Caelara Studio is the complete desktop workspace for the serious astrologer — a traditional charting engine, a
stunning report studio, and a full client manager, together in one beautifully crafted Mac app.
Built on classical and Hellenistic technique, Caelara Studio calculates with precision and produces readings
unlike anything else on the market.
WHAT'S INSIDE
Charts you'll actually use day to day:
• Birth charts (natal)
• Transit forecasts
• Solar and lunar returns
• Secondary progressions
• Annual profections
• Horary (in its own workspace, with a chartwheel built for the craft)
• Plus additional chart types — synastry, composite, davison, draconic, solar arc, harmonic, and
astrocartography — chart calculations included now, with expanded report support planned for future releases.
Written reports you can hand to a client:
• 10–12 page deterministic narrative reports for every included chart type
• Traditional methods (Lilly, Bonatti, Hellenistic) read in plain English
• Reference Sheet PDFs for any chart type — the technical data view astrologers actually print
• Ready to email or print
Your client roster, on your Mac:
• Local CRM for clients, birth data, consultations, communications, reminders
• Chart library for reference and study charts
• Calendar integration for client appointments
Optional AI enhancement (you bring the key):
• Plug in your own Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini API key in Settings → API
• Reports work fully without AI — the deterministic engine produces the full report on its own
• When you supply a key, AI-enhanced narrative becomes available as an additional option, alongside the
deterministic version
THE APPROACH
Caelara Studio doesn't pretend astrology is mystical software. It's a working tool, the way a sextant is a
working tool. You bring the practice; the app keeps the calculations honest, the records straight, and the
printouts beautiful.
The engine is pure Swift, runs offline, respects traditional methods. The seven classical planets do the heavy
lifting; the modern outers are available when you want them, hidden when you don't. Sect is built in. Essential
and accidental dignities are computed for every planet. Fixed stars, Arabic Parts, and the time-lord
techniques are here as working machinery, not decoration.
Reports are written in the voice of a working astrologer talking to a friend — short paragraphs, plain English,
the technical terms explained the first time they show up. Built for the chart's owner to read, not for the
astrologer to admire.
More chart types and report features are planned for future releases.
Made by Ken Saunders, traditional astrologer and author of The Little Book of Horary Astrology.
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
Version 2.3.1 corrects the mathematics behind several kinds of chart. If you use Caelara for client work, this one matters.
CORRECTED HOUSE CALCULATIONS
Four house systems were computing their intermediate cusps incorrectly: Regiomontanus, Campanus, Koch and Morinus. The Ascendant, Midheaven and their opposites were always right — which is why this was easy to miss — but the other eight cusps could be several degrees out, far enough to place a planet in the wrong house.
Regiomontanus is Caelara's traditional default, so most charts the app has drawn were affected. Above about 52° north the error was severe enough to put house cusps out of order.
All eight systems now agree with the Swiss Ephemeris to within a thousandth of a degree. Your saved charts are recalculated automatically the first time you open this version.
CORRECTED DAVISON CHARTS
A Davison is cast for the midpoint in time and place between two people. When the two were more than 180 degrees of longitude apart, the midpoint was being calculated on the opposite side of the world — a New York and Tokyo couple got a chart cast in Turkey rather than the mid-Pacific.
BIRTH TIMES IN THE RIGHT TIMEZONE
Birth times were displayed in the timezone of the computer reading them rather than the timezone of the birth. A New York birth could read several hours out, on screen, in chart headers and in printed reports.
CHART RECORDS FOLLOW THEIR BIRTH DATA
Correcting somebody's birth date now recalculates their chart. Previously the new date was saved and the old chart kept, so a client card could show the Moon sign of a chart that no longer existed.
ALSO IN THIS RELEASE
• Emailing a report from a client record works, and tells you what it did. Where no mail account is configured it opens the message in your mail app with the PDF ready to attach, rather than reporting a failure.
• Backups now include your settings, so restoring no longer quietly resets your house system. They no longer include unrelated configuration files that happened to sit in the same folder.
• A client with no birthplace says so, instead of showing an Ascendant calculated for a point in the Atlantic.
• Practice Analytics reports your practice — clients, readings delivered, charts in your library, reminders due — rather than only fees. Financial figures appear when there are some.
• Profections no longer depend on the reader's timezone for deciding which side of a birthday a date falls on.
• The lunar nodes now follow the tradition. Lilly gives them no aspects — his doctrine is entirely about a planet being joined with the Head or the Tail — so a conjunction to either node is reported and nothing else. The Head and the Tail are named separately, because they are contrary: what the Head increases, the Tail spoils.
Before this, a square to the axis was listed twice, once to each end, as though it were two testimonies rather than one. A trine to the Head was listed again as a sextile to the Tail — the same geometry under two names. And the opposition between the nodes themselves, which is true of every chart ever cast, was being reported as an aspect; being exact at 0.00 degrees, it was named as the tightest aspect in yours.
WHAT WAS ALREADY CORRECT
Placidus, Equal, Porphyry, Whole Sign and Alcabitius were verified and unchanged. So were secondary progressions, solar arc directions, solar and lunar returns, harmonics, draconic charts and composite charts.
