Explain Quote is more dependable. • When Apple Intelligence declines to explain one of your own quotes, QuotesVault now asks again more simply, and if it still can't, says so in plain words instead of showing an error. • An original-language version is shown only for quotes that come with the app, where it has been checked against the source. Apple Intelligence is no longer asked to write one. • Sign in with Apple is gone. QuotesVault never needed an account, and the name it kept has been erased.

This update fixes what got in the way when iPhone Duo is held upright, set down like a laptop or stood on its side. • With iPhone Duo open and held upright, your lists and Search start on the list, not an empty page, and a quote you pick opens on its own page. Search keeps its field and your words when you go back to the results, and Zen's quote stays put when its controls come back. • Set down on a table like a laptop, iPhone Duo keeps quotes and Zen on the top half, with their buttons below the fold. A quote too long for the top half is shown in full and scrolls. • When iPhone Duo stands on its side like a tent, the More menu on the outer display lists Add Quote, Collections and Sort and More by name. • On every iPhone held sideways, and on iPhone Duo however you hold it, My Reflection keeps what you are writing above the keyboard.

QuotesVault is even more at home on iPhone Duo. • Fold or unfold while you write: My Reflection, Edit Quote and a quote added from an author's page stay open with every word you have typed, and Share keeps the style and size you chose. • Explain, Add to Collection and a quote's source stay open across a fold too. • Half closed like a book, the sidebar no longer squeezes your list. • The Quote section keeps its sidebar when you unfold, and the shelf keeps your place. • Zen fits each quote on the page at the largest text sizes. • A quote you add from your list is the day's quote again.

QuotesVault is ready for iPhone Duo. • Closed, the whole app works on the outer display at every text size, with its tabs on a rail down the side. • Open it out in landscape and your collections sit in a sidebar beside the quote. In your lists and in Authors, the quote or author you pick opens beside the list, with the sidebar a button away. • If you fold or unfold while adding a quote from your list, the page stays open with every word on it. The quote open in your list and the author open in Authors come with you as well, and so do Zen mode, your shelf and a collection you are renaming. • While you write on the outer display, Cancel and Save sit on the side rail, clear of the keyboard. Also in this update: • Adding a quote now opens a notebook page, with the date at the top and the words and their author together on one card. Tap the author to write a name, and the matching authors appear as you type. When the library knows who said the line, it offers them beside the author, and one tap credits them. • On the Misattributed page, a line credited to the wrong person reads “Really by” only when the research names who did say it, and otherwise says plainly who did not, as in “Not by Albert Einstein”. • The Share sheet now fits the screen at the largest text sizes. • On iPhone, tapping a quote on an author’s page in Authors now opens it. • The app icon has a fine ink line under the quill. • When many changes arrive from iCloud at once, QuotesVault now tidies your library in one pass rather than after every batch, so a large sync no longer repeats the same work.

Find any author, and share a quote your way. • Add an author by name and QuotesVault finds them on Wikipedia: their dates, a short life and a portrait, framed on the face. Adjust the framing yourself if you like. • Adding a quote you already have, or one from a pack, now tells you before you save, and offers the sourced wording. • Share a quote on a printed plate (an hourglass, an armillary sphere, an ink wash or an olive branch), on a photo of your own, or as a wallpaper made for your screen. • Instagram Stories is back. • The list is set in Seravek, easier to read at small sizes.

The library update. QuotesVault now looks like the library it is: every collection is a book on your shelf, and 1,533 quotes wait inside, each one sourced and explained. • Your library, as books. Packs are hardbacks in their own colours, your collections are notebooks in the colour and mark you choose, and a leather bookmark hangs from the one you are reading • The quote page is set like the page of a book. Tap the quote for the next one • Six new packs: The Romans, The Poets, The Transcendentalists, Russian Masters, Wisdom of India and The Seekers • The store is a bookshop, and the bundle is now the Library Card: every pack, including any added later. If you bought the bundle, you already have it • The free library grows to 439 quotes. Churchill and Eleanor Roosevelt are now free for everyone, Frederick Douglass joins Leaders & Statesmen and Mary Wollstonecraft joins Voices Unbound • Explain Quote covers every quote in the library, and for more than 700 of them shows the original words, from Latin and Greek to Persian and Sanskrit • Misattributed: 422 famous lines people credit to the wrong person, and where each one really comes from • Share a quote as a card in the colours of your library, sized for a post or a story, with its source on the card • Copy any quote with its source, and export the quotes you have added as Markdown, CSV or plain text • Author pages with dates, key works and where to read them free • A calmer Zen mode, redesigned widgets and Apple Watch app, a new app icon and a regrouped Settings • Easier to read at larger text sizes, better with VoiceOver, and clearer contrast throughout

Every quote now comes with its story. • Explain Quote is researched, not generated. For every built-in quote you get what it means, who said it and why, and the work it comes from, written by hand against the source and then checked again • For more than 400 quotes you can read the original: Marcus Aurelius in Greek, Seneca in Latin, Confucius in Chinese, Nietzsche in German, Voltaire in French • It works on every iPhone, instantly and offline. Apple Intelligence is still there for the quotes you add yourself • A calmer quote page: the source sits quietly under the author, the tools are closer to hand, and the verified seal is one tap away when you want it • Quotes in a modern translator's English now credit the translator

We checked every quote in QuotesVault against its source, and fixed what did not hold up. • 326 quotes were not said by the person they were credited to, or could not be traced to anything that person wrote. Each is replaced with a genuine quote by the same author, taken from a named work and checked against it word for word • 116 quotes that had drifted into loose modern paraphrase are restored to the original wording. Einstein did not say "Strive not to be a success"; he said "Try not to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of value" • The unattributed quotes have been withdrawn from the library. A quote with no author and no source does not belong in a collection you can trust • Anything you have favourited, written a note on or filed in your own collection is kept. Where a saved quote was miscredited, it now carries the name of the person who really said it • If you own a pack, it updates itself with the corrected quotes the next time you open the app Thank you to everyone who cares about getting the words, and the names, right.

Your collections now look like the books they are, and the daily quote matches everywhere. • Illustrated covers for every quote pack and for your own collections, with the icon you chose stamped on the cover • A new Favorites collection sits beside Added by Me and gathers every quote you have hearted • The pack store is now a two-column grid with proper artwork in place of plain symbols • The daily notification, the app and the widget all show the same Quote of the Day, tapping the notification opens that exact quote, and the widget changes at midnight without opening the app • The Home Screen quick actions (Add Quote, Search, Recent) now do what they say, and the Search shortcut carries your words into the search field • Fixed a crash when long pressing one of your own collections • Fixed the widget occasionally showing nothing after launch • Wide layouts now follow the size of the window, so the sidebar appears wherever there is room for it

This update is all about reliability and polish: • Tapping the Quote of the Day widget now takes you straight to that quote. • Quotes you delete now stay deleted across all your devices with iCloud sync. • Fixed AI Search occasionally getting stuck after a search. • Your daily quote now stays the same through the day and refreshes each morning. • Quote packs restore more reliably and the widget keeps itself up to date. • Smoother scrolling, lower battery use, and a number of smaller fixes. Thanks for using QuotesVault!
