Unfurl: Strip Link Trackers

URL cleaner, UTM & privacy

$5.99

Strip the junk. Keep the link. Tracking tags removed as pages load — UTM, fbclid, gclid, redirects, affiliate codes. Cookie banners hidden. 100% on-device, no accounts. Every link you tap carries baggage — utm parameters, fbclid, gclid, affiliate tags, AMP wrappers. Pieces of the URL that exist only to track you or count clicks. Unfurl strips it out before the page even loads. And now it stops what it can't strip: cookie-consent banners, gone before they appear. Add Unfurl to Safari and it cleans links right in the network layer: tracking parameters are removed and AMP links are unwrapped to the real destination — automatically, on every page you open. No copying, no extra taps. The clean page is simply what loads. HOW IT WORKS Unfurl is a pair of Safari extensions. Turn them on once in Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions — "Unfurl for Safari" for links, "Unfurl" for cookie banners — and they run quietly from then on. Link cleaning uses Safari's declarativeNetRequest rules, so it works entirely in the network layer: Unfurl never reads, sees, or alters the content of your pages. It only ever touches the URL. COOKIE BANNERS, HIDDEN New in 2.3: the second extension keeps consent pop-ups off the page before they render, through Apple's own content-blocker mechanism — no scripts, nothing read from what you browse. Nothing is clicked on your behalf: the site never gets an answer, which usually means no optional cookies at all. A page that won't scroll behind a banner it can't show? Tap Unfurl in Safari's page menu for an off switch for that site — about a second, synced to your other devices. Rules come from EasyList Cookie, credited, refreshed and converted on your device. WHAT GETS CLEANED • Campaign tags — utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, and the rest of the family. • Ad-click IDs — fbclid, gclid, and thousands more, from the ClearURLs, Brave, and AdGuard URL Tracking lists. • AMP wrappers — google.com/amp/s/… and ampproject.org links unwrap straight to the canonical page, skipping the redirect. MAKE YOUR OWN RULES Some site pins a tracker the lists don't name yet? Make a rule for it, right on your iPhone. Paste the link — or, where Apple Intelligence is available, describe in plain words what to keep and what to strip — and Unfurl flags the likely tracking and lets you set each parameter to Remove, Keep, or Leave alone. Save it, and that site cleans your way from then on. Your rules sync privately over iCloud, so a rule made here is already on your Mac, and you can share one by email as a plain rule file. FRESH ON ITS OWN The tracker lists and the cookie list update by themselves — when you open the app, and in the background when iOS allows it. Unfurl checks politely: if a list hasn't changed, nothing is downloaded. New trackers get caught without waiting for an app update. SEE IT WORK Tap Unfurl in Safari to see how many links it has cleaned for you and the sites it cleaned most. Counted on your device, kept on your device — and it only counts links that actually carried tracking. PRIVACY POSTURE Everything happens on your iPhone or iPad. Unfurl has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, and no telemetry — not even for itself. Because it works in the network layer and Safari's own content blocker, it never has access to page content, passwords, or what you type. The Privacy Manifest declares zero tracking domains and zero collected data. The one network call fetches list updates. ONE PURCHASE, MAC AND iPHONE Unfurl on iPhone and iPad is part of the same purchase as Unfurl for Mac. On the Mac, Unfurl also cleans links the moment you copy them, keeps a menu-bar history of every clean, and can follow short links that need a network lookup. Want to see it before you enable it? A fix release for cleaning in Safari. FIXES • In some cases Safari kept Unfurl's rules installed but stopped applying them — links you opened from Mail came through with every tracker while the extension still said "Active". Unfurl for Safari now checks the links you actually open, and if the tracking tags survive, it reinstalls its rules on its own. • A handful of rules meant for specific pages were applied to every site, so everyday parameters like from, ref, sid and pid were stripped on sites that need them. They now apply only where they belong. • Klaviyo marketing emails can carry your subscriber ID in the link; Unfurl now removes it in Safari too. ALSO • Setup now walks you to "Always Allow on Every Website" — Safari doesn't ask on its own, and until it's set, links you open from Mail come through uncleaned. • If Unfurl for Safari isn't allowed on every website, the Unfurl app and the Unfurl for Safari popup now say so — instead of "Unfurl is on" — and where to fix it. • The Unfurl app and the Unfurl for Safari popup show when cleaning was last confirmed on a real link — and say so plainly, with what to do, if a repair didn't help. • "Links cleaned in Safari" now counts only links that were actually cleaned. Quiet, fast, on your side.
