Rollwise Saved Me from a Marriage Built on a Throne of Lies
NebularSush
For the past few months, my wife had been telling me she was going out to play D&D with some friends every Thursday night. Although this was very out of character for her, as she was never particularly nerdy, I never questioned it because I trusted her and I loved her. That all changed when Rollwise was recommended to me on my feed.I didn’t know anything about D&D at the time, but I thought this would be a great way for my wife and me to bond. Maybe by learning a little bit about her interests, I’d finally be able to join her on these nights and understand some of the things she loved so much.Rollwise taught me the basics: what dice are, how to roll them, the different character classes, spell slots, and the combat mechanics that go into encounters. One evening, after leveling up and spending a considerable amount of time grinding this app, I finally felt prepared to have a decent conversation with my wife about her supposed love for D&D.When she came home that Thursday, I asked her what character she had been playing. She told me she had really been working on her level 8 Wizard. I then asked her what spells she had been using, and she casually mentioned that she had been practicing Divine Smite. This was the moment everything changed. Thanks to Rollwise, I knew Divine Smite was a Paladin ability. There was absolutely no way her Wizard should have been using it.When I confronted her, she fell silent. And that’s when I knew. After a bit more questioning, the truth finally came out. She hadn’t been going to D&D nights at all. She had actually been seeing another man.Apparently, he was a level 12 Paladin.Turns out he’d been giving her a little bit of that Divine Smite.I honestly don’t know what hurts more: the fact that my wife had been unfaithful to me or the fact that the man she was seeing apparently didn’t even understand multiclassing. In the end, we’re getting divorced. She’s keeping the kids, but I’m keeping Rollwise. At the end of the day, I’d just like to thank Rollwise for teaching me D&D. More importantly, I appreciate it for helping me recognize a critical failure in my marriage.10/10. Would recommend.
