We made a simple app to practice language mechanics. No subscriptions. No accounts. No gimmicks.
For those learning a Romance language, noun genders and articles can be frustrating. There is no way to know them except to memorize them, but your regular language learning apps offer nothing for drilling these mechanics for common nouns. Instead, you fumble through genders and articles while trying to focus on speaking, vocabulary, or writing. This is scattered and inefficient, and it's slowing down your entire language learning process.
This is why we made ella: to help you FINALLY remove the stumbling block of noun genders and articles so you can get on with the bigger parts of language learning. ella contains more than 800 nouns across more than 30 categories, with singular and plural forms, definite and indefinite articles. And these terms are available in four languages: Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Italian.

- this is not a subscription trap.
- this is not a "do-it-all," "you'll be fluent in [x] weeks" app. Those apps over-promise, over-charge, and under-deliver.
- this is not "the entire dictionary of nouns" app. Noun genders need to be memorized, and you can't reasonably memorize 20,000 terms. Instead, we carefully tailored the categories and the nouns to be things you actually need to refer to in your writing and vocab practice. We continually add more, but we are thoughtful about it.
- This is not a data collection app. We collect nothing. No accounts, no passwords, no personal information.
- This is not a cash grab. We do not paywall critical features of ella. All four languages and all terms are available to everyone. We offer one paid tier, made as inexpensive as we can make it, for some additional features. That's it.
