IncidentScribe drafts SRE postmortems on-device, using Apple Intelligence. When the incident is over and the timeline needs writing, IncidentScribe takes your raw artefacts — a Slack channel export, a PagerDuty incident dump, a multi-thousand-line log file — and turns them into a structured postmortem in five sections: Summary, Timeline, Root Cause, Contributing Factors, Action Items. The whole pipeline runs on your Mac. No incident text crosses your machine boundary. There's no cloud sync, no telemetry, no third-party SDKs. The Mac App Store sandbox is the verifier. WHY ON-DEVICE Incident artefacts are full of secrets you can't paste into ChatGPT. Customer names. Internal hostnames. Stack traces with PII. Credentials. The kind of thing your security team will fire you for sharing with an external API. IncidentScribe runs Apple's Foundation Models locally so you can use modern AI on data your employer would never let you upload. THE PIPELINE 1. Chunk the input under the 4,096-token Foundation Models ceiling using natural-boundary slicing. 2. Extract structured timeline events from each slice using @Generable schema-constrained decoding. 3. Validate every event back against its source slice — the actor must be a literal substring of the source, timestamps must parse. Fabrications get dropped before they reach the drafter. 4. Reconcile per-slice timelines into a single deduplicated, chronologically-ordered master. 5. Draft five postmortem sections from the structured timeline — never from the raw text. Every drafted claim links back to the timeline events that justify it. Two clicks from any sentence to the source line. THE TRUST UI Citations are first-class. The Citations inspector shows exactly which timeline events back any drafted claim; clicking through opens the source slice with the relevant actor highlighted. If a section was drafted from sparse data — the model invented something — the citation chain breaks visibly and the section gets a warning chip. You see every place the model added more confidence than the data warranted. EXPORT Markdown for Confluence, Notion, or wherever your postmortems live. PDF for the immutable incident record.
