A new home screen.
• Your progress up top: how many days in a row you've played, your place in your league and globally, and a view of the week showing which days you played
• Switch between "Single player" and "Play with friends" right below
• "Your modes" shows the four modes you played most recently, with your level and how close you are to the next. A round you haven't finished sits at the top – tap to pick up where you left off
• Under "Play with friends" you'll find games where it's your turn, games waiting on others, and invites you can accept straight from the home screen
1.8.0 Oct 6
New game mode: Flags
• See a flag and pick the right country from four. 197 countries across ten levels – you start with the Nordics and the best-known flags and work your way out to the world's smallest island nations
• The flags download in the background when you open the app, so the mode works offline too
• Flags that are nearly identical – like Chad and Romania – are never offered as answers for each other
• The flag questions in Geography use the same flags, and now work offline too
New game mode: Review
• Questions you get wrong come back for review the next day – from all your modes, Mixed and Flags included
• Get one right and it comes back in three days, then in seven. Three right in a row and it's learned
• The home screen shows how many questions you have to review. Review is just for you and counts as a normal round
1.7.2 Oct 1
Give Unlimited to a friend.
• If you bought Unlimited, you can now pass it on to one friend you bring to MindDuel. Your code is at the top of the home screen and under Settings – share it with your friend
• Got a code? Enter it under Settings → "Redeem Unlimited code" and play with no daily limit
1.5.0 Sep 29
A tidy-up on the leaderboard, and the app now asks for a review.
• "This week – friends" is gone from the friends list on the leaderboard. It repeated what the week already shows in the selector above
• After a few rounds, the app asks once whether you'd like to leave a review. Say no and it won't ask again
1.4.3 Sep 22
Your score is now the one you actually played for – and the level bar shows where you're headed.
• Answers given right after a wrong one, or after the clock ran out, were counted as slow and paid less than they should have. Fixed
• The level bar during a round now names the level you're on, the one you're working toward, and how much this round has added
• "Save and exit" was taking points off your mode total. What you played is now kept
• Math and Pi take their score from the server, the way every other mode does
• Leaderboard: "This week – friends" landed in the middle of the friends list and showed only one player
• Losing a round costs a little level progress again
1.4.2 Sep 15
You can see how far it is to the next level
Progress toward the next level now shows while you play, just under the level at the top of the screen. The last few answers before a new level count down, so you know when it is close. Until now that progress only appeared on the round-end screen.
The level test opens — and stays open
When you filled the progress bar, the level test appeared for a moment and then dismissed itself. A few answers later the same thing happened again, and so on — there was no way to get through it.
It now waits for your answers. Pass, and you move up a level. Don't, and you keep the level you have and get another try a little later.
The two read as one story on purpose: you can now see the level coming, and the test waiting at the end of it actually works.
1.4.1 Sep 11
The score is right the first time
The number you saw at the end of a round was worked out differently from the one the leaderboard stored: the app used the round's average answer time, while the server scores each answer on its own. If you spent a while on one question and answered the rest quickly, the figure on screen could come out lower than what you had actually earned — and then correct itself a moment later, once the server's number arrived.
The app now scores the way the server does. The number you see is the number that counts. Nothing was lost along the way; the leaderboard has had the right total all along.
Every game mode is visible when you create a multiplayer game
The modes sat in a row you had to drag sideways, so most people never saw there was more than the first three. They are now equally sized tiles, all of them, with nothing to drag. Start level can be picked for Pi as well — there it decides which decimal the game begins at.
1.3.5 Sep 10
"Personal best" means a personal best again
The badge at the end of a round appeared nearly every time you scored anything at all. It was measured against zero rather than against your own best round, so it said nothing — and a badge that always shows is not worth looking for.
It now appears only when the round actually beat your best in that mode. The first round you play in each mode after updating sets the baseline, so that one will show it.
1.3.3 Sep 10
Fixes to wording, numbers and readability
"Member since" on your own profile showed the same date to everyone. However long you had been here, it read April 2025. It now shows the date you actually joined — in the same form as on other people's profiles.
The scoreboard's tab said "Last 30 days" but listed all-time bests. The list was right and the name was wrong, so the tab now says what it is.
Another player's profile drew progress and friends as long lists. Both are grids now, like the ones on your own home screen, and the friends are tappable — each one opens that profile. Pi is no longer given a level: a position in Pi is a digit number, not a level, and now reads "Digit 100 → 150".
In light mode the selected range on the scoreboard was invisible. The marker was a pale tone chosen for a dark background; it is legible in both now.
Counts that read wrong at one are fixed: "1 question" in the answer review, "1 day in a row" at the end of a round, "1 round" on the scoreboard, "1 decimal" in Pi, and "Changes in 1 day" on a mode about to rotate out.
The activity feed reads as English again. Rows about you opened with "You're on a" no matter what they were about — "You're on a reached level 5 in Geography". They now read "You reached level 5 in Geography". The streak row is the only one that still opens with "You're on a", because it is the only sentence those words belong to.
Pi and Math no longer carry the button for reporting a question. Both generate their problems on the device, so there is no content to report. The knowledge modes keep it.
1.3.2 Sep 9
Mixed
A new mode that shuffles questions from all the others together. Each question names the category it came from, so you know whether you are in chemistry or history — but not what is coming next. Mixed has a ladder of its own, and draws questions at your level in Mixed rather than at your level in whichever category the question happened to come from.
You get to see the answer
Answer wrong and the correct answer stays on screen for a moment — along with the explanation, where the mode has one. It moves on by itself, and a tap skips ahead the instant you have read it. Including on the wrong answer that ends a round, which until now was the one you never got to see.
What the session was worth
Save or end a round and the app now tells you how many steps closer to the next level you got. If there were more wrong answers than right ones, it says that too — and why, rather than showing a bar that appears to have sat still.
Look back at your answers
Under Mastery on your profile you can open a level you have finished and see the questions you were asked. The ones you missed show your answer and the correct one, side by side.
Reply on your own feedback
Send us feedback and, if we ask you something about it, you can now answer right there under "My feedback" in Settings. The whole exchange stays in one place.
1.3.0 Aug 21
See how far you've come – across every category.
NEW
• Total progress: every level you've earned, added up across all categories and shown on your profile so friends can see it too.
• Unlimited favourites. The home screen grows to fit as many as you pick, instead of stopping at two.
• Invite friends: share a card with your name and a link to the app, straight from "Play a friend".
• A quicker first level-up. The threshold starts lower and rises with your level, so the first step is actually within reach.
IMPROVED
• Resuming a saved game now counts all your points – not just the ones you scored after resuming.
• The weekly friends leaderboard finally appears under Total once you have five friends or more.
• The leaderboard shows real positions when you search.
• Today's challenge is always visible on the home screen.
• Your friends list no longer empties itself.
• Accepting an invitation always takes you into the game.
• Signing in on a new device no longer signs you out on the others.
• The daily quota resets at your own midnight.
• Notifications arrive at a sensible hour wherever you are.
1.2.1 Aug 14
Your progress is finally visible
The levels were always there, you just couldn't see them. The end-of-round screen now shows the level you're on, how far into it you've come, and how many correct answers are left — and you watch the bar travel from where you started the round.
• A progress bar on the mode cards, on home and on your profile
• Levelling up announces itself as it happens, instead of happening in silence
• A locked glimpse of what the next level asks
• A new mastery ladder on your profile: all ten rungs, named, with your place on it
• Progress over time per mode, and how much faster you answer than a month ago
Levels are earned now
Filling the bar now offers you a short level test: five questions drawn from the level above, four correct to move up. Fail it and you lose nothing — keep playing and try again.
• Only questions at your own level or above count toward the next one
• A wrong answer costs you a step, so guessing quickly doesn't pay
• A level takes a few more correct answers than it used to
The score adds up
The end-of-round screen and the leaderboard were showing two different numbers for the same round. Now there's one number, on a scale you can read without knowing the formula: one correct answer at level 1 is one point. Harder levels and quick answers count for more, but speed can no longer drown out everything else.
Your total will look smaller than before. Every past result has been recalculated on exactly the same scale, so the leaderboard is as fair as it was — the numbers are just smaller.
The streak reminder now tells you what you're close to, when you're close to something.
A reason to come back tomorrow
The end-of-round screen showed your score and pointed nowhere. Your streak now sits there too, along with what tomorrow adds to it: on day one it names the target — tomorrow makes it two. The day before a milestone, it names the milestone.
• The activity feed covers more of what actually happens: when you or a friend keeps a streak going, when someone reaches a new level, and when the daily challenge changes mode
• The mode list shows how many questions each mode holds
• Levels are just "Level 6" now. The school grade is gone — difficulty isn't written against a curriculum, so it shouldn't borrow authority from one
• A level takes 50 correct answers, up from 40. The level test and the own-level-only rule turned out to slow things less than expected
1.2.0 Aug 9
You can now share a link or a room code. The recipient doesn't need to have MindDuel beforehand — the link takes them to the App Store, and they enter the code under "Join".
Search for and invite any user, not just added friends
Create a room without inviting anyone, then share the link afterwards
Join a game using a code
Joining no longer uses up your daily quota
Anyone who played can initiate a rematch — not just the host
Share your results after a duel
Fixed: Pi mode never accepted correct answers. Questions answered incorrectly in knowledge modes reappeared immediately.
Changed: Difficulty levels now range from 1 to 10 instead of 1 to 20. Your level has been converted accordingly (e.g., level 14 is now level 7).
Give it a try: Share an invite with someone who doesn't have the app yet, and check that the link opens the correct round after they install and enter the code.

- Correct language from the start: The app now launches in English when your phone's language isn't Norwegian.
- Multiplayer in the host's language: When you invite someone to a game, the questions appear in your language – even for players using the app in another language.
- Right language in your activity feed: Game mode names now show in the language you use in the app.
- Clearer notifications: We've simplified the wording of push notifications so they're easier to understand.
- Faster question reporting: Reporting a question now takes a single tap with a quick confirmation – no form to fill in.
- Polish: Centered the division indicators and made various smaller improvements.
