Birder AI: Bird ID & Life List

Snap a photo. Know the bird.

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

New: snappier camera flow, smarter region-aware IDs, and richer species pages with songs and calls. Pro now unlocks unlimited photo IDs and high-detail vision. Birder AI is the bird identification app for people who actually go birding. Snap a photo, get a confident ID in seconds, log it to your life list, and see what your friends are spotting nearby — all in one beautifully designed app built for iOS. IDENTIFY ANY BIRD FROM A PHOTO Point, shoot, and let Birder AI's multimodal vision model do the rest. Each ID comes with: • A top match plus ranked alternates so you can compare lookalikes • Confidence tier so you know when to trust it • "Tell me more" key field marks and lookalike notes • Region- and season-aware suggestions — a Yellow Warbler in May Maine is not the same shortlist as a Yellow Warbler in January Costa Rica KEEP A REAL LIFE LIST Forget the spreadsheet. Birder AI gives you: • A clean life list with sort, search, and filter • Manual sighting entry for birds you ID'd yourself • Photos attached to every sighting • Year list, top hotspot, and stat tracking • Achievement badges as you hit milestones • A "where you've birded" map view JOIN A COMMUNITY OF BIRDERS Birding is more fun together: • Follow friends and see their sightings in a clean feed • Discover nearby activity from birders around you • Like and comment on great spots • Public birder profiles you control • Search and follow other birders by handle SPECIES REFERENCE BUILT IN Tap any species to see Creative Commons photos and audio recordings, your personal sightings of that bird, and field-mark hints — sourced from iNaturalist, xeno-canto, and the Clements/eBird taxonomy. PRIVACY-FIRST BY DEFAULT • Anonymous sign-in on first launch — no signup wall • Optional Apple Sign-In to sync across devices • Public profile is opt-in, not opt-out • Per-sighting public/private toggle • Coarse coordinates on public sightings to protect rare-bird locations • One-tap full account deletion BIRDER AI PRO Upgrade for the heavy-duty kit: • Unlimited photo IDs (free tier is 5/day) • High-detail GPT-4o vision for tougher IDs • Sound ID for songs and calls (coming soon) • Recent nearby sightings on every species page • Advanced stats and filters PERMISSIONS, IN PLAIN ENGLISH • Camera — to photograph birds you want to identify • Photo library — to attach existing photos to a sighting or run an ID • Microphone — for sound ID of songs and calls • Location — to improve ID accuracy with region context and tag your sightings; entirely optional and adjustable in Settings Built by birders, for birders. Whether you're chasing your first 100 or your fifth ABA Big Year, Birder AI is the field companion you actually want in your pocket. — Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
