Skein is here. Katch is now Skein, with a warmer new look throughout. The Community feed is now alive, with every catch appearing so there's always something new to explore. When you Verify a find, you'll see where the photo was taken on a map, making tricky IDs easier to call. Prefer to stay private? Your catches still appear in the feed, but anonymously as "Anon" with no name or location shown. We've also renamed Judge to Verify and polished wording throughout.

The biggest Katch update yet! A whole new way to explore the living world around you. One Living Map Explore now opens on a single living map. Search for any plant or animal, see what's been found nearby, and discover which species are still missing from your area. Smarter food webs Every creature's food web now shows accurate local species for your region — the real relationships where you actually are. A fresher "Today" See what's active right now, through the whole day — not just at dawn. Cleaner throughout A simpler navigation bar, a tidied-up profile, and better-looking share cards when you show off a find. Point, tap, and discover the world you'd otherwise walk past. Happy Katching!

Sound Katches now look the part: recorded species get their own image and audio badge in your collection, and you get clearer guidance when a recording is too quiet to identify. Also in this update: - Fixed the camera in landscape so the viewfinder and controls sit correctly - Smoother sign-in - Stability and polish

The big one: species identification is now FREE. The daily ID limit is gone, so you can identify plants, animals and fungi as much as you like, every day. Also in this update, and recent releases in case you missed them: - Smarter identifications: multiple AIs now cross check every photo before you get an answer, plus a sanity check against global records of where each species actually lives. - BioDive: point your camera at a whole scene (a rockpool, a meadow, a tree) and capture every species in it at once. Free scans included every day. - Katch Pro has a new focus: the food web. Every catch you make connects to what it eats, what eats it, and what it lives alongside. Pro unlocks the full depth of the web your collection builds. - New: try Katch Pro free for 14 days on the annual plan and watch your web grow. - Fixed a crash when closing the camera, a bug that could silently stop audio identification until an app restart, and a rare crash in the collection view. - Faster community verification, so your catches get confirmed sooner.
