Ten Thousand Skies
Stargazing, across time.
$2.99
iPad
Every year has its own sky. Travel the skies through time and space.
Ten Thousand Skies is a quiet place to look up.
Choose a place and a year anywhere on Earth, any time across roughly ten thousand years, and the sky above it appears, drawn as pixel art inside a circular window. Travel between two moments and the stars drift into their new places so you can watch the sky change.
The change is real. Precession of the equinoxes is calculated, not faked, which means the pole star is not always Polaris. Travel far enough back and you can watch Thuban take its place.
Tap most constellations to read what it is and who named it. All 88 are written, from the Greek myths to the eighteenth-century figures made from a telescope. Tap a star to see what the catalog actually knows about it.
The Logbook holds moments worth visiting: the oldest sky the app can reach, the Great Pyramid under construction, Halley's comet over Hastings, Greenwich the year it was founded. You can save your own.
Everything runs on this device. No account, no network, nothing collected. No ads, nothing to buy inside the app. Your location, if you choose to share it, is used to draw your sky and never leaves the iPad.
