Steadier on the latest iOS. TrailsIQ now stays open while it tidies up after an update, whatever screen you're on. Faster maps for big networks. Organizations with lots of infrastructure see every structure as a dot on the map, with full pins for the ones you're looking at. Smaller fixes and reliability improvements throughout.

Longer battery life: the app now turns GPS down when you’re not looking at the map, and back up the moment you are. Trail recording is unchanged.

Log work from a photo you've already taken. Pick a picture from your library and TrailsIQ drops the pin where the photo was taken, including photos stored in iCloud. A quicker start. The app connects faster when it opens and tells you clearly if it can't reach the network, so you're never left waiting on a blank screen.

A new look across the whole app, trail inspections, and an important fix for anyone who has used "Free up iOS storage". TRAIL INSPECTIONS Walk a trail against a question set your organization words itself, grade it Good, Marginal or Poor, and file follow-up work for anything that fails. The inspector can set the trail's status at the end of the walk, and a recent inspection now outranks the forecast in the trail-conditions reading. Past walks are on the phone, with their photos. A NEW LOOK A bar along the bottom of every screen, so the map, your lists, discussions and the rest are one tap apart wherever you are. Redesigned home screen, map controls, filter bar and status colors — plus a new app icon and launch screen. RECORDINGS START WHERE YOU ARE The recorder used to discard the first ten seconds after you pressed Start — about forty feet of trail, and no line on screen until you were several steps in. The first point is now exactly where you tapped. Start also unlocks precisely when your GPS is good enough to record, rather than a little before. DISCUSSIONS Every maintenance issue, structure and planned trail has a discussion room now — photos, @mentions and a mute switch, on its own tab in the bottom bar. PHOTOS YOU CAN TAKE BACK OFF Day updates, inspections, discussion messages and checklist rows let you remove and re-annotate photos after posting, not just add them. And checklist photos are visible on the phone for the first time. PUBLIC REPORTS Approve or reject reports from trail users in a queue on the phone, with a count on the Maintenance tile. EXPENSES ON A PHONE Day, week and month views built for a small screen, an Add expense button on all three, export any custom range as a PDF, and mark an approved claim paid. MEASUREMENT AND WEATHER Elevation gain, loss and max grade come from one measurement everywhere now, so the planner, a published trail and an imported GPX finally agree. Expect published trails to report less gain than before — the net rise is unchanged. Trail wetness reads rain that was measured rather than forecast where that data exists. ALSO • "Free up iOS storage" was clearing your downloaded offline packs along with the browser cache. It clears the cache only now. • The launch screen no longer says you appear to be offline when the connection is just slow. • You choose when to take a new version — nothing updates without a tap. • Log work time for a whole crew in one go. • Limit a seasonal checklist line to chosen trails. • Trimming a long GPS recording is responsive again, however many points it holds.

Sync feedback: your phone now buzzes when queued saves upload. Plus per-kind notification preferences, custom fields, faster reload after updates.

This update adds native document and receipt scanning, hands-free dictation for field notes, and a system share sheet. Links now open directly to the right screen in the app. Plus new climbing route management with fixed-gear inspections tied into maintenance, route recording and planning tools, and photo annotation for reports — along with performance and reliability improvements.

Speak instead of type — recognition runs on-device, so your audio never leaves your phone. • Bridge Calculator improvements, including a "Reserve" action when launched from a maintenance issue. • Dashboard polish: registry-nearby banner now sits above the page header. • Reliability: AASA fix so fresh installs no longer hang on launch.

Receipt scanner overhaul — now uses iOS's built-in document scanner (same engine as Apple Notes) for instantly clean crops, automatic shadow removal, and perfect edges every time.
