Probably not. VPN connections fail silently — no warning, no popup, nothing. You keep working, thinking you're protected, while your real IP address is exposed to every site you visit.
IP Monitor lives in your menu bar and watches one thing: your public IP address. Set the IP you expect to see — your VPN exit, corporate proxy, or any address that means "I'm safe" — and the app checks it continuously. The moment your IP doesn't match, you know.
**THE PROBLEM**
VPNs disconnect unexpectedly after sleep, Wi-Fi changes, or random timeouts. The VPN icon alone doesn't tell you whether traffic is actually routing through the tunnel. Manual IP checks are easy to forget and impossible to sustain.

**HOW IT WORKS**
Click the IP badge in your menu bar. Add the IP address or CIDR range you expect to see. Monitoring starts immediately.
The app resolves your public IP at your chosen interval and compares it against your expected value. A colored dot on the menu bar badge shows status at a glance:
- Green — your IP matches
- Orange — mismatch detected
- Blue — alerts snoozed
When a mismatch is detected, an on-screen alert appears instantly.
**INSTANT DETECTION**
IP Monitor doesn't just poll on a timer. It also responds to system network changes — VPN toggles, Wi-Fi switches, Ethernet connects — and re-checks your IP within a second. When your VPN drops while switching networks, you'll know before your next request goes out unprotected.
**FLEXIBLE MATCHING**
Not every VPN assigns the same exit IP. IP Monitor supports:
- Exact IPv4 addresses (e.g., 203.0.113.5)
- Exact IPv6 addresses (e.g., 2001:db8::1)
- IPv4 CIDR ranges (e.g., 10.8.0.0/16)
- IPv6 CIDR ranges (e.g., 2001:db8::/32)
Monitor one IP or several at once. Click to select one, Shift+click to enable multiple simultaneously.
