HomeKit, Google Home, and SmartThings, finally in one list. Duplicates merge on their own, everything grouped by room with live status. One home, not three apps.
Smart Home Life is a diagnostics and monitoring app for people running real smart homes. Not one hub and a few lights. The kind of setup where something goes offline at 2am and you want to know why before morning.
Most smart home apps are built for setup. This one is built for everything after.
HOME HEALTH
Scans your HomeKit environment: offline devices, missing room assignments, batteries running low, signal quality. Everything your Home app doesn't show you.
HOME WATCH
Live status monitoring across every major ecosystem. Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings, Sonos, Philips Hue, Lutron. Plus live connectivity status for 10 US internet providers. When something breaks, you'll know in seconds whether it's your hardware, a service outage, or your ISP.
NETWORK SCANNER
Scans your Wi-Fi and identifies every connected device by manufacturer, ecosystem, and protocol. Organized for a smart home owner, not a network engineer.
THREAD MESH VISUALIZER
Maps your Thread network topology: which devices are on it, how they connect to your border router, and where the gaps are. Thread is invisible in every other consumer app.
PROTOCOL BREAKDOWN
Your full device library sorted by connection type: HomeKit, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Z-Wave, Matter, Bluetooth. Know what you actually have before adding more hardware.
ROOM COVERAGE MAP
See which rooms have smart devices and which don't. Useful for spotting gaps before you go shopping.
PAIR VAULT
Stores the setup codes for every device in your home. Factory reset a Matter device without its code and it won't re-pair. Pair Vault keeps those codes on your device, organized by room.
BACKGROUND MONITORING
Runs automatically without you opening the app. Hub goes offline at 2am, you'll see it in the morning. Not when you walk into a room and wonder why nothing's responding. Alert rules let you set thresholds that matter to you.
Battery tracking, device lifespan estimates, uptime history, outage monitoring, and community automations also included.
The app’s technical features are inconsistent and unreliable. The same device shows conflicting information depending on which screen you’re viewing, which makes it hard to trust anything the app reports. The Thread topology view is especially problematic. It includes many devices that are not Thread devices, and the connection lines between devices are arbitrary, unlike the Eve app.The protocol scanner is more a novelty than a useful diagnostic feature. It treats things as the same device while still showing two different manufacturers in the details.
Developer Response
Thanks for the specifics, this kind of feedback is more useful than a one-star with no explanation. On Device Layers: you're right. Thread, HomeKit, and mDNS each return their own manufacturer metadata and they don't always agree. Right now the view shows all of them. I'm working on a smarter merge that picks the most authoritative source per field instead of surfacing the conflict. On Thread topology: iOS doesn't expose actual mesh routing tables the way a dedicated Thread coordinator does. The connection lines are inferred from border router relationships, so they're approximations. Non-Thread devices appear because the view correlates across all protocol layers, that framing needs to be clearer in the UI.These are real limitations, not edge cases. For context: v2.5 that is upcoming adds SmartThings as a fifth protocol layer in Device Layers, improves cross-ecosystem device merging, and unifies device counts so the numbers are consistent across screens. The manufacturer conflict issue you flagged is on the list.If you're open to it, email me at anthony.harmond@smarthomelifellc.com, I'd like to know more about what you're seeing.Hope you stick around to see the improvements!
NEW: One home, every ecosystem
The Home Hub is now one dashboard for HomeKit, Google Home, and SmartThings together. Every device, grouped by room, with a real product photo, an ecosystem badge, live status, and favorites you can drag to reorder.
NEW: Google Home is built in
Google Home joins SmartThings as a native integration, running on device through Google's own Home SDK. Connect it and your Google devices show up across the app with their rooms and live online status.
NEW: One list, no duplicates
A device linked through more than one platform now shows once, under the ecosystem it actually lives on. The duplicates merge on their own. On my own home that collapsed 156 Google devices and 151 HomeKit-bridged ones down to the real uniques.
NEW: Organize Devices
When the auto-match misses, you decide. Compare a device's likely twins across all three platforms, pick which one it lives under, hide the rest, or restore anything you hid. Settings, Integrations, Organize Devices.
NEW: Live metrics and device states
The hub reads your HomeKit sensors live: average temperature, humidity, and air quality, plus the state of each device right on its tile (open or closed, locked, light on at 60 percent, thermostat cooling to 72). A weather reading sits up top.
IMPROVED: Toolbox tab
Network Tools is now Toolbox, with a clean Free and Premium split. The six free diagnostic tools stay front and center.
IMPROVED: Honest privacy page
New Google Home and SmartThings sections spell out what each one reads and why, with wording that matches exactly what the app does.
UNDER THE HOOD
One shared cross-ecosystem engine behind the hub and the organizer, faster HomeKit load from cache, and a full copy pass.
