PackZIP Pro is a professional archiving utility for macOS—going beyond the standard PackZIP app with broader format coverage, richer compression controls, and split-volume workflows. Clean UI, no banner ads. Everything runs locally under Apple’s sandbox on paths you authorize—no “cloud unzip.” Compress • Create ZIP, 7z, TAR, and XZ, plus single-stream / common-container formats under Other… such as gzip, bzip2, Zstandard, WIM, and AAR (ZIP container)—see the in-app picker for the exact list. • Choose Storage / Standard / Deep modes to trade speed vs size (behavior varies by format—follow in-app guidance). • Split-volume archives for 7z, TAR, and XZ (optional part sizes; very large parts may use the bundled 7-Zip console—see About for attribution and notes). • Passwords where the format allows (plain TAR / XZ / gzip / bzip2 / zstd / WIM paths are not encrypted compression—follow on-screen hints). • Optional skip of Mac metadata (.DS_Store, __MACOSX, AppleDouble ._*) for cleaner cross-platform archives. Extract • Opens the ZIP family (including many Office/app-container extensions), 7z, RAR / CBR, TAR, XZ, plus a wide set of extensions handled by the bundled 7zz pipeline (examples: ISO, UDF, DMG, IMG, CAB, WIM, DEB, RPM, PKG—coverage evolves with the tool; verify with your files in-app). • BSD tar bundles such as .tar.lz / .tlz and .tar.lz4 / .tlz4, plus selected single-file streams like .lz / .lz4. • For split sets, you can often start from any part in the same folder (including common 001 / r00 style names—follow prompts). Browse & tidy • Browse archive lists entries; for writable formats you can add files or delete selected items after confirmation (read-only / limited formats are called out in-app). System & integration • Requires macOS 12 or later (see the product page / in-app text). • PackZIP Pro Finder Sync extension & Services entries—enable under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Extensions → Finder (on some macOS versions: General → Login Items & Extensions → Extensions → Finder). • Support, privacy, and third-party component notes are linked from About. If you only need ZIP / 7z / TAR basics, consider PackZIP (standard) or PackZIP Lite (plain ZIP only).
