a training and reference app for professional helicopter pilots, students and instructors, built from the manufacturers' flight manuals and checklists.
Thirteen aircraft types: AW109E, AW139, AW169 (Standard and EP), AW189, S-92, H135 T3, H145 D2, H145 D3, AS350 B3 (2B1) and B3e, R22 and R44 II. Choose your type once; everything in the app follows it.
What you get:
- Quiz: limitations, systems, emergency and normal procedures, performance and air law, with explanations and manual references. Practice only the questions you got wrong.
- Quick Reference: the numbers and limits that matter, on one screen.
- System Notes: written deep-dives into each system.
- Procedures: take-off and landing profiles with the manual's figures, plus the emergency procedures on the single-engine types.
- Warning and caution lights trainer, and memory items straight from the checklist, for the types whose checklist has them.
- Audio: study podcasts you can download and listen to offline; more types are added over time.
- IFR and VFR rules (EASA) and small planning calculators.
- Messages: tell us what can be improved and get replies from the RotorReady team inside the app.
Everything is available offline once the app has been opened with a connection. Content is updated in the app without waiting for a new version.
No account is needed. RotorReady is free while in early access.
RotorReady is a training aid only. It is not approved operational documentation and does not replace the RFM, QRH, POH, your operator's procedures or your instructor. RotorReady is not affiliated with or endorsed by any manufacturer, operator or aviation authority.
more AW109E: a new Warning Messages trainer for the red EDU warning messages, and the warning light cards now show the verified procedure as clear text instead of a cropped manual page. The zoom hint on page images no longer covers the text. Security and stability updates.
1.0.29 2d ago
New aircraft type: the Leonardo AW109E. Quick Reference, System Notes, ten take-off, landing and engine-failure procedures with the RFM profile figures, a red warning lights trainer, abbreviations and a quiz of 365 questions, all built from the AW109E flight manual. Optional equipment such as the hoist, cargo hooks, EFIS and emergency floats is covered and always named, so you can see which content applies to your aircraft.
1.0.28 4d ago
Lights trainer: the R22 and R44 II now have a warning and caution lights trainer, built from each type's own POH.
IFR and VFR: every topic now opens with its key numbers, and both lists have a Quick tab.
Weather planning: Førde/Bringeland, Sogndal, Vardø, Rygge and Ørland are added.
Audio: when an episode cannot load because there is no connection, the player now says so; press play to try again once you are back online.
Fix: the quiz no longer crashes at the end of a round.
1.0.27 6d ago
Lights trainer: the AS350 B3 (2B1) and B3e caution and warning panel is now drawn as in the flight manual, with amber and red lamps, and fits the phone screen; before, the right-hand column was cut off.
Exam: the answer options now appear in a new random order for every question, as in the practice quiz.
Info: a new page behind the bell on the Home screen about early access, what is coming next and how the content is made. The privacy policy now says exactly what the app sends and how to have it deleted.
1.0.26 Oct 14
Lights trainer: the Audio button now appears for every aircraft type that has audio clips for its warning lights, starting with the AS350 B3e (ENG FIRE and HYDR).
Procedures: flight manual figures can be shown on every aircraft type, including the AS350 B3 and B3e, and every figure opens full screen with pinch and double-tap zoom.
1.0.25 Oct 12
Back buttons: every back button now says where it goes and takes you there, and going back to a list puts you where you were in it. Long pages have a Top button.
Aircraft types stay apart: a link to another type's page opens the same page for the type you have selected, so you never see another aircraft's content by accident.
Downloads: Settings now lists the audio saved on your phone, with its size. Remove one episode or all of them. Removing a download from the episode list now asks first.
Quiz: the flag dialog can be cancelled, a handed-in exam is closed, and question counts match what is in the quiz.
Procedures and Quick Reference: figures can be zoomed, Quick Reference is easier to read, and a page that cannot load says so instead of staying blank.
Lights trainer: a clear way back to the menu from every card.
1.0.24 Oct 11
Messages: the feedback screen is now a conversation with the RotorReady team. Our replies show up in the app, and a badge on the Messages button on Home tells you when one has arrived. You can write back, and leave an e-mail address if you also want replies by e-mail. Your conversation stays readable without a connection.
Flagged questions: when you flag a quiz question, we check it against the flight manual and answer you in Messages, with what we found, and what we changed if it needed fixing.
Quiz: a question taken down in one aircraft variant no longer disappears from the other variant too.
Lights trainer: QRH pages can now be zoomed properly. Pinch with two fingers, drag to move around, double-tap to zoom in where you tap, and Fit page to go back. The S-92 trainer is now called Master Warning Panel, as in the flight manual.
1.0.23 Oct 9
Procedures: take-off and landing cards now show the flight manual's profile figures next to the steps they belong to, for AW139, AW189, S-92, H135 T3 and H145 D2/D3. The AW169 procedure list now holds the take-off and landing procedures. On a phone, step numbers now sit beside their step instead of on a line of their own.
Lights trainer: AW189 memory items are now the steps the QRH boxes; S-92 drills from the emergency checklist, with long titles fitting the panel; an H135 T3 memory crop no longer shows part of the next procedure.
H135 T3, H145 D2 and H145 D3 content checked against each variant's flight manual: procedures, lights, memory items, Quick Reference, quizzes, System Notes and abbreviations.
Home: the Audio card no longer stays on screen as an empty placeholder for H135 T3 and H145 D2, and the procedure descriptions match what the lists now hold.
1.0.22 Oct 9
AS350 B3 2B1 and B3e lights trainer: the caution and warning panel is now drawn from the RFM (Section 7.3 Figure 1), with every caption in its printed place and colour.
Memory items: steps the manual prints without a number no longer show a stray dot.
AW189 and AS350 2B1/B3e content checked against the flight manuals: procedures, lights, memory items, Quick Reference, quizzes, System Notes and abbreviations, with many new System Notes for Section 7 and the supplements.
1.0.21 Oct 7
AW169 Single Engine Procedure: now includes the descent, approach and before-landing checks from the RFM.
AW169 procedures list: CAT A OEI procedures for both AW169 and AW169 EP, the EP rolling take-off procedures, and the Ground and Elevated Heliport/Helideck landing procedure, with titles as printed in the RFM.
AW169 content checked again against the RFM and QRH: procedures, lights, memory items, Quick Reference and the emergency and limitations quizzes.
1.0.20 Oct 7
Exam mode now starts in the app: Start exam opens the first question instead of returning to Home.
Exam mode: 40 mixed questions with a timer, answers shown at the end, and a pass mark of 75 %.
Progress per section on the quiz list, the section page, Home and Settings, kept per aircraft.
Practice wrong answers builds the set from everything you have answered wrong, and stays in the app.
Dark mode on black, and a cleaner look with one brand blue.
Emergency hub uses the same cards for every aircraft.
Weather says why the position is missing and opens Settings from the notice.
Ready for offline: every screen now says so when it cannot reach the content, with a Try again button, instead of showing "Loading" forever.
Quiz starts within a few seconds on a weak signal, and each quiz round is recorded once in your progress.
True Airspeed calculator: minus temperatures and negative pressure altitude can be entered on iPhone.
1.0.19 Sep 29
Fixed: the app would not open on iOS 27. This version starts normally again on every supported iPhone.
Weather planning and Airports now open inside the app instead of in Safari, and keep your selected aircraft.
S-92: the Emergency Procedures quiz now has 101 questions, each checked against the flight manual.
The separate "Download for offline" page is gone: all training content is already included in the app and kept up to date automatically.
If the app runs into a technical error, it now sends an anonymous crash report so the problem can be found and fixed quickly.
1.0.16 Sep 28
Quiz, lights and offline packages now always use the latest content.
S-92: 28 new Limitations questions, 48 in total, each checked against the flight manual.
New R22 episodes: Governor, Autorotation, Drive System and Limitations.
Fixed: titles on the Emergency & Malfunction screen that showed empty boxes on iPhone, home screen items that jumped into place while the page loaded, feedback sent from the app that failed with an error, and question counts on the quiz list — now shown and correct for every aircraft.
1.0.15 Sep 24
Emergency procedures and optional-equipment procedures for the H125 / AS350 B3 2B1 and B3e, laid out as one titled box per phase (Cruise, Hover IGE, Relighting…) with plain numbered steps. Both variants now cover training procedures, emergency floatation, hoist, external loads, bambi bucket, sand filter, AFCS and dual hydraulics.
The H125 / AS350 B3e is now built from its own manual: corrected engine, rotor, temperature and electrical limits in the Quick Reference and quiz, N1/N2/TOT terminology, 14 System Notes and new quiz sections for supplements and weight and balance.
Podcasts: eight new episodes for each H125 / AS350 variant, the first R22 episode, an AW169 Limitations episode, and rewritten AW169 TCAS II and R44 II Drive System episodes built from the manuals. Corrected details in the S-92 and AW169 EP episodes, and two episodes with confirmed errors were removed.
Corrected AW169 EP inter-turbine temperature limits in the Quick Reference. Weights in System Notes and Quick Reference now show kilograms first, with pounds in brackets.
Fixed the Home button on the procedure lists taking you back to the last procedure instead of the home screen.
1.0.14 Sep 20
Podcasts now keep playing when you lock the phone or put it in your pocket, with the episode and working play, pause and skip controls on the lock screen.
New AW169 EP episodes written from the flight manual: Limitations, Electrical and Fire Protection, each walked through as a sortie rather than listed system by system. The S-92 series is complete.
The Audio bar on the home screen now appears immediately instead of waiting on the network, and episode titles are shorter and easier to scan.
1.0.13 Sep 17
New study content now appears in the app as soon as it is published, without waiting for an app update: podcasts, procedures, system notes, quick reference numbers, quiz questions and IFR/VFR topics all refresh on their own.
Added the AW189 podcast series (warning lights and the full AFCS walkthrough) and re-recorded the AW169 EP episodes with a clearer voice. Added six IFR/VFR topics.
Everything still works offline. The app opens straight from the device and no longer waits on a slow connection before showing content you already have.
Fixes: corrected the AW189 weight limits to show which figures require the weight extension kit, removed two podcast episodes that had factual errors, restored a missing AW169 take-off profile diagram, and fixed a quiz question that had no correct answer.
1.0.12 Sep 14
Added the Robinson R22 as a full model (quick reference, procedures, abbreviations, calculations, and a 196-question quiz), plus new System Notes articles across several aircraft types. Fixed podcast episodes, light-warning audio, and offline downloads not loading correctly in the app. Security and stability updates.
1.0.11 Sep 12
Fixed the app not working when opened while offline (e.g. airplane mode) after being fully closed — downloaded podcasts and training content now work reliably again in that situation.
1.0.10 Sep 10
Fixed the app getting stuck showing outdated content after an update. Weather planning and Airports work again, and the back button works correctly when training on memory items in the Emergency & Malfunction trainer.
1.0.9 Sep 9
Added full iPad support — RotorReady now runs as a native iPad app instead of a scaled-up iPhone window. Also fixed the AW169 EP central warning panel trainer occasionally reverting to AW169 Standard when opening a light's procedure.
1.0.7 Sep 2
New: Audio section for deep-dive study podcasts you can listen to on the go, with playback speed control, resume-from-last-position, and 15-second skip forward/back buttons. Launch episodes cover AW169 AFCS logic and safety limits, AW169 EP engine/transmission digital limits and OEI operations, and S-92 AFCS logic plus electrical system architecture and emergencies — more models and topics to come. Also added Air Law and Performance quiz chapters to H135 T3, H145 D2/D3 and S-92, and expanded AFCS/Flight Control System coverage in Systems Description quizzes for AW169, H145 D2/D3 and S-92.
1.0.6 Jul 23
Added three new helicopter types with full training content: H135 T3, H145 D2 and H145 D3, each with Limitations/Emergency/Normal quizzes, Systems Description, Quick Reference, a Lights/CWP trainer and dedicated procedure pages. Their lights trainer now shows real Flight Manual page crops instead of plain text, their Procedures section now covers Normal Procedures alongside Emergency Procedures, and all three now have a Memory Items trainer for the immediate-action items only — joining S-92, which also gained Memory Items in this update. Fixed two AW139 quiz sections (Air Law, Avionics & FMS Limitations) that had stopped loading, and fixed the lights trainer's Home button needing multiple taps to work. Also expanded R44 II and H125/AS350 quiz content and added Quick Reference pages for AW139 and AW189.
1.0.5 Jul 14
dded a Sikorsky S-92 Quick Reference page and expanded S-92 quiz coverage. Quiz answer positions now shuffle every time, including when practicing previously missed questions, so you can't just memorize where the right answer sits. Cleaned up AW139 and AW189 emergency procedure cards for a clearer read, and added missing answer explanations to AW169 Avionics & FMS Limitations questions.
