ALOUD translates conversations and the world around you. Talk face to face in two languages, or use Listen to follow a speaker with live text and headphone audio.
In Conversation, lay the phone between you. The split transcript flips the far side so both people can read upright. Hold the talk buttons to take turns, or enable Hands-free. 70+ languages.
Beyond voice:
- Listen: choose the speaker's language and your language, then follow the live translation. Select text, voice or both. Voice requires headphones; text works without them. Pause, view the original text or share your transcript.
- Camera: take a photo of a menu or sign and ask the assistant to explain it or help translate text. Ask follow-up questions, then tap saved photos to zoom or share.
- A keyboard on each side for noisy rooms or quiet replies
- Tap the original text to edit and re-translate
- Check meaning: an optional back-translation and AI check help you spot possible changes in meaning. Checks can miss errors.
- History: search past conversations and export transcripts
- VoiceOver and Dynamic Type supported
Pricing is prepaid credit, not a subscription. Sign in with your Apple account and get $1.00 of free translation credit. Top up in the app for $1, $5, or $10. Every dollar you pay is a dollar of balance, and you can watch it tick down as you talk. No recurring charges. Credit you buy never expires. Free, promotional and bonus credit may expire on the date shown in the app. Usage varies with the features and quality setting you choose.
Privacy: your speech is streamed securely for translation and never stored by ALOUD. Photos are saved on your iPhone and sent to OpenAI to answer your questions; retained photos may be sent again for follow-up questions. ALOUD does not store image files on its servers. Transcripts, including assistant answers, are saved to your account so History works. You can delete conversations or your account in the app. No ads, no tracking.
