Measure your DAW audio in real time without plugins. Monitor LUFS, True Peak, LRA, PSR, and phase correlation directly from your menu bar.
LOUDMETER brings real time loudness metering to your Mac’s menu bar. Measure your DAW, Spotify, or browser audio without adding a meter plug-in to your session.
Designed for mixing and mastering, with loudness measurement based on ITU-R BS.1770-5 and EBU R128.
YOUR ESSENTIAL METERS
• Integrated, Short-Term, and Momentary LUFS
• True Peak in dBTP, with max hold and clip counter
• Loudness Range and PSR
• Stereo and spectral phase correlation
BUILT FOR YOUR WORKFLOW
Follow supported physical output routes, even when your DAW uses a different output from macOS. LOUDMETER adapts to sample-rate changes and keeps capture focused on one monitor output to avoid summing secondary routes.
Customize your menu bar metrics, pin the panel above your DAW, and choose Color, Dark, or Light themes. The readout shrinks when menu bar space is limited.
ANALYZE AND SHARE
Drop an MP3, WAV, AIFF, FLAC, or M4A file onto the panel for offline analysis. Compare measurements with reference targets for Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Netflix, and EBU R128. Copy your results or export a PNG report.
YOUR METERS ON IPHONE AND IPAD
View your Mac’s live readings in LOUDMETER on an iPhone or iPad connected to the same local network. Only measurement and visualization data are transmitted, never your audio.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Audio processing stays local. No audio uploads, account, tracking, or analytics.

Great For Checking Peak db’s and LUFS
Rockboy4ever
This app actually sits on your desktop at the top of the screen where al the bluetooth and wifi settings are. You can pin it to stay on top of any app you are doing and as soon as you hit play on whatever DAW you are using it analyzes the sound coming from the MAC system an does not need an input. I am using it to check the db threshold and the LUFS for Youtube. It actually identified an issue with a limiter not keeping True Peak on that I was using also. So far it’s doing what I need it to do and I don’t have to have a subscription for it.
Thanks for your feedback, keep it coming. In this update:
• My target: set your own integrated LUFS target. It sits in the target strip next to Spotify, Apple, YouTube and Netflix, draws a reference line on the graph and shows how far you are from it on the Integrated reading.
• A more detailed graph. It now follows a fast 100 ms loudness window, so the same sound always draws the same shape, and it scrolls smoothly at a steady pace.
• Quiet passages stay visible on the graph instead of disappearing.
• A smoother correlation curve that moves evenly and settles calmly when the audio stops. New Fast and Slow response options in Settings > Metering.
• A cleaner look: graph and correlation now run edge to edge, the target strip fits in one row, and accent colors dim to neutral when nothing is playing.
• A lighter, smoother panel that uses less CPU while metering.
• File analysis is about 2.5 times faster, with identical results.
• iPhone and iPad viewers on version 1.6 now get the same detailed graph as the Mac.
